Li Ke woke up to find herself being picked up by the sea. She was surrounded by seawater, and a rope was tied around her waist. Someone on the boat in front of her shouted, "It's caught! It's caught! Pull it back quickly!"
It wasn't Mandarin that was being spoken, but Li Ke inexplicably understood it. She didn't struggle; she just asked her spatial consciousness in her mind, "What's going on?"
Receiving no response, Li Ke moved her hands and feet, thankfully they were all intact. A moment later, a dagger appeared in her hand, indicating that she could use the spatial storage again.
She was wearing a dark blue work uniform, which was now heavy with water. There were many thick ice spikes on the surface of the water, and the force of dragging her tore open a gap. Li Ke took the opportunity to turn over and see who had trapped her.
A few meters away was a ten-meter-long iron fishing boat with five people standing at the bow, all pulling hard on a rope.
Li Ke's face was almost completely covered by her wet hair. Through the gaps in her hair, she could see that the people on the boat were struggling, so she secretly brushed away the broken ice in front of her with her hand.
"This guy's body is intact, Dr. Cheng and the others should take it, right?"
"It would be better if it were alive, as living animals are more valuable. If it's been dead for too long, we'll just have to deal with it ourselves."
"They're definitely not alive. We've been collecting corpses from the sea for almost half a month now. All the living ones have already been taken. It's already a miracle if we can find a whole body now."
"Luckily, the weather is cold now, so these things can still be used after being picked up. I wonder what happened, how could there be so many dead people and dead fish?"
"The people at Dr. Cheng's place should know, right? Didn't someone find a lot of living people and sell them over there at the beginning? But I think it was probably a firefight at sea or something like a storm, right?"
"Who cares? We're getting a good deal anyway. Let's push harder! We're almost there. This guy's fully clothed, and he's so heavy! If it weren't so cold, I'd really like to strip him naked!"
Li Ke silently thanked the weather, but if any guy dared to come down and strip her clothes, she would make sure they never left.
"With hair this long, is it a man or a woman?" someone on board asked. Li Ke had already reached the front of the ship and could feel the force lifting him up.
"It must be a man, otherwise it wouldn't be this heavy. And the hair isn't that long either; even men who haven't had a haircut in months can have hair this long," someone replied.
Li Ke's shoulder was grabbed, and someone tried to pull her hair. She braced herself against the side of the boat, and the men immediately relaxed and dragged her onto the boat.
Someone accidentally fell backward and landed on the ground, and the others followed suit and sat down on the deck to rest. In just a short while, they were all quite exhausted.
"Judging from the shape of this body, it looks quite like a living person."
"What are you dreaming about? Can't you see that your body is completely flat and there's not a single ripple? You're long dead."
"There shouldn't be any other gains today. Let Owen take the boat back. Fifth Brother, go help him." A man standing to the side, resting with his hands on his hips, gave the order.
Li Ke lay quietly on the ground, the water staining a large area of the deck. Listening to the sounds around her, she deduced that there were only six people on the ship, and the missing person must be Owen, who was steering the ship.
The fifth man stood up, but didn't leave. He walked over to the person on the ground and said, "Let me see what this person looks like. There's not a single wound on his body. He should fetch a good price, hehe."
Several people nearby also curiously gathered around. To be honest, they had managed to rescue some living people before, but whether they were alive or dead, they were all dressed in tattered clothes and covered in injuries.
It's not uncommon for bodies to be missing limbs, but a corpse like this, with not a single hole in its body, perfectly clean and tidy, is truly rare.
"His outfit is nice, give it to me, I'm about the same height as her anyway," someone else said, their voice laced with greed.
“I want one too. We’ll split it later. You can’t have the whole set!” the fifth brother said, reaching out his hand toward Li Ke’s head.
Another person squatted down to the side and reached his hands to Li Ke's neckline, trying to strip her clothes off.
At that moment, the dead woman who had been lying on the deck suddenly made a lightning-fast move, grabbing the two people closest to her with one hand each.
Each person had one hand. The icy touch, the terrifying strength, and the body that suddenly stood upright not only made the two big men who had been captured scream, but also made the other three weak in the knees, screaming and crawling backward on the deck.
Li Ke shoved the two men in his hands toward each other, and the two grown men crashed into each other uncontrollably like chicks. To make sure, Li Ke quickly grabbed their heads and slammed them together again, and the two men immediately passed out.
The men on the ground thought they had seen a water ghost and were so frightened that their legs went weak and they screamed for a while. But when they saw their two brothers being dealt with in the blink of an eye, they mustered up their courage to fight back.
In the past few years of surviving the apocalypse, what haven't they seen besides ghosts? They've seen far more things than ghosts.
Clenching their senses, one of them pulled out a pistol and aimed it at Li Ke. Seeing this, Li Ke immediately slammed one of the men in her arms down, bending the man's hand that was holding the gun so that he couldn't lift it.
A man ran out from the cabin ahead, carrying a rifle, and tried to shoot Li Ke. Li Ke shielded another man in front of him and pushed him forward.
