Chapter 44 I never expected you to be so shameless!

"Ye Jingchi!" Li Ying struggled to avoid his kiss, her eyelashes trembling even more violently, her heart pounding faintly.

"I will not allow myself to be hurt a second time, and no one can!"

She thought love would last a lifetime, but Lu Xingzhou taught her a three-year lesson.

Ye Jingchi regained his senses, let go of her hand, and apologized: "I'm sorry, I couldn't control myself just now."

Li Ying let out a sigh of relief and quickly entered the courtyard.

She was also afraid that if she hesitated for even a moment longer, she would have another thought that she shouldn't have.

Women are always damn soft-hearted.

"Sister Yingying, dinner's ready!"

Tian Li and Aunt Yang brought the food to the table.

"These truffles taste great when fried in oil. They're also very nutritious, but picking them is hard work." Aunt Yang couldn't help but share her thoughts: "No one would have the patience to go to the mountains to pick them if they weren't truly caring."

Tian Li nodded emphatically, agreeing: "Yes, yes, Aunt Yang, who delivered these truffles?"

"It was given to me by Battalion Commander Ye."

Tian Li immediately fell silent, secretly glancing at Li Ying before quickly changing the subject: "Sister Yingying, my aunt said we're going to her house for dinner this weekend. I agreed."

Li Ying sat down and nodded: "Let's eat."

Early in the morning, Hua Chenyue delivered a truckload of potted plants.

"What are you doing...?"

"Do you like them? Hua Zhen and I bought these in Shanghai. I thought your yard was too quiet and needed some decoration, so we bought these flowers." Hua Chenyue smiled brightly.

"Hua Chenyue, you should focus on your studies." Li Ying had no intention of dating a younger man.

"Don't worry, I won't fall behind in my studies."

"Hua Shao, I heard that students in your year are applying to go to the countryside to work. Is that true?" Tian Li asked, leaning closer.

Hua Chenyue nodded: "Yes, everyone needs to choose a place after graduation."

"Where did Hua Shao choose to go?"

Hua Chenyue didn't want to go anywhere, but she couldn't help but follow the group. She sighed and said, "Well, I chose to go to the farm."

"The Great Northwest?"

"No, it's too far. I chose the nearest farm." Hua Chenyue glanced at Li Ying. He was thinking of going to the nearest farm so he could have time to come back and see Li Ying.

However, Li Ying knew that once she went to the farm, she wouldn't have the same freedom to ask for leave as she did when she was in school.

"Thank you for the flowers, I really like them."

Hua Chenyue was immediately delighted: "Sister Yingying, come to my house for the Mid-Autumn Festival. My grandma promised my sister that she would come back to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival together. You can come along too."

Li Ying gently shook her head: "No need, I promised my junior brother I would spend the Mid-Autumn Festival at his house."

Hua Chenyue was very disappointed, but she was not discouraged and left happily.

Li Ying sighed, thinking that the more innocent and naive a child is, the simpler their mind is, and the less likely they are to refuse.

Li Ying didn't go to the Jing family's house today. She was going with some doctors from the hospital to the military base to give the soldiers physical examinations and explain the usage and dosage of the new drugs to everyone.

The military arranged for someone to greet them at the main gate.

Li Ying thought Ye Jingchi wouldn't show up, since he had said he was busy with military parade training, but she still saw him.

After getting out of the car, Ye Jingchi took the lead and went to Li Ying.

"Are you carsick?"

Li Ying shook her head, giving him a look that signaled him to be mindful of the impact.

Ye Jingchi smiled, and the division commander pointed at Li Ying: "Comrade Li Ying, do you still recognize me?"

Li Ying recognized him immediately; it was Commander Yan who had gone to the countryside to deliver her college admission notice.

"Commander Yan!"

"You have a good memory! But I have to scold you a bit. You and Battalion Commander Ye got married, but you didn't send me an invitation or invite me for drinks. What, do you think I, as the division commander, can't even have a drink at your wedding?" Division Commander Yan asked with a smile.

Ye Jingchi hurriedly explained, "Commander, Li Ying and I did not hold a banquet."

"Battalion Commander Ye, I have to criticize you a bit here! Although we're having a tough time, it's not so tough that we can't even afford a few tables of food and drink, is it?"

"The teacher is right to reprimand me. I didn't pay enough attention. We'll hold the celebration together when the baby is one month old."

Li Ying glanced at Ye Jingchi, who quietly squeezed her hand, his eyes pleading, hoping not to be exposed.

Li Ying thought that Ye Jingchi just wanted to maintain his image and didn't want to lose his position as battalion commander, so she smiled obediently.

On the playground, Li Ying and her colleagues first checked everyone's health, and then explained the use of the medication.

Before they knew it, it was noon. Ye Jingchi was worried that Li Ying's health couldn't handle it, so he asked the regimental commander for permission to let the doctors go to the canteen for lunch first.

On her way to the cafeteria, Li Ying ran into Lu Xingzhou.

She really didn't want to have anything to do with Lu Xingzhou.

"Li Ying." Lu Xingzhou called out to Li Ying, "I heard from Ningning that you moved out of the Ye family."

“My affairs are none of your business, Company Commander Lu, there’s no need to gloat like this.”

Lu Xingzhou took a step closer: "Li Ying, that's not what I meant. Where are you going to go if you move out of the Ye family? The hospital dormitory isn't very good either. It must be very difficult for you to be alone now. Why don't you go back to Lu Family Village? I'll talk to my family and ask my parents to take care of you."

Li Ying found it amusing; where did Lu Xingzhou get the confidence to think she had nowhere to go and needed his pity?

“Lu Xingzhou, I’ve been working like a slave in your house for three years. Do you think I’d go back to doing the same thing again?”

“That’s not what I meant, Li Ying. You have nothing now. Even if you’re in the hospital or in a research lab, so what? You’ll still be all alone. I’ll take you in as my sister. My parents will be your parents too, and they’ll take good care of you from now on.”

Li Ying laughed coldly: "Lu Xingzhou, do you think you're very kind and benevolent? Or do you think I'm very stupid?"

Before Lu Xingzhou could say anything more, Ye Jingchi had already walked over.

"Aren't you hungry? It'll be past mealtime soon."

Ye Jingchi pulled Li Ying along, not even glancing at Lu Xingzhou, and entered the cafeteria.

Lu Xingzhou was dumbfounded. Li Ying had been kicked out of the Ye family, so why was Ye Jingchi still treating her so well?

After dinner, Li Ying was taken to Ye Jingchi's dormitory to rest.

"Ye Jingchi, I don't need it..."

Li Ying's words were cut off by Ye Jingchi's passionate kiss.

He wrapped Li Ying tightly in his arms, pressed her against the door, and kissed her passionately.

Li Ying's struggles were insignificant in the face of the man's overwhelming strength.

Ye Jingchi only released Li Ying when she let out a muffled groan of pain, his gaze sweeping over her glistening red lips: "Li Ying, your body is honest. You are not without feelings; you do."

"Ye Jingchi, this is a normal human reaction..."

Ye Jingchi lowered his head and kissed her again. This time the kiss was much gentler, yet more alluring. It lacked the intensity of the previous one, instead possessing a tenderness that seemed to flow like the passage of time.

Ye Jingchi gently brushed his thumb across Li Ying's red lips; this was clearly the feeling from that night.

Li Ying pulled Ye Jingchi's hand away: "I didn't expect you to be such a shameless person!"
