Opportunity 132

Jiang Xi thought for a moment, then rummaged through a cabinet in the main room and pulled out an iron dagger for her: "Use this... this is faster."

Lin took it, turning it over and over, looking at it with great delight: "Thank you, Xiaoxi... I really like it."

Seeing her happy, Jiang Xi patted her head. Her hair was exceptionally smooth after being combed, though it was a bit long.

Seeing that it was inconvenient for her to have her hair down, Jiang Xi took out a hair tie she had made from rattan fibers, which she had dyed red, and skillfully tied Lin's hair into a ponytail.

Lin was very satisfied, swinging her ponytail back and forth. She happily said to Jiang Xi, "I remember..."

He stopped abruptly, as if he had thought of something.

Jiang Xi asked her, "What do you remember?"

Lin's eyes were slightly misty: "I used to be like this...."

This is how my dad braided my hair.

Something suddenly touched her heart, and Jiang Xi pursed her lips and said softly, "Lin, everything will be alright."

Gradually, she was able to become a normal person like them.

Finally, they packed up the pots and pans and set off, making a lot of noise with all the clanging and banging.

We followed the original route, passing through the canyon to the lake and down to the bottom of the cliff.

As Jiang Xi passed by the wild peach grove, she couldn't help but take another look at the peaches. They were a little bigger than before; they used to be only the size of soybeans, but now they were slightly larger than peanuts.

Although Yan Jing'an kept saying it was a sour peach, Jiang Xi felt that even if it was a bitter peach, she had to try it. Not letting any food go to waste was the least she could do to show respect for wilderness survival.

Lin was still a little afraid of Yan Jing'an and Yan Zheng, so she followed Jiang Xi everywhere she went, and she would also curiously peek at whatever Jiang Xi saw.

Jiang Xi felt like she had found a plant teacher, and she wanted to learn about all kinds of plants, and Lin patiently explained them to her.

The two girls chattered away the whole way, making the canyon road less dull.

As they crossed the canyon, Lin pointed to a plant taller than herself and said to Jiang Xi, "This will bear... red fruit... which is delicious."

Jiang Xi had passed by it many times. Its leaves resembled those of a fern, and the leaves were very small. She had always thought it was just an ordinary tree, never expecting it to bear fruit.

At this time, tiny pink flowers, about the size of sesame seeds, have already bloomed on it. The flowers grow in clusters and have a slightly honey-like fragrance, but smelling them for too long can make you feel a little dizzy.

She was really looking forward to it, wondering what kind of fruit it would produce. If it tasted good, she would transplant it back next year.

They arrived at the lake not long after crossing the canyon, and even before reaching the lake, they could feel a slight chill.

The warm sun shines on the lake, making the water greener than before, and there are more animals. In addition to wild ducks, you can sometimes see wild birds swimming, flitting among the reeds and cattails.

Every now and then they would rush onto the lake surface, creating ripples; in short, it was a lively scene.

It seemed like Lin was here for the first time. She was very excited, her eyes sparkling with surprise and joy. She stopped following the car and would stroll around the lake or chase after the ducks.

Most of the time she would run ahead and then wait for them at the next point.

Jiang Xi was surprised to find that Lin was very fast, not in the way Yan Jing'an was skilled, but in the way he had developed through years of traversing the forest. Yan Zheng and Yan Jing'an were also very surprised.

Jiang Xi gave Yan Jing'an a wink: "How about it?"

Yan Jing'an looked on high alert: "What do you mean, how are you?"

Jiang Xi said, "I'll be your partner. You should train me well. If you two go into the forest together, won't that be twice as effective? You won't have to worry about finding food."

The thought of her future fields filled with all sorts of fruits and vegetables made Jiang Xi feel that life was even more wonderful.

Yan Jing'an gritted his teeth and said, "I thought I was shrewd and calculating, but I didn't expect you to be more far-sighted than I was. You were waiting for me here all along."

Jiang Xi fanned herself, exclaimed "Oh dear!" and said earnestly, "I'm doing this for the team, little brother, you have to understand my good intentions."

Yan Jing'an sneered, gathered his strength, and chased after her, leaving behind the words, "Then let me test her."

Jiang Xi and Yan Zheng exchanged a glance.

It's done.

Last night, Yan Zheng told her, "Try letting Yan Jing'an take charge of the forest. If the two of them can work together, they will definitely achieve much more than Yan Jing'an working alone in the forest."

When he first spoke, Jiang Xi hesitated a bit, after all, the two didn't get along. But then she thought that it wasn't a good idea to keep things stuck like this, so she might as well give it a try.

The two were walking hand in hand, talking as they went, when suddenly a dark shadow flashed before their eyes.

Yan Zheng immediately removed the bow and arrow from his shoulder: "It's a little pig."

Jiang Xi quickly said, "I'll do it."

She had been practicing with a bow and arrow for so long, and she wanted to try it out, so she took down the light bow that Yan Zheng had made for her.

Yan Zheng led the fawn, and Jiang Xi headed towards the wild boar.

On the other side, Lin was chasing wild ducks, not necessarily to catch them to eat, but to catch them and raise them like Jiang Xi did.

Suddenly hearing the sound of wind behind him, Lin trembled and turned pale. He quickly turned around and saw Yan Jing'an chasing after him like a fierce demon.

She hurriedly tried to find her way back to Jiang Xi.

He had barely taken a step when his path was blocked. Yan Jing'an pulled out the rope from his waist, his thin lips pressed into a thin line, and said in a sinister tone, "I'll give you one chance. Run forward, and if I catch you, you're finished."

Lin was so frightened that she didn't dare to breathe: "What, what are you going to do?"

Yan Jing'an took two steps forward, and Lin took three steps back, until finally his back was pressed against a big tree, with nowhere left to retreat.

She pretended to fall, grabbed some dirt from the ground and threw it at Yan Jing'an's face, thinking that it would at least make him dodge for two seconds, giving her the upper hand.

Unexpectedly, just as she raised her hand, Yan Jing'an seemed to have anticipated her next move and dodged it by sidestepping.

Then a sharp pain shot through her wrist. Lin instinctively clutched her wrist and looked down to see that Yan Jing'an had lashed her with the rope. She could clearly feel the numbness in half of her arm.

Lin wanted to call for help from Jiang Xi, but before she could even utter a sound, Yan Jing'an, who had somehow gotten hold of a tree branch, held it against her throat.

She thought to herself that it was all over, her nose stung, and her eyes instantly turned red.

Yan Jing'an took two steps closer, his eyes cold: "You know I don't have much patience, but I'm willing to give you a chance to survive."

As he spoke, he gestured in a direction with his chin: "Run forward, and I'll give you a hundred counts."

Then a sinister smile crept across his face as he added, "If I catch you, you're finished."

Immediately afterwards, Yan Jing'an released her and pushed her forward.

All his consciousness was focused on his head; Lin's mind was already blank. Without thinking, he rushed out with all his might, and behind him, he could hear Yan Jing'an loudly reading aloud.

"one two three……"
