Li Ying got straight to the point and asked her question directly.
Tang Shimu lowered his head in shame: "Junior Sister, you knew all along?"
"Do you remember what Master said about a certain kind of medicine that shouldn't be prescribed to patients? Why did you prescribe this medicine to Old Master Tang?" Li Ying questioned.
After much hesitation, Tang Shimu said, "Junior Sister, please don't ask anymore."
"Senior Brother, if something happens to the Tang family patriarch, you will be implicated, do you understand?" Li Ying didn't want to see her senior brother ruin his life because of one mistake.
"No, Old Master Tang has guaranteed that he will take full responsibility."
Li Ying grabbed Tang Shimu's arm, stared into her senior brother's eyes, and asked, "Senior brother, tell me, did you voluntarily prescribe the medicine for the Tang family patriarch, or was someone forcing you?"
Tang Shimu broke free from Li Ying's hand: "Junior Sister, I've already told you, you don't need to worry about this."
It seemed that her senior brother wouldn't tell the truth, so Li Ying could only leave in anger.
Back at the clinic, Leng Yi was learning about herbs, while Leng Ci was cleaning.
"Master."
Upon seeing Li Ying enter the house, the two little ones stood upright, like two straight little tree trunks.
"Where is Sang Zhi?"
“I went to buy things for the wedding,” Leng Yi replied.
Li Ying then remembered that her second brother and Sang Zhi were getting married; she had been so busy she had forgotten.
"So, what do you two think? Is studying medicine difficult?" Li Ying asked the two boys.
“Not difficult,” Leng Yi replied first.
Leng Ci hesitated for a moment, then nodded: "It's alright."
Li Ying immediately realized that Leng Yi was suited to study medicine, while Leng Ci might not be.
Seeing a human anatomy diagram on the table, Li Ying asked, "Who's reading this book?"
"Me." Leng Ci cautiously raised his hand.
Li Ying turned to look at Leng Ci: "Are you interested in anatomy?"
“Master, I’m interested in human corpses,” Leng Ci said without any attempt to hide it.
Leng Yi tugged at Leng Ci and winked at him.
Leng Ci stood firmly, showing no shame whatsoever for his answer.
"I understand. You're probably not suited for a clinic."
Leng Ci panicked, her eyes instantly reddening: "Master, are you trying to send me away?"
“I’m not kicking you out, I just think it’s not suitable for you to stay in the clinic. How about this, I’ll send you to school to specialize in anatomy.”
"Master, if I learn this, can I become a forensic doctor?" Leng Ci asked earnestly.
It turns out this child wanted to become a forensic doctor.
"You want to be a forensic doctor? Do you know how tough it is?"
Leng Ci nodded emphatically: "Master, I want to become a forensic doctor. If you are willing to support my studies, I will thank you."
After saying that, he knelt down on the ground with a thud and kowtowed several times.
"Alright, get up. What era are we living in? Still using this kind of nonsense?" Li Ying pulled Leng Ci over and gently straightened his collar. "You want to be a forensic doctor, that's a very noble ideal. I'll send you to school first, and you must work hard to get into medical school so you'll have the opportunity to become a forensic doctor."
Leng Ci nodded heavily, her eyes red and swollen, on the verge of tears.
Leng Yi glanced at Leng Ci and said to Li Ying, "Master, I only want to learn medicine from you."
He doesn't like dealing with corpses; studying traditional Chinese medicine is much more comfortable for him.
"good."
Leng Ci was sent by Leng Yan, so we still need to discuss this matter with Leng Yan.
When Li Ying found Leng Yan, he was smoking in his office, the whole room filled with smoke, making it hard for people to breathe.
Leng Yan immediately got up, opened the window, and drove away the smoke.
"Leng Yan, are you trying to commit suicide?"
"Lost in thought." Leng Yan stubbed out his cigarette and asked, "Why did you come looking for me?"
"I came to tell you about Leng Ci. He wants to become a forensic doctor, and I'm thinking of sending him to school. I came to let you know."
Leng Yan's tone was icy: "Once someone sends you there, it's yours. You don't need to come here and tell me."
"You don't seem to be in a good mood?"
Leng Yan took the cigarette out of his mouth and threw it on the table.
"Jing Chi is unwilling to form a marriage alliance with the Tang family, but Aunt Jing is making me form a marriage alliance with the Tang family. Don't you think that's ridiculous?"
Li Ying realized that Leng Yan never wanted to marry anyone; everything he did was for the power he held.
Now that Jing Chi has returned, it means that most of his power has been reduced. If he doesn't agree to Aunt Jing's request, Leng Yan will likely be abandoned by Aunt Jing and will no longer be of any use to her.
What do you think?
"A scholar can be killed, but not humiliated."
Li Ying was amused by Leng Yan: "Actually, Tang You from the Tang family is quite good in both character and academics."
Leng Yan smiled coldly: "I'm not bad either. Do you like me even a little bit?"
Li Ying was speechless.
"You see, even if someone is the best person in the world, you won't like them if you don't like them. I don't believe in love." Leng Yan leaned back in his chair, playing with a lighter.
His only concern was Aunt Jing's threat: if he didn't agree, he would have to hand over most of his existing resources to Jing Chi.
Jing Chi had already taken control of half of the Jing family's assets after entering headquarters, and now they're taking half of his other half, forcing him to back down.
"I can't give you advice on your own affairs, but I only know one thing: live from your heart. If you don't like something, don't do it, no matter what."
After finishing her sentence, Li Ying left without lingering and returned to the Li family home.
Chenchen went shopping with Sangzhi and is currently at the Li family's house.
As soon as Li Ying stepped into her home, Ah Hu rushed over.
"Miss Ying, something terrible has happened! The Tang family patriarch has died from bleeding, and your eldest brother has been arrested."
Things happened much faster than I expected.
Li Ying didn't care about anything else and followed Ah Hu to the police station.
Xiang Ming couldn't show favoritism.
“Sister-in-law, Tang Shimu is a suspect now, we can’t let you see him.”
"Xiang Ming, I know, but please tell my senior brother that he must tell the truth and not hide anything."
"Okay, sister-in-law, we will pass it on."
Li Ying knew from the crying outside the police station that it was her senior brother's mother.
Li Ying rushed out, and Tang's mother squatted on the ground, crying uncontrollably.
"Why is my life so miserable? I lost my daughter-in-law, I lost my grandson, and now I'm going to lose my son too. God, please take me away and don't let my son suffer anymore."
"Auntie, please listen to me. The police station will give us an explanation. Let's go back first."
Li Ying helped Tang's mother back home and asked her about the situation to see if she could find any clues.
“These past few days, he’s been saving all the money he’s earned and giving it to me. He even said that if something really happens to him one day, I should use this money to support myself in my old age. I felt something was off at the time, but I never expected him to prescribe that kind of medicine for Grandpa Tang. What kind of family is the Tang family? They won’t let Shi Mu off the hook.” Tang’s mother cried so hard she almost fainted.
