Chapter 317 Animal Rescue Team

Li Ke had already confirmed the voice she heard. After thinking for a moment, she roughly figured that it was probably someone from above who had brought the mutated wolves and mutated dogs they had studied to carry out a mission, and their target was likely them.

Otherwise, Li Ke couldn't think of anyone else who could bring so many wolves and dogs to appear at this time, since there were no living creatures around when she went out to collect supplies and patrol before.

The rain was still pouring down on people's bodies, and Li Ke heard that Mo Qing's breathing was still very heavy. She asked, "Are you feeling unwell?"

After a two-second pause, Li Ke heard Mo Qing's reply: "No, it's just that my throat is a little sore. You don't need to worry about me."

Mo Qing, with the large hood of her raincoat pulled down, leaned on Li Ke's shoulder. The wind and rain poured down between heaven and earth, and even though the two were close together, they were blocked by the raging rain. Li Ke turned her head, but could not see Mo Qing's complexion.

But she had a gut feeling that Mo Qing's situation might not be good. The water level was rising rapidly again, and the two groups of people behind her were sometimes visible and sometimes hidden through the rain. The main character, whose animal sounds could be faintly heard in front of her, had not yet revealed his true appearance.

With water everywhere and nowhere to put down, Li Ke struggled forward while considering whether to knock Mo Qing unconscious and take her into his spatial dimension.

His brain was constantly thinking and weighing the options, but his steps were steady and powerful, never stopping for a moment. He hadn't seen the group of animals ahead yet, but he could already hear their panting.

There were at least a dozen of them, and only animal sounds were heard; there was not a single human sound.

A series of thuds exploded in Li Ke's ears. These were foreign objects in the rainwater hitting her helmet. In the blink of an eye, the water level had reached Li Ke's waist. In front of her, there seemed to be small black dots churning in the rainwater.

Li Ke took a helmet out of his backpack and put it on Mo Qing to protect his head from foreign objects in the rain. As for entering the space, those little things were already approaching rapidly, so Li Ke gave up on that plan.

In the distance, the little creatures could be vaguely seen, sometimes popping up on the surface of the water and sometimes disappearing again. Their barking had long since ceased, but Li Ke knew that they had discovered their group and were rapidly advancing towards them.

Sure enough, in less than half an hour, Li Ke was finally able to see the group of small creatures, which were not small in size, in their entirety.

Their faces were cold and aloof, their bodies the size of adults. They were more agile and powerful than fish in the flood. The huge wolf and dog heads that were slowly approaching would have scared away many people if their fur hadn't been wet from the rain.

Li Ke stopped in her tracks, her eyes also flashing with cold light as she watched the group of large creatures swim towards her. Mo Qing sensed that Li Ke's body had stopped, and with a sliver of consciousness remaining, she forced herself to stay alert.

Mo Qing raised her head slightly and said with difficulty and sullen voice, "If you're tired, just put me down. You've done enough. It's not your responsibility."

Li Ke raised his voice and said, "The rescue team is here, so don't let me down."

Upon hearing Li Ke's reply, Mo Qing struggled to lift his heavy head slightly, trying to search for where the rescue was. However, what came into view was a pack of huge wolfhounds paddling on all fours.

These terrifyingly large creatures instantly brought Mo Qing back to his senses. He instinctively tightened his grip and exclaimed, "Are you sure this is a rescue?"

With only these animals present and no human beings in sight, Mo Qing felt that they were more likely to be used as food.

As they were talking, the alpha wolf had already reached within ten meters of Li Ke. After only a breath, it leaped into the water and stood upright in front of Li Ke.

This is a self-centered and wicked creature. Its first instinct is to make Li Ke submit to its domineering power, even though it is a huge wolf that has fallen into the water.

Unfortunately, it was facing Li Ke, who was equally unwilling to admit defeat. As it leaped over and stood upright, Li Ke swiftly grabbed the creature by the throat and lifted its entire body out of the water.

The guys following behind stopped when they saw this. Some stood up and shouted loudly, while others swam around and dived underwater. The big one in Li Ke's hand, having lost all face, still twisted its body fiercely, trying to break free from Li Ke's grasp.

If it could speak at this moment, it would probably curse: "Anyone who gets choked will struggle violently!"

Ah! Master, it didn't save a good person!

Seeing that it was about time, Li Ke used one hand to fling the alpha wolf out, sending it exploding into a large water cannon on the water more than ten meters away.

"Who asked you to save me? You think you can show off in front of me, little wolf? You've got the wrong person!" Li Ke retorted inwardly.

A large dog emerged from the water, its tongue lolling out, and circled around Li Ke in a fawning manner. Li Ke glanced at the tracking device on its collar, then untied a buckle from its harness.

A small waterproof bag was tied to the rope, containing a miniature walkie-talkie and an automatically inflatable life jacket. There were about two or three such small waterproof bags tied to each dog.

Li Ke only took one out. Although the dog next to her had rather narrow and frightening eyes, and its pupils were an unusual dark blue, it was very intelligent and friendly. Seeing that Li Ke only took one life bag, it brought the other rope buckle closer to Li Ke's hand, indicating that she should take it out as well.

The alpha wolf, having been humiliated by Li Ke, flipped over in the water, shook its head violently, and leaped towards Li Ke, howling as if to express its anger.

Unfortunately, its neck had not yet recovered. A broken, hollow sound came from the rain, which angered it so much that it splashed and jumped in the water a few more times before standing up and howling. It then called to its other companions and continued on its way past Li Ke.
