Hua Mi glanced down at Fang Xin in surprise. She was somewhat surprised that Bai Lian had such a will.
In her previous life, Fang Xin was timid, vain, weak, and proud. She wasn't very capable, but she was quite cunning.
She cries her eyes out at the slightest difficulty, gets rewarded by Hua Mishang when fighting monsters, and lacks willpower, always getting into trouble because she thinks she's so great.
Surprisingly, even though Fang Xin was being choked to the point of foaming at the mouth, she still managed to seek help from the garrison.
Looking at the two guards, they seemed to sense something was wrong with Hua Mi, and immediately pulled out their guns and pointed them at her.
"Don't move, stand facing the wall, raise your hands, palms against the wall, don't move, hurry up!"
Hua Mi stood still, not wanting to do as the garrison had said.
Since this place is secluded and there's hardly anyone around, we might as well knock out these two garrison soldiers and kill Fang Xin directly.
Just as they were making plans, a deep male voice came from behind the two garrison soldiers.
"What happened?"
The two garrison soldiers turned around and immediately said:
"Boss?"
Gong Yi, wearing a rescue team jacket and sporting a neat buzz cut, frowned as he walked forward. His sharp eyes swept over Fang Xin, who was crawling on the ground, when she suddenly stood up and ran away.
He then looked at Hua Mi.
Should we pursue them?
Hua Mi shrugged.
"No need. Just don't chase after me next time I kill her."
Even if the garrison brings Fang Xin back, it won't make a difference. In any case, Hua Mi can't kill Fang Xin in front of the garrison anyway.
Gong Yi nodded, then turned to the two guards still holding their guns. He reached out and gently lowered their weapons, giving them instructions in a low voice.
"I know her, she's my... friend."
"Oh~"
The two garrison soldiers were clearly quite familiar with Gong Yi. Upon hearing that Hua Mi was Gong Yi's friend, they immediately put on warm smiles and looked at Hua Mi with a bit of embarrassment.
"We're sorry, but it's just our duty."
Hua Mi shook her head. She understood. If she didn't understand, she would have already started fighting with these garrison troops.
One of the slightly more astute individuals glanced at Hua Mi, then at Gong Yi, and smiled meaningfully.
"Boss, when did you get such a beautiful... friend?"
Don't blame them for gossiping; Gong Yi spends all his time in the garrison camp and has never been known to have any female friends.
The flies swarming around him were all male.
So when such a beautiful girl suddenly appeared, well, my friend, it inevitably gave people hope that the eldest brother would find a partner.
Gong Yi raised his foot to kick the two of them.
"Why ask so many questions? Aren't you on patrol anymore? Get lost."
After he kicked the two garrison guards away, he looked at Hua Mi with bright, sparkling eyes.
"These are two lads from my old garrison unit. They're pretty good guys."
Hua Mi hummed in agreement, then lowered her head and remained silent, thinking about going to see her stall.
Gong Yi walked up to her, his hands in his pockets, a hint of fatigue in his eyes. There was nothing he could do; even someone as tough as iron would tire himself out from flipping rocks and rescuing people day and night.
But he didn't show any impatience. He just looked down at Hua Mi with deep eyes, and it was unclear what he was thinking.
Suddenly, Gong Yi spoke.
"The woman who ran away, was she the vixen who seduced your boyfriend?"
"Ex-boyfriend!"
Hua Mi corrected Gong Yi, who was momentarily stunned, then looked up at him in surprise.
How did you know I was cheated on?
This memory is already quite distant for Hua Mi, after all, there is a lifetime between her and this heartbreak.
So Hua Mi doesn't remember many things.
It's likely that she met Gong Yi sometime ago and confided in him.
Gong Yi didn't answer her, but his expression turned sour again. He looked at Hua Mi as if she were a sea woman who had toyed with him, his tone harsh.
"You're currently staying in an ambulance center?"
I think so, after all, Hua Mi's neighborhood has collapsed like that.
Although Hua Mi's small supermarket was still intact, she was considered one of the survivors. As long as she gave her ID number, someone would arrange for her to settle down in the rescue center.
Hua Mi responded verbally, without telling Gong Yi that she was still living in the ruins, but simply pointed in the direction behind Gong Yi.
"I set up a stall there today."
"Then I'll take you back."
Gong Yi turned and strode forward. After taking a couple of steps, he noticed that Hua Mi was walking slowly, so he slowed down to match her pace and whispered instructions.
"If you see that vixen again, don't lay a hand on her. Fighting is not allowed at the rescue center. If you need anything, go to the garrison; they'll help you."
"It's just hitting a mistress, not worth getting your hands dirty."
He spoke softly, as if a husband about to embark on a long journey were instructing his wife, his words carrying an eerie familiarity.
Hua Mi savored it carefully, racking her brains but unable to recall when she had ever interacted with Gong Yi in her past life.
So, is Gong Yi a naturally outgoing person?
Really? Is that so...?
Gong Yi escorted her back to her stall. He glanced at Chi Chuan, who happily greeted Hua Mi.
"Hey, I just helped you sell a lot of sanitary napkins and batteries. Here, I paid by scanning your QR code. Did you receive it?"
"Also, all the self-inhaling respirators and ethanol on your stall are sold out, rich lady, do you want to thank me?"
Hua Mi then took out her phone, opened her wallet, and saw a long list of incoming transaction information.
She smiled at Chi Chuan.
"Thank you so much."
The only transactions recorded in W-wallet were for sanitary napkins and batteries; the transactions for respirators and ethanol went to the [Apocalypse Supermarket - Cashier System]. This is because of the few items she had on her stall, only the respirators and ethanol were recorded in her Level 4 warehouse.
So even though Ikegawa helped her sell a lot of sanitary napkins and batteries, that money wasn't counted in her "POS system".
But since the other party meant well, Hua Mi could only express her gratitude.
Chi Chuan waved his hand, indicating it was no big deal, then looked at Gong Yi beside Hua Mi and asked with a wink:
"Hey rich girl, is this your boyfriend?"
"Hmm? No..."
Just as Hua Mi was about to say no, a guard from the garrison walked over and called out to Gong Yi.
"Boss."
Then he looked at Hua Mi, with the same smile on his face as Chi Chuan.
That smile was a bit hard to describe; it was like you were guessing something, but you couldn't be sure, and you didn't want to ask directly.
Gong Yi nodded to Chi Chuan, then looked down at Hua Mi.
"I'm leaving now. Contact me if you need anything."
Then they turned to talk to the garrison commander, and as they spoke, the two of them left.
Hua Mi glanced at Gong Yi's retreating figure, pursed her lips, and sat down behind her stall.
She left in such a hurry; there were still so many things she hadn't asked clearly.
