Li Ke asked directly, "Has anyone died?"
The man was taken aback by Li Ke's direct question and shook his head, saying, "No one was dead when I came out."
Li Ke: "What happened? What's the reason?"
The man licked his slightly chapped lips: "That construction team is dishonest. They built the septic tank right next to the back wall of our yard. We're building our main house not far from there, so we can't let them do that."
The people planting the green roots had already got the rhythm right, so Li Ke told the team leader that he wanted to go back and take a look. The team leader said very enthusiastically, "There's no need for me to guide things here anymore. Why don't I go and take a look too? If things really get out of hand, I can help mediate."
Li Ke didn't refuse and led the group outside, saying, "If you're interested, you can come and take a look."
The team leader followed Li Ke without saying a word. He was obviously very interested, otherwise he wouldn't have offered to go and see it together. Of course, he wouldn't say it so bluntly.
There are still nearly two hundred people at Li Ke's construction site, but the neighbors behind him have hired even more people, probably more than five hundred.
At first, the two sides could exchange a few words, but their relationship began to deteriorate because the other party wanted to borrow Li Ke's equipment.
Li Ke's side was definitely unwilling to lend the money. They had few people and a large area, and they needed to rely on machinery to speed up the project. Moreover, the other side had more than 500 people, and the leader was a hired contractor.
They said they were borrowing, but they didn't even have gasoline. Their words implied that they needed to borrow even gasoline, but the real mastermind behind it all never showed up. The contractor, however, felt incredibly shameless.
From the perspective of Li Ke's side, this person just felt that he could talk to them and that he was too arrogant because he had more people under his command.
They can't offer anything in exchange, and they just want to use their machines and gasoline by talking about friendship without any real commitment. Is that even possible?
Li Ke's people believed that the contractor was arrogant and ignorant. He couldn't manage his own manpower and couldn't improve the construction schedule, so he tried to take advantage of them. He was really dreaming.
After rejecting the other party, the relationship between the two sides began to grow colder and colder, just like the weather. These matters were handled by the subordinates.
Although Li Ke hadn't been involved, she had heard about it, but she felt that her people handled it well.
This cold relationship actually only spread among a few supervisors; those who actually had to do the hard work would occasionally exchange a few words while they were working.
It was for this reason that Li Ke's people were able to find out that the large pit being dug by the neighbor behind them was intended to be used as a septic tank.
When Li Ke arrived at the scene, part of the backyard wall had been smashed down. One of the stewards standing on the perimeter saw Li Ke return and immediately retreated from the edge of the battlefield.
"Base Commander, I think these people did it on purpose. They never mentioned digging a cesspool here before, but now they've suddenly put it here. It must be the foreman causing trouble. It's disgusting. Our people have heard that the owners here will be bringing a group of bodyguards and servants to stay, at least a hundred people." The junior manager replied, standing next to Li Ke.
Li Ke took two steps forward and saw a group of people entangled in the middle of the battlefield. Several of them had blood on their heads, but Li Ke couldn't see if anyone was trapped underneath them.
As soon as she walked over, the people surrounding her parted to make way for her, and Li Ke immediately drew her gun and fired three shots into the sky.
The group of more than twenty people entangled in front of them suddenly fell silent. Li Ke said coldly, "Withdraw my men and bring in the troublemakers as well. Anyone who dares to stop me will be shot."
Upon hearing the order, Li Ke's men immediately sprang into action. Someone outside the wall cried out urgently, "You're using your power to intimidate us! You're being unreasonable! Your men attacked first!"
As soon as the other person finished speaking, Li Ke fired a shot into the instep of the man. The man immediately collapsed to the ground in pain, feeling as if all his toes were ruined.
Li Ke, holding the gun, said coldly, "Does anyone have any objections?"
No one dared to speak again. Li Ke's men had all entered the courtyard, including those who had fought with them, who were also brought into their own yard. Half of them were covered in blood.
Li Ke ordered that the seriously injured be taken to the medical tent for treatment, including the person she had shot. She didn't want to cause several deaths because of this incident.
Standing at the entrance to the breached wall, Li Ke looked at the deep pit not far away: "Whose idea was this?"
No one answered. Li Ke pointed his gun at one of the men who looked somewhat familiar, vaguely remembering that he was also a manager.
Seeing the gun pointed at him, the foreman quickly said, "It was the foreman, the foreman ordered it, we just did as he said."
Li Ke then asked, "Where is your foreman?"
The person opposite looked around, then said with a bitter face, "He was just here a moment ago, he must have run away after hearing the gunshots."
Li Ke: "You have two hours to fill in the hole and completely repair my courtyard wall. Until the owner of this land brings the foreman to apologize to us, you are to stop all work. If you want to resume work, contact the person in charge as soon as possible."
Li Ke selected five people to form a temporary guard team, set up a small tent by the wall, and gave each person a gun with only one bullet in each gun, and asked them to supervise the construction by the wall.
The contractor across the street had run away, and the homeowner hadn't shown up. These people were intimidated by the guns and naturally dared not cause any more trouble.
