A solar energy mine the size of a fingernail was offered at a price that could be mined for at least ten years by a high-grade energy mine. Upon hearing this price, everyone present fell silent.
They knew it would be expensive, but no one made an offer, and no one acted for a while.
The host maintained a smile throughout, and showed no surprise at the complete silence in the room.
"We have a wide variety of goods available for trading here, and solar energy minerals will be on display for three days. You all have plenty of time to consider them."
The noise in the crowd rose again, and everyone started moving around. Some continued to study and ask questions around the solar energy mine, while others simply gave up and turned to look for other targets.
After Xia Ji's other two teammates returned after dealing with the bodies, the three exchanged glances, and Xia Ji knew that a lot had happened.
Seeing their interaction, Li Ke said to Xia Ji, "You two chat, I'll walk around and see what's going on."
As the group watched Li Ke walk away towards other exhibition areas, the teammate who had initially followed Li Ke approached Xia Ji and relayed everything he had seen and heard to Xia Ji without missing a single detail.
When another teammate entered the room, he also saw the terrible scene inside. After hearing the details again, he couldn't help but say, "You really can't judge a book by its cover. I never expected that someone who looks so upright and beautiful could be so ruthless and decisive."
Xia Ji's expression remained unchanged after hearing this: "How could a woman like her have made it this far without her own methods to establish herself in such a chaotic world?"
Looking at Li Ke's back in the exhibition hall in the distance, Xia Jicai said after a while, "That's a Japanese person. The attack on her is probably related to that treasure. Pass out the information you just got and have the higher-ups investigate where that group's base is. Save those who should be saved and kill those who should be killed."
Before leaving, the subordinate asked one more question: "Should we also report on how we obtained this information?"
Xia Ji withdrew his gaze, and with a blink of his eyes, he spoke: "No need to report in such detail."
As the distance between Li Ke and the solar energy mine increased, his chest gradually calmed down. There had been a series of slight tremors there, and this urgent tremor had not stopped since the solar energy mine was pushed out.
Li Ke's emotions were inevitably affected as well. She tried her best to suppress the fluctuations and stayed there with Xia Ji for a while longer.
This slight tremor wasn't her own heartbeat; it was the vibration of her own space. For the first time, it made a sound in Li Ke's chest, as if it had given her another restless heart.
Although it didn't speak, Li Ke easily understood its meaning: it wanted this energy mineral and desperately desired it.
Li Ke's heart trembled for a moment because of this strange movement, but she forcibly suppressed her shock so that Xia Ji would not notice anything amiss.
Li Ke's feelings were quite complicated. The space had indeed brought her a lot of convenience, but if this thing was conscious, Li Ke couldn't help but become wary.
Now that it has what it wants, will it want more in the future? Li Ke cannot allow himself to fall into this passive position.
Suddenly the lights went out again, and before anyone could react, Li Ke heard the sound of a bullet being chambered.
The sound was almost simultaneous with the lights going out. Her body moved faster than her consciousness, and she instantly collapsed and hid by the side of the exhibition stand.
The moment he drew his pistol, intense gunfire and screams of panic and trampling filled the hall. Li Ke scanned the dimly lit hall; gunfire was everywhere, but the most intense was in the energy hall.
Soon, gunshots rang out from above the hall, targeting the people below who were causing trouble with guns. However, both sides were armed with machine guns and pistols, so friendly fire was inevitable. Judging from their unreserved way of firing at each other, they didn't seem to care about the lives of others.
The faint light emitted by the solar energy mine seemed steadfast and eternal. Amidst the chaos before him, Li Ke couldn't help but feel tempted. Should he take advantage of the confusion to steal something?
Thinking about the spatial anomalies, Li Ke still hesitated. Just then, three figures ran towards the solar energy mine from three different directions.
Li Ke shrank back, leaning against the display stand, his eyes fixed on who would be the first to snatch this item.
The lights finally came on again, and at the same time, two startling screams rang out in the hall. The two people who had fallen behind grabbed the black crystal, trying to snatch the light energy ore from the first person who had been lying on the platform and picked up the black crystal box.
Along with the screams, sparks of fire ignited on the two men, brilliant but fleeting, before they collapsed to the ground, their lives gone in the blink of an eye.
The gunfire had ceased. A pair of large hands, clad in black armor and gloves, removed the black crystal box from the arms of the motionless first person and placed it back in the center of the display stand.
With a single touch, the long-frozen black shadow turned into ashes scattered on the ground. Everyone who witnessed this scene was speechless at the same time; it was indeed true.
The organizers sent people to clean up the venue. The robbers have been apprehended, and they will compensate any injured or deceased guests according to the circumstances.
The banquet tonight has been called off. The exhibition hall will be open again for the next three days at set times. Guests who wish to make an order can do so during the opening period.
Xia Ji led his men to Li Ke's side: "How are you? Are you injured?"
Li Ke shook her head. Xia Ji saw that she was indeed alright and, considering her abilities, didn't ask any more questions. He led the group out of the exhibition hall.
On his way out, Li Ke saw the bodies of the Zheng couple. Their son was lying next to them with a gunshot wound to the abdomen, and his condition looked very dangerous. Rescue workers had not yet arrived at their location.
