Chapter 227 Cold Banquet, Let's Stick Together for Warmth

Someone vandalized the clinic, trying to force Li Ying to leave home with her child. Jing Chi could guess who it was with his toes, and his expression turned cold.

"Don't worry, I will give you an explanation for this."

Li Ying looked up at Jing Chi, who understood what she meant and guessed who the person was.

"That would be best."

Li Ying turned around to check Leng Yi's injuries.

Jing Chi found Xiang Ming and offered some of his ideas. Following these ideas, Xiang Ming quickly found the men who had assaulted the man and, by following the clues, arrested Chen Yun.

Jing Chi personally interrogated him.

"Tell me, who told you to smash up the clinic?"

Chen Yun remained silent.

"Confess honestly, or your punishment will be doubled." Xiang Ming tapped the table.

Chen Yun glanced at Jing Chi, then looked at Xiang Ming: "I only told the people in your police station, he's not from the police station."

Xiang Ming slammed his hand on the table: "Stop talking nonsense! Just say it."

When pressed, Chen Yun finally admitted that Leng Yan had sent them to vandalize the clinic.

If you tell even half a lie, I won't let you get away with it!

After leaving the police station, Jing Chi went to the clinic to find Li Ying and explained the situation.

"Did Leng Yan hire people to vandalize my clinic?"

"Impossible!" Leng Yi was the first to jump out and deny it: "Uncle Leng would not do such a thing, he would never smash up a clinic."

Jing Chi looked at Li Ying and asked seriously, "Do you believe me?"

Li Ying countered, "Do you believe that?"

Jing Chi naturally didn't believe it; Leng Yan had no reason to smash Li Ying's clinic.

The only possibility is that Leng Yan was acting under someone's orders, and there is only one person who can direct Leng Yan, and that is Aunt Jing.

"I'm going to find Leng Yan."

Jing Chi demanded that Leng Yan reveal who had instigated it.

“Leng Yan won’t tell you the truth,” Li Ying called out from behind.

You should know that Leng Yan was raised by Aunt Jing. He did this, but he would never expose Aunt Jing.

Jing Chi stopped in his tracks, then turned around and looked at Li Ying: "Whether he tells the truth or not, I have to make things clear with him."

Li Ying did not stop Jing Chi; some things should be discussed openly.

Jing Chi couldn't find Leng Yan at the company or the restaurant, so he knew Leng Yan was at the Jing family's house.

Jing Chi returned to the Jing family home without stopping, and sure enough, Leng Yan was following behind Aunt Jing, watering the flowers.

This man is extremely good at being subservient and will stop at nothing to achieve his goals.

Jing Chi strode over.

"What a great time!"

Leng Yan turned around and raised an eyebrow: "You're back? Aunt Jing and I were just talking about you. You've managed the headquarters very well. I'm thinking of handing over the restaurant business to you after the lockdown is lifted."

Jing Chi knew that Leng Yan was using a feigned retreat as a tactic. He couldn't possibly give up everything in the Jing family so easily; he just wanted to act obediently in front of his mother and be a good son.

"Why did you send people to vandalize Li Ying's clinic?"

Jing Chi pressed him for an answer directly.

"Smashed up a clinic? I didn't know anything about that." Leng Yan pretended not to understand.

“Chen Yun has been caught. He has confessed that you ordered him to do this.” Jing Chi stared into Leng Yan’s eyes. He had only asked casually, but he knew better than anyone who had ordered him.

“Jing Chi, this is outrageous! How can you talk to A Yan like that? He’s Mom’s adopted son, you should call him brother.” Aunt Jing interrupted her son, trying to defend Leng Yan.

Jing Chi sneered: "Call him brother? I don't understand why an older brother would target an orphan and a widow?"

Leng Yan shrugged: "You know, Chen Yun is the kind of person who loves to make a big deal out of nothing. I've never ordered him to smash up anyone's clinic. As for Li Ying, I feel I have to make things clear in front of Aunt Jing. I did pursue her before, but this woman is arrogant and doesn't give me any face..."

"So you sent Chen Yun to vandalize her clinic?"

“I told you, I didn’t order Chen Yun to smash anyone’s clinic. Maybe Chen Yun acted on his own, and now that things have gone wrong, he’s trying to shift the blame onto me. If that’s what you think, then so be it.” Leng Yan wouldn’t shirk responsibility or take it all on herself.

Jing Chi glanced at Leng Yan, his eyes dark and gloomy: "Leng Yan, I'm warning you, you're just an adopted son of the Jing family. Don't go too far!"

After saying that, he turned around and went back to his room.

Aunt Jing looked at Leng Yan and admired his calm demeanor, and was even more pleased with the child's magnanimity.

"I never expected that the son I found would be so love-struck, Leng Yan. It seems that the Jing family may have to rely on you in the future."

"Thank you for your guidance, Aunt Jing."

Aunt Jing casually trimmed the flower branches in front of her with scissors and said, "What do you think about me sending Jing Chi abroad to study?"

Leng Yan replied, "I'm afraid Young Master Jing won't agree to leave."

Aunt Jing sighed, "It seems I really can't spoil him too much."

Leng Yan sensed a dangerous signal.

Aunt Jing began to plot in her mind how to control Jing Chi.

“Ayan, starting tomorrow, you will go to headquarters with Jing Chi to familiarize yourself with the management.”

"yes."

Leng Yan left the Jing family's residence, walked to the car, took out a cigarette, and lit it.

He even knew Aunt Jing's methods. If Jing Chi continued to disobey, he might be abandoned, but he didn't know what methods would be used.

On the shore, Leng Yan leaned against the railing, the cigarette between his fingers almost burned out.

Lu Yufei saw the forlorn man from inside the car and was momentarily dazed.

The man, who had always been full of vigor, looked bewildered at this moment.

"What's wrong now?"

Lu Yufei walked up and glanced at Leng Yan with displeasure.

She's crazy too. She received his call, and even though she had refused to see him, she still came anyway, as if possessed.

Leng Yan burned his finger with the cigarette, instinctively shook it off, and turned to look at Lu Yufei.

"Didn't you have something to say to me?" Lu Yufei felt a little uncomfortable under his gaze and distanced herself slightly.

Leng Yan gently rubbed her fingers: "I thought you wouldn't come, but you still came. It shows that I understand you, and you understand me."

"Stop talking nonsense. Did something happen at the Jing family again that you want to complain to me about?" Lu Yufei smiled coldly. "This is not like your personality, Master Leng."

Leng Yan gazed at the horizon and said, “Not everyone wants to pretend to be a king, but when fate has you by the throat, you have no choice but to become a threatening leopard in order to survive.”

“I have ambition, I want everything from the Jing family, but today, I suddenly feel that even if I get everything from the Jing family, what then? Will that little boy who used to fight with dogs for food no longer exist?”

Lu Yufei sighed: "Leng Yan, we are all people who are pushed to walk ahead. Our joys and sorrows are not our own. Pretense is our best color."

“But I’ve had enough.” Leng Yan said, taking out a cigarette case, while Lu Yufei pressed down on the back of his hand.

Leng Yan looked up and met Lu Yufei's affectionate gaze.

"Leng Yan, let's stick together and keep warm."
