In the thin snowy night, the man who tried to reach out and touch Hua Mi was knocked to the ground by Hua Mi.
Not a single worker dared to utter a sound.
Now they believe it; there's no one else but Sister Hua who could be so fierce.
Hua Mi put away the steel bars, pointed at the man she had knocked to the ground, and gave instructions to the other workers.
"Find two people and throw him far away."
He then pointed to the open space where seven or eight thinly dressed women stood.
“Arrest them all, lock them up and educate them, make them memorize the Eight Honors and Eight Shames.”
A group of men rushed up again and grabbed all the women on the open ground. This time, they didn't dare to touch them indiscriminately; they just grabbed one of their arms to avoid suspicion.
All that could be heard was the group of women, shivering and writhing in the fine snow, shouting loudly.
"Let us go! We didn't do anything, what right do you have to lock us up?"
"Because you have disrupted my project's progress."
Hua Mi waved her hand, giving instructions to the workers.
"Send them to the toll station, and the rest of you can work. If work stops again, your wages and supplies will be deducted."
Gong Yi happened to find a large amount of wool, scraps of cloth, and prefabricated houses in the industrial park left behind by Chen Hu.
The contractor did a good job; although he wasn't on site, he had already sent someone to bring the supplies over.
Prefabricated houses are easy to assemble; with enough manpower, they can be set up in no time.
Look, there's a place now for imprisoning prostitutes. After they finish reciting the Eight Honors and Eight Shames, they can sew up scraps of cloth and stuff them with wool.
Wouldn't that make a thick wool coat?
If the prostitutes made a few more thick wool coats, Hua Mi wouldn't need to provide thermal underwear to the construction team.
Thinking it over, Hua Mi suddenly became very motivated and gave the workers instructions.
"My men must obey the garrison's orders in everything they do. They are strictly forbidden from having affairs. If they want women, they must have proper relationships with them. If you go to prostitutes with these women, aren't you afraid of being looked down upon by the garrison?"
There's no way around it; the moral standards of the garrison are too high. Prostitution is strictly prohibited and it's written into the garrison's rules.
If the people working for Hua Mi are morally corrupt, and the workers go to brothels as soon as they finish work, it will give the garrison a bad impression and they will be despised by the garrison.
The key issue is that it also affected the project's progress.
The workers responded obediently, and most of them were very docile. Even those who were dissatisfied dared not show it openly.
If I really go against this woman, not only will I lose my job, but I'll also get beaten up by her.
Then they heard Hua Mi say behind them:
“If you see any more women soliciting on the street, arrest them all and send them to the tollbooth. For each one you send, I’ll give you 2,000 yuan.”
Thinking about the thick coats, Hua Mi thought it would be quite good to capture a few more prostitutes to memorize the Eight Honors and Eight Shames.
After giving instructions to the workers, she turned and walked towards the tollbooth.
The supplies have already been brought over by the contractor's people, and the prefabricated houses are almost all set up on the open space where vehicles come and go.
The sound of prostitutes reciting the Eight Honors and Eight Shames could be heard coming from inside.
Yang Honglin, dressed in a police uniform, was also standing outside.
Hua Mi was utterly surprised when she saw Yang Honglin.
What are you doing here?
"Chuanzi said there were people here who needed to be taught a lesson, so he dragged me over here to take a look."
Yang Honglin was carrying an AK47 on his back. He didn't bring many police officers with him this time, but those who came were all veteran officers.
As they were talking, an older policeman came up with a stack of white paper and a pen.
"The paper and pens are ready. Once they finish writing their self-criticisms, we can assign them tasks."
Prostitution on the street is considered indecent and if you get caught, you'll have to write a self-criticism.
Hua Mi glanced out the window; the women inside were all purple with cold. She said to Yang Honglin:
"Let them sew a batch of thick wool coats for themselves first."
As they were talking, some of the workers from the dredging project brought over a few more prostitutes who were selling themselves.
The moment they saw Hua Mi, their faces lit up with flattery.
"Miss Hua, look, we've caught a few more."
"Okay, here's the money, 2000 per woman."
Hua Mi didn't hesitate either. She withdrew a stack of brand-new cash from the [Apocalypse Supermarket - Cashier System] and counted the money for the workers on the spot.
They'll give 2000 for every woman they catch, and the workers who bring the women can divide the money among themselves.
The workers were overjoyed, clutching their cash, and said...
"There seem to be more women ahead. We'll catch a few more and bring them over for you in a bit."
Hua Mi nodded, giving her some instructions.
"Just don't delay the project's progress."
After distributing the money, Hua Mi frowned slightly and said to Yang Honglin,
"Why are there so many prostitutes on this street?"
"This means there's a huge hideout here."
Yang Honglin was a veteran policeman, and he was more perceptive about these kinds of things than anyone else. He quietly instructed the policemen around him to take statements from each of them one by one.
Then, turning to look at the women inside the room who were writing self-criticisms, he said to Hua Mi,
"They are all pitiful people. If we don't lock them up, they will still go down this path after they get out."
If there's a way to survive in reality, who would want to do this?
Once they leave here, believe it or not, not only will their own hand-sewn coats be ripped off, but they will also be sent to be prostitutes.
This time, however, she will be sent to a more secluded place, a place where it will be even harder for the garrison, the police, and Hua Mi to find her, and where she will live an even more miserable life.
Hua Mi sighed and did not refute Yang Honglin's words.
Of course she understood; she'd seen it all her life, how could she not understand?
