Chapter 261 Arrival

Li Ke and his group received a map that marked the locations of more than two hundred sentry posts. Most of these sentry posts had unofficial reception offices nearby. The young woman also emphasized that the posts on the map were only those that they knew about; there were many others that were not on the map.

The young woman marked the reception areas she had worked at. She was a transient worker, sometimes working there and sometimes being transferred to other places. She believed that the reception areas she had worked at were owned by the same person or had a business partner.

As for their choice of this job, it was entirely voluntary. The salary of non-permanent staff is very low, and all living expenses, such as food, clothing, housing, and transportation, have to be deducted from their salary. The job requirements are also very strict, and there will be penalties if mistakes or substandard work occur.

Even so, countless people still want to work here.

Although they don't earn money working here, they have food, lodging, and clothing, and everything is kept clean, so they feel it's already pretty good.

The map the young woman drew was very general, but it marked the directions and the names of the important places. Li Ke and the others roughly calculated that the safe zone did indeed cover a large area.

The entire area is roughly elliptical in shape, with the core area not located at the very center of the safe zone, but further back.

Li Ke roughly calculated their journey. At their current speed, it would take them about half a month to actually reach the meeting point outside the core area.

The pace of their journey wasn't particularly fast; they would rest at each reception point, as if intentionally slowing them down by encouraging them to spend money.

However, upon closer examination, there doesn't seem to be any problem, because the roads are indeed difficult to traverse, and at each checkpoint, registration and verification are indeed required again, although the process is a bit slow.

Uncle Mo sent someone back, but he has things to do both day and night and won't be back for the time being. The convoy will set off again tomorrow morning.

After hearing this, Li Ke and the others went to rest, hoping that Uncle Mo could bring back more news.

Uncle Mo returned the next morning and immediately ordered the convoy to set off. Mo Bao'er and the others did not have time to ask any more questions before they set off with the convoy.

After driving for a morning, Li Ke and his group realized that the route the guide vehicle was taking this time seemed to be somewhat different from the route they had planned, and the speed was also much faster.

When they stopped for lunch, Mo Bao'er and the others finally had time to gather around Uncle Mo.

Mo Bao'er reported the map and other bits of information they had obtained to Uncle Mo. Uncle Mo looked at the map, still wearing his familiar smile, and nodded, saying, "Not bad, not bad."

Mo Bao'er, however, was a little impatient and asked from the side, "Grand Uncle, stop keeping us in suspense. You've been in there for a day and two nights, you must have more information than we do, right? Tell us quickly."

Urged on, Uncle Mo spoke up: "Your prediction is correct. If we follow the old procedures, we will naturally fall behind. Although we are among the first to receive the news, we still need to put in more effort to gain an advantage among this group."

Uncle Mo took out a black card: "I spent about 100 kilograms of gold inside last night, and I still need to use 100 kilograms of gold to buy this black card."

Upon hearing this, Mo Bao'er became somewhat dissatisfied: "Isn't this a military security zone? To start with this kind of thing is really off-putting."

Uncle Mo, however, was used to it: "These kinds of things happen everywhere. Once you've encountered more of them, you'll realize how common they are."

Mo Cheng examined the black card for a while, then asked, "What's the use of this card? And who are the owners of these entertainment venues? Are they also from the military? Or has someone already gotten there before us? These sentry posts are all important checkpoints. To be able to do business in these places, their network of connections must be extremely powerful."

Uncle Mo nodded: "You're right. This black card is like a pass we bought. Next, the guide vehicle will take us through a shortcut. We'll only pass two checkpoints along the way, and whether we rest or not is up to us."

Mo Cheng sighed, "It seems like you have to pay to get anywhere. I just hope this situation doesn't happen everywhere. Otherwise, even if we move here, the so-called safety might not be so secure."

Uncle Mo: "There are gains and losses. I have received information that we are the third black card to be sold. The first two cards were bought by the Li family and the Song family. If nothing unexpected happens, there are at least two groups ahead of us."

After everyone finished eating, they didn't stay long before getting back into the car and setting off again. They didn't stop for the rest of the journey, except when they were extremely tired.

When we arrived at the conference venue, it was already the evening of the eighth day. There were five buildings at the conference venue. The main building in the middle was the office, and the two side buildings were the reception areas.

Each group of guests was only given two rooms. Those who could not be accommodated could choose a place outside to pitch their tents.

After registering and obtaining membership certificates, Uncle Mo and his men returned. This time, the process was remarkably fast.

Li Ke and Mo Zuo had already led their men to clear out a space outside their assigned accommodation building and were setting up tents.

Five hundred meters away from them, there was already a tent area. It seemed that they hadn't arrived too late. There were only two groups of people outside the conference building.

Li Ke had learned that each of the annex buildings had five floors, with twelve rooms on each floor. One building was specifically for receiving military personnel and was not open to the public.

So, with three buildings and 180 rooms, each participating team can only apply for two rooms.

The activity area and passageway in front of the main building are not allowed to be occupied. So it seems that people who arrive later will have to set up tents several miles away.
