Chapter 220 What right do you have to lecture her?

A blatant test!

Aunt Jing had been observing Li Ying's expression. She seemed to really care about Li Ying's attitude, and even more so about Li Ying's love for Jing Chi.

“Aunt Jing, I am a woman and I don’t know what men are thinking. I only know that when a person loves someone deeply, no matter what happens, it will not change.”

Isn't she just trying to hear me say something that will make her happy?

But why say that?

Li Ying had been too accommodating to Aunt Jing before, and too eager to take care of a mother's feelings, which is why she was careful to be tactful and maintain a proper balance. Now that Aunt Jing is pressing her for answers again, it's really displeasing.

Aunt Jing's expression changed instantly: "Do you really think there's such a thing as unchanging love in this world? You're still too young, and your fantasies about love are too naive. But then again, otherwise why would you be pregnant out of wedlock?"

Another blow like this!

Li Ying's attitude was serious and earnest: "Aunt Jing, I respect you as an elder, but that doesn't mean I can tolerate your insults. Being pregnant out of wedlock is not a person's shame, but a person's past story. No one is perfect, and everyone makes mistakes. Aunt Jing, have you never made a mistake in your life? Or is it that you always feel some unnecessary fear because Jing Chi is kind to my mother and me?"

Li Ying's words left Aunt Jing speechless.

“Indeed, you are a mother, and everything you do is for your son, which I can understand. But I am also a mother. My son is not without parents; he has a mother and a father. No one can replace his father’s position. I hope Aunt Jing can face her own beliefs.”

After Li Ying finished speaking, she got up, picked up her medical kit, and left.

At the gate, we encountered Jing Chi's car, which was about to drive into the yard.

Li Ying ignored her and continued walking out.

Jing Chi stopped his car, opened the door, quickly went to Li Ying, and grabbed her wrist.

"Li Ying, even if we're friends, shouldn't we at least greet each other when we meet?"

Does she really have to create such a distance and divide the relationship so decisively?

"Young Master Jing, as you've probably heard, I'm currently investigating the poisoning case at the restaurant with Xiang Ming, so it's not convenient for me to say much to you."

Jing Chi frowned: "What do you mean? You suspect that the restaurant incident is related to me?"

"I didn't, I just guessed it was related to the Jing family, so it's best if we avoid each other."

Li Ying shook off Jing Chi, opened the car door, and got in.

Watching Li Ying's car leave, Jing Chi frowned, turned around and got back into his car, driving it into the yard.

In the living room, Aunt Jing was talking badly about Li Ying to Xiao Hui, saying that Li Ying was arrogant and disrespectful to elders, and that whoever married such a woman would be unlucky.

"Mom, why did you call Li Ying here again? To humiliate her?" Jing Chi asked angrily.

Aunt Jing was even angrier: "I only asked her to come and see me, who knew she was so arrogant, I couldn't even say a word to her."

"What right do you have to talk about her like that?"

Aunt Jing stood up: "Jing Chi, I am your mother, how dare you speak to me like that?"

Jing Chi waved his hand: "Are you going to use this identity to suppress me for the rest of my life? Yes, you are my mother, but have you ever raised me?"

Aunt Jing was ashamed when asked: "Jing Chi!"

Jing Chi didn't want to argue with her and strode upstairs.

"Madam, please don't take it to heart by taking it to heart by the young master. He's still young and needs your guidance in many things," Xiao Hui advised from the side.

"He's still young? He's almost thirty, yet he can't distinguish right from wrong, and he doesn't understand gratitude or resentment. How could I have given birth to such a son?"

Thinking about how she had risked her health to try the poison on herself in order to cure her son, and how her body had become so ruined, only to have her son not only fail to understand but also act arrogantly, Aunt Jing became more and more heartbroken. She said to Xiao Hui, "Call Leng Yan and ask him to come over to dinner with me tonight."

"Madam, this isn't a good idea."

"What's wrong with that? The restaurant incident hasn't been investigated yet, and Leng Yan still has the freedom to do things his own way."

"If you do this, the young master will be sad."

“He won’t be sad; he only cares about that mother and child.”

Li Ying parked the car outside the yard, got out, and went straight back to the backyard.

Aunt Zhang brought Chenchen back from grocery shopping. When she saw Li Ying, she said, "Chenchen was clamoring for shrimp today. I saw there were a lot more shrimp at the market today, so I bought some. We'll have some salt-baked shrimp for dinner tonight."

"Yay! Yay!" Chenchen clapped happily.

"Thank you for your hard work, Aunt Zhang."

"It's not hard work."

Aunt Zhang went to cook, and Li Ying pulled Chenchen to sit in the yard.

"Look at your little hands, where did you get this?"

Chenchen pouted and didn't say anything.

Li Ying pulled Chenchen over and helped him wash his hands.

"Mom, my stomach doesn't feel good."

Li Ying hurriedly pulled Chenchen over, checked him over, and then looked at his little hands. His hands were stained with the color of a type of green vegetable. She smelled them and was immediately alarmed. She picked up Chenchen and took him into the clinic to give him acupuncture.

Chenchen vomited for a while before slowly closing her eyes and falling asleep under the influence of the medication.

Li Ying asked Leng Yi to keep an eye on Chenchen while she asked Aunt Zhang where Chenchen went to play during the day.

"I took Chenchen home today, and I was just about to tell you this. A very strange person moved in next door. They put some flowers and plants in the yard, as well as some oddly shaped stones. What's even stranger is that the gate is open, and anyone can come in. I heard from the people in my village that this person said they had nowhere to go, so they rented a house in our village, right next to mine. It's making me really uneasy."

"Did Chenchen go into that courtyard?"

Aunt Zhang thought for a moment and nodded: "He went in and played with my little grandson for a while."

"Your grandson went in too?"

"Yes, what happened?" Aunt Zhang asked in alarm.

"Aunt Zhang, I'll get you some medicine. You should go back quickly and check if your grandson is vomiting or has a high fever. Remember to give him this medicine. If all else fails, take him to the hospital immediately."

Li Ying handed the medicine she had just prepared to Aunt Zhang.

Aunt Zhang was puzzled, but seeing how nervous Li Ying was, she realized it wasn't a joke, so she took off her apron and hurriedly left.

When Li Ying returned, she told Leng Yi to go about her business and sat down to watch over Chenchen.

"Master, what's wrong with Chenchen?"

"He's been poisoned."

"Poisoning?"

Li Ying nodded: "You may not know this, but some seemingly harmless grasses may carry toxins that you can't see. These toxins are absorbed from other parts of the plant and then deposited on the leaves. Adults won't be affected if they touch it, but it's different for children. Children have weaker immune systems, and if they come into contact with this plant, they will experience poisoning."

Leng Yi listened intently, unable to believe that such a peculiar plant existed in the world.

"Master, is there an antidote for this poison?"

"Yes, everything has its counterpart. Leng Yi, go find Officer Xiang and ask him to come to the clinic. I have something important to tell you."
