Chapter 335 is simply a huge tragedy.

The first group of survivors who were rescued had been there for 48 hours.

Many people were given the opportunity to enter the safe zone, retrieve their luggage, and fly away.

However, most people did not choose to leave.

Not long after, Chi Chuan arrived with a supplies transport team. Following Hua Mi's instructions, they moved all the unmanned vending machines in D City into the D City safe zone.

Hua Mi felt a pang of heartache as she looked at the recovered vending machine.

Because the survivors were surrounded by zombies, lacked supplies, and had no money to scan codes to buy supplies.

Or perhaps they felt that since D City was already in such a state, what rules and order were left? Even if they had money, they didn't want to spend it on supplies.

They then resorted to violence and vandalized the vending machines.

In City D, a "zero-yuan purchase" policy was implemented.

After the zombie crisis was resolved, all ten vending machines that were recovered were destroyed.

The supplies inside had long since vanished without a trace.

Nobody knows who did it.

"From now on, put the vending machines in safe areas, not outside."

Hua Mi, supporting her waist, gave instructions to Chi Chuan.

She pointed to an open space.

"A teleportation point has just appeared there. From now on, your people will fly over with supplies to deliver them."

After giving instructions to Chi Chuan, Hua Mi looked at the sky. It was already dark, and the bright stars twinkled against the black sky.

She turned and walked towards her RV.

I happened to be passing by a truck when I heard someone kicking the door from inside.

Hua Mi walked over, about to see what was going on, when she was stopped by the nervous Da Fu.

"Sister Ami, Wu Guilong is tied up inside."

Wu Guilong had just been bitten and needed to be observed, so the garrison put him in a truck.

There is no designated quarantine area here, so a truck will be used as a temporary quarantine observation area.

Due to limited resources, Dafu was responsible for observing Wu Guilong.

Hua Mi raised her hand, patted Da Fu's shoulder, and gave the child a reassuring look.

She took two steps forward and, with a "whoosh," pulled open the truck door.

Wu Guilong, who was inside and chained up, was kicking the door when he suddenly pulled his foot back.

He looked at Hua Mi awkwardly.

"Sister Hua? What brings you here?"

He heard the garrison call this pregnant woman that.

Before Hua Mi could answer, Wu Guilong, fearing she might misunderstand and think he had turned into a zombie, hurriedly explained:

"I just wanted to kick the door open and look at the stars."

As if remembering something, Wu Guilong's eyes reddened.

There are stars tonight.

Hua Mi stepped aside, giving up a large section of the view by the door.

She looked up at the sky expressionlessly. Yes, a vast expanse of stars—she hadn't seen them in a very, very long time.

Dafu also involuntarily looked up at the sky; he had been so focused on whether Wu Guilong had turned into a zombie.

They never even considered that the person just wanted to kick open the door and look at the stars.

Then, for some unknown reason, Wu Guilong lay in the truck and couldn't help but sob.

Hua Mi looked down, frowned, and asked,

Why are you crying?

Wu Guilong tilted his head to avoid Hua Mi's gaze, feeling a little embarrassed.

A boxing champion, in a moment of glory, was crying in front of a woman and a child.

"I just thought that if I become a zombie in the future, I don't know if I'll still be able to see the stars."

Wu Guilong is rarely sentimental. In those short 20-odd hours, he experienced the darkest moment of his life, the one filled with the most fear, anxiety, and heartbreak.

At this point, he didn't know who to talk to about his depression and negative emotions.

Just then, Hua Mi and Da Fu were there. Wu Guilong, knowing he was going to become a zombie anyway, overcame his embarrassment and asked:

Do you think I'll still be able to see stars in the future?

"No," Hua Mi replied rationally.

"Once you show signs of zombification, you will be killed. You don't need to worry about that."

Even if you manage to escape being beheaded, as a zombie, you won't appreciate the stars because zombies don't have that kind of intelligence.

These words were like a critical hit of ten thousand points, leaving Wu Guilong completely stunned.

His face was pale, and he forced a look at Hua Mi that was worse than crying.

"Well, there's no need to be so blunt."

Hua Mi shrugged, played with the remote control for the safe zone's power grid, and turned to go back to the RV.

Behind him, Wu Guilong's hesitant voice rang out again.

"Um, Sister Hua, could you lend me some?"

He asked Hua Mi to lend him money.

Hua Mi turned around with a fresh look, raising an eyebrow at Wu Guilong.

This was the first time she had encountered someone asking her for money.

In the apocalypse, people generally fall into two categories when it comes to her: those who depend on her for a living and those who look down on her.

Despite feeling that the post-apocalyptic environment is harsh, she still insists on getting pregnant and giving birth.

The former knew she had money and resources, and they relied on her for food. They were also financially well-off and didn't need to borrow money from her.

The latter thought she was probably poorer than them, and they were all afraid of being taken advantage of by her, so they didn't think she was rich.

He would never ask her for money.

There was only Wu Guilong, looking pitiful, tears streaming down his face.

"I'm so hungry, could you lend me some money? Just 1,000 yuan, I need to buy some bread."

Although the prices of goods sold by street vendors change every day, the prices have risen outrageously.
