Chapter 25 Encountering the Junior Brother

Li Ying's eyes were light-colored, and she did not argue further.

When a department doesn't want you, saying more is pointless and will only make them more resentful.

"Thank you, Director. I will consider it."

As Li Ying left the director's office, she ran into Academician Cao.

Academician Cao approached with a broad smile. "Comrade Li Ying, I heard what the director said. He had no choice. How about this: you can join my research group. I won't discriminate based on seniority or exclude you for any other reason. What do you say?"

Li Ying glanced at Academician Cao. Tian Li had told her about this man in private; he was adept at scheming and had taken credit for many of the academic papers that were originally written by his students.

Such people, who appear gentle on the surface but are insidious at heart, are even more despicable!

"Thank you, Academician Cao, but I don't think I'm qualified to join your research group."

After saying that, he turned and left.

Academician Cao was furious; Li Ying was far too arrogant!

Wait, if the Traditional Chinese Medicine department doesn't want her, who else in the department would dare to take Li Ying?

Li Ying didn't care at all. She had been specially recruited into the military hospital by her superiors, and she was giving face to the big leaders. But now that someone was questioning her, there was no need for her to stay here.

After thinking it over, Li Ying decided to go to the dean to resign.

As Li Ying walked towards the dean's office, she saw a familiar figure. Not sure if she was seeing things, she called out, "Junior Brother!"

The man, who was about to step up the stairs, turned around. The white coat he wore accentuated his tall and slender figure, making him stand out even more.

"Yingying?!"

"Junior Brother!"

Li Ying ran up to Lu Qingzhu, too excited to say anything.

It had been three years since she last contacted her senior brothers. She never expected to see her junior brother here.

"It really is you!" Lu Qingzhu was pleasantly surprised. She grabbed Li Ying's shoulders and examined her closely before finally complaining, "You brat, look how thin you've become!"

The chubby, round junior sister who used to follow them is gone, replaced by someone as thin as a matchstick.

"Junior brother, tell me quickly, what are you doing here?"

Li Ying excitedly pulled Lu Qingzhu aside and asked her questions.

Lu Qingzhu pulled her to find a quiet place to talk.

Rong Ning witnessed this scene.

"Li Ying, she really does like to flirt!"

Rong Ning was deep in thought when she turned around and saw Tian Li holding a thermos box, so she stepped forward and stopped Tian Li.

“I saw Li Ying, and she seemed to be unwell.”

"Where?" Tian Li asked in a panic.

"It's in the pavilion up ahead," Rong Ning pointed ahead.

Without thinking twice, Tian Li walked towards the pavilion.

Rong Ning turned around and saw Academician Cao, who always liked to hang around the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital.

“Academician Cao, the comrade Li Ying you admire is currently in the pavilion, seemingly having a secret rendezvous with someone.”

"What?" Academician Cao already harbored some resentment towards Li Ying for refusing to join their research group. Now, hearing Rong Ning say that Li Ying had a secret rendezvous with someone, he realized that this was a matter of character. Li Ying was also a military family member. If things escalated, this woman would have to get out of there.

Thinking of this, a sinister look appeared on Academician Cao's face.

"Take me to see this quickly!"

Lu Qingzhu and Li Ying sat down in the pavilion and immediately asked about their master and fellow disciples.

Lu Qingzhu then relayed everyone's information to Li Ying one by one.

"If I had known that Master was traveling around, I would have gone with him."

"You've recovered from being love-struck?" Lu Qingzhu teased.

Everyone strongly opposed her dating Lu Xingzhou, including Li Ying's parents and two brothers. But Li Ying was determined to date Lu Xingzhou.

Only now has Li Ying truly understood the classic saying, "Those who do not heed the advice of their elders will suffer the consequences."

"Junior brother, I have broken up with Lu Xingzhou. I am now married to Ye Jingchi."

What?

Lu Qingzhu jumped up in disbelief.

"Junior sister, are you jumping into one fire pit after another?"

What were they thinking? Getting married once is one thing, but to get married twice so hastily is quite another.

"Junior brother, to tell you the truth, I'm pregnant."

Li Ying couldn't say she didn't know who the child's father was, so she could only say it was Ye Jingchi.

"He who got you pregnant out of wedlock isn't a good person either!"

Lu Qingzhu was truly disappointed in his junior sister. If he had known earlier that his junior sister had gone through all this, he would have found Li Ying and brought her back long ago, and none of this mess would have happened.

"Junior brother, I know you care about me, but don't worry, I won't be so ignorant in the future."

Her decision to continue practicing medicine demonstrates her determination.

Love is all nonsense; only career is what a person should pursue most.

Tian Li stood not far away, holding a thermos, wondering whether he should go in and remind the two of them. This was a busy hospital, and their intimate behavior was really inappropriate!

"Comrade Li Ying!"

Before Tian Li could speak, Academician Cao had already rushed into the pavilion, pointing his finger at Li Ying: "As a military family member, how could you be having an affair with someone in the hospital..."

Academician Cao turned to look at Lu Qingzhu, and was stunned. How could it be him?

The nurses Rong Ning had called gathered together, discussing animatedly, waiting for Academician Cao to clean up the filth in the hospital.

"I was wondering why Li Ying was able to be parachuted in here; turns out she has powerful backers!"

"Of course! Isn't that guy an academician from Group A of our institute?"

"Yes, yes, that's him, the youngest academician in our hospital's research group, Lu Qingzhu, I heard he's only twenty-six years old."
