Chapter 274 A Pond

By the time the remaining two tents were set up, it was already 2 a.m. Li Ke had slept for four hours and only got up and crawled out of the tent when he heard the sound of a car outside.

Fifteen trucks and three vans arrived. One van was full of people, another was loaded with fuel and coal, and the last van carried two excavators and a small crane.

After Li Ke explained the boundaries and mission to the team leader, the group dispersed and cleared the ground for unloading goods, quickly getting to work.

Li Ke also introduced the two usable tents to the team leader, and then told them that the water tank was on the truck, and they could go and open the water pipe to get water and use it themselves.

Once the site was cleared, the unloading speed was extremely fast. Li Ke still insisted on having a high and sturdy courtyard wall, as fifteen truckloads of construction waste were naturally not enough.

The convoy left after unloading the goods, leaving more than a hundred people on site to clean up the ground. Three excavators worked together to dig out the boundary.

Li Ke wasn't idle either. She took an older woman, along with a water pump, generator, and water pipe, to the nearest water source. She lowered the water pump into the river, explained to the woman how to use the switch, gave her a walkie-talkie, and taught her how to use it.

After confirming that there were no problems, Li Ke left the elderly woman there to look after the water pump and generator, and then went back home.

As soon as she returned to her homestead, she found a person in military uniform standing on her land, waiting very obediently.

Everyone around was doing their own thing. Li Ke noticed that the person was only looking around and not wandering around aimlessly, so she walked straight towards him.

"Is there anything I can help you with?" Li Ke asked proactively.

The man appeared to be in his thirties, a little shorter than Li Ke, but looked very energetic. He saluted first, then looked at Li Ke and asked, "Are you Commander Li?"

Li Ke returned the greeting and nodded, "It's me."

"Hello, I am the information officer from the No. 3 outpost of the Sixth Ring Road. I have a message to inform Base Chief Li. A meeting of all base staff will be held at the conference building on the First Ring Road on October 15th. The main topics will be base development, planting support, and greening development. We hope that Base Chief Li will attend on time." The information officer clearly conveyed the purpose of the message and then handed an envelope to Li Ke with both hands.

Li Ke opened the envelope and read it. Inside was the same written notice. Today was September 28th, and there were still half a month until the meeting date. The travel time given was sufficient.

Seeing that Li Ke had taken his gaze away from the written notice, the information officer asked again to confirm, "Does Base Commander Li have any further questions? Or any comments on the meeting?"

Li Ke put the letter away: "No problem, I will attend. Thank you for letting me know."

The other party replied in a very standard manner, "It's no trouble at all, it's my duty." Then he turned around and ran outside. Because the area was being excavated outside, the informant's motorcycle couldn't easily get in, so he parked it outside.

Li Ke calculated the time and realized that it would be a bit tight if Song Xian came in, but they could hurry along the way.

She really doesn't like management and dealing with people, so she should let Song Xian take over all of this as soon as possible.
