Chapter 233 may have encountered even bigger trouble.

"If you put it that way, I don't seem to have any reason to refuse." Leng Yan smiled calmly, knowing that Li Ying had come prepared.

"I knew you wouldn't just stand by and do nothing."

That's a compliment!

Leng Yan found it amusing: "I'm only meddling because of you, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered with this. That girl's family is very difficult to deal with."

"That's right, it's precisely because she's so difficult that I'm even more eager to meet this girl."

Leng Yan accompanied Li Ying back to the alley. The mute aunt was overjoyed and busied herself serving tea and water to the two of them.

"Auntie, don't bother."

Leng Yan didn't say anything, still wearing that sour face.

The mute aunt glanced at Leng Yan, noticing the child's indifference, and dared not rush any further. She hurriedly went out to find the girl with the injured arm.

Leng Yan stood in front of her adoptive father's portrait, her face expressionless.

Li Ying knew that for Leng Yan, not sending the couple to jail was already considered merciful.

Buying and selling are equally criminal; don't think you're innocent. Without buying and selling, there would be no harm in this world.

Therefore, Li Ying didn't think Leng Yan was particularly heartless, nor did she believe that pitiful people necessarily deserved sympathy.

"Do you think I'm heartless? They raised me, but I don't appreciate it at all," Leng Yan suddenly asked Li Ying.

Li Ying shook her head: "You've already been very kind."

Upon hearing this assessment, Leng Yan turned to look at Li Ying. Perhaps only Li Ying would give such an evaluation; others would only think he was ungrateful and unworthy of being human.

No one knew that when he was first bought, the man would hit him on the head when he was drunk, and even tie him up with a rope and throw him a steamed bun every day.

By the time he had the ability to resist, they were already groveling on the ground, humbly begging for forgiveness.

Leng Yan had to admit that his ruthlessness had been honed during this period, so he spared their lives and allowed them to have a peaceful end.

"Brother Ayan is back?" As she spoke, Xiuzhen, who was wearing a dress with her chest bulging and her buttocks sticking out high, pushed open the door and entered the house.

Leng Yan turned around, his cold gaze sweeping over the woman, showing no interest whatsoever in her alluring figure.

"So you're the one who said Leng Su slept with you?"

It was very direct, giving Xiuzhen no chance to react at all.

"Others may not know you, but I do. You'd better go to the police station and explain yourself, or I'll expose all the shameful things you've done. Let's see how you'll ever be able to show your face in public again."

Xiuzhen was terrified by what he said, and trembled, "Brother Ayan, is this all you've said to me since you came back?"

"Otherwise what? You think I'm catching up with you!" Leng Yan pulled a fruit knife from his pocket and slammed it onto the table. "You know my methods, so don't make me say any more."

"Brother Ayan, this is a society governed by law. Don't resort to violence so easily. I'm not afraid of you." Xiuzhen crossed her arms, looking arrogant.

"Really? Then tell me, if I hire a few people to drag you to a secluded place and kill you, do you think anyone would find out? Even if they do, all I need to do is give your parents some money. Do you think they'd speak up for you?"

Xiuzhen was taken aback; she knew her parents' character better than anyone else.

“Brother Ayan, Leng Su didn’t bully me, but I took his money. If I didn’t do this, he would kill me.”

Xiuzhen seemed to be in a difficult position.

"He's just bluffing you. I could really kill you. Think about it. Who's in charge here in Shanghai?" Leng Yan wasn't just trying to scare her. Everyone knew his reputation as Master Leng.

Xiuzhen thought for a moment, then took a step forward: "Brother Ayan, if I agree to go to the police station with you, can you let me come with you? You have to protect me."

Leng Yan shook off Xiu Zhen and glanced at her disdainfully.

"I'll protect you? You're so arrogant."

Xiuzhen stubbornly insisted, "If you don't protect me, I won't tell the truth."

“Sure, then you wait here.” Leng Yan gestured to Li Ying.

Li Ying got up, and the two of them walked outside.

"Wait a minute." Xiuzhen stamped her foot. "I'll talk, I'll talk, okay?"

Wu Xiuzhen went to the police station to explain the situation. She was detained for falsely accusing someone, while Leng Su was released without charge.

When Aunt Jing, who was recuperating in the hospital, heard about this, she was so angry that she threw the bowl in her hand away.

"Where's Ayan? Call him here!"

Xiao Hui immediately called Leng Yan to the hospital.

Leng Yan pushed open the door and entered the ward.

"Aunt Jing, are you feeling better?"

Aunt Jing grabbed something from the bedside table and threw it at Leng Yan. Leng Yan didn't dodge and caught the thing that was thrown at him.

"Ayan, you actually helped that Leng Su?"

"Aunt, is the matter with Leng Su related to you?" Leng Yan feigned surprise. "You didn't tell me about this, so I didn't know it was you who did it. When Li Ying came to me, I thought she had helped me once before, so I helped her back. I never expected that it was you who did this."

Aunt Jing was speechless after hearing what he said.

Ignorance is no excuse.

Leng Yan made it clear that she didn't know this was something you instructed her to do, otherwise she would never have helped Li Ying, leaving you with no room for criticism.

“Ayan, I asked you to get close to Li Ying before because I wanted you to be with her. But now, you have let me down and failed to complete the task I gave you. She is already with Jing Chi, so why are you still helping her?”

Leng Yan stood still with his hands at his sides: "Aunt, who Li Ying is with is her business. We are just ordinary friends. She asked me for a favor, and I couldn't refuse, so I helped her. But Aunt, don't you trust Jing Chi, and you don't trust me either?"

Aunt Jing was stumped by the question.

If she had told Leng Yan earlier that she had someone frame Leng Su, things probably wouldn't have turned out this way.

"Alright, let's leave it at that. You can leave too; I want some peace and quiet."

The banquet ended.

In the ward, Aunt Jing held her head, feeling very troubled. How could she possibly separate her son from that woman?

The door was pushed open, and Aunt Jing looked up unhappily: "Didn't I tell you to go back? Why...you?"

"Aunt Jing, don't you remember me?" Nan Shiran took off her hat, a hint of a smile flashing in her phoenix eyes.

Leng Yan got into the car, his fingers gently stroking the steering wheel. He had just seen a woman wearing a hat and wrapped up tightly in her clothes walk into Aunt Jing's ward. He wasn't sure who she was, but she was definitely not an ordinary person.

Leng Yan took out a cigarette, put it in his mouth, lit it, and took puffs.

As long as Aunt Jing dislikes Jing Chi, he can rightfully take over all of the Jing family's assets and become a superior person, living a glamorous life.

But is a cold banquet what you want?

Right? After being a dog for so many years, it's time to turn the tables and become the master.

Jing Chi, it's your own fault for being so useless, don't blame me.

Inside the clinic, Jing Chi sat with Chenchen in the courtyard, lost in thought.

"What's wrong?" Li Ying asked, noticing his absent-mindedness.

"Li Ying, we may be in even bigger trouble."
