At the Xiangcheng base, whenever the workers were sick or had any ailments, the foreman and Huo Jing would offer them words of comfort and concern.
If someone misses a few days of work, the foreman will come to their home with gifts to ask how they are doing and if they are having any difficulties. He will tell them to let him know if they are having any problems and that he will do his best to help.
Although everyone understands that this is a form of corporate culture care, people used to think that it was fake for contractors to do this.
His solicitous and caring attitude towards the workers was clearly a way of wanting them to contribute their utmost and finish repairing the city wall as quickly as possible.
Not many people used to like contractors, but looking back now, a contractor's feigned concern is much better than someone like Hu Yanxiang, who just washes his hands of the business.
At least if they have any difficulties, they can talk to the contractor, and the contractor will genuinely do things for them.
In City E, filled with excrement and garbage, a worker reached out and stopped Hu Yanxiang from leaving.

After saying this, Hu Yanxiang turned around, walked past the man in front of him, and scurried towards Qu Shiheng's tent.
He believed that in order to live a good life in Xiangcheng, it was essential to curry favor with leaders and superiors.
Therefore, the task of building the city walls and carrying out infrastructure construction was left to the survivors from Xiangcheng.
All he needed to do was curry favor with Qu Shiheng.
Hu Yanxiang is now clearly ignoring everything. The survivors on the open ground, no matter how angry or resentful they are, can only stare at that pitiful basket of instant noodles.

In Xiangcheng, contractors always provide them with protective gloves.
Without protective gloves, they would quickly wear their hands raw from swinging those metal rings.
Getting my hands blistered is secondary; the real problem is whether I'll be able to work for the next few days.
The foreman of the Qu family rolled his eyes at the workers.
"Why are you all being so fussy? What time is it? Why do you need to wear protective gloves? If you don't have these, you can do the job if you want, or don't if you don't."
The people of E City are now quite high-spirited, after all, many survivors from Xiang City are heading to E City after Xiang City was besieged by zombies.
They weren't going to tolerate the survivors' bad habits; after all, City E wasn't short of survivors.
Those workers who were hungry and hadn't managed to get any instant noodles, and who didn't have any protective gloves, were seething with anger and started doing manual labor with their tools.
After working hard for several hours, they discovered that the construction site in City E not only lacked drinks, but even a bottle of basic mineral water couldn't be provided to them.
At the Xiangcheng base, these are the most basic configurations.
It wasn't included in the salary at all; as long as you worked on the construction site, you could drink as many beverages and water as you wanted.
Soon, they discovered something even more terrifying.
That was in City E, where not only were there no water or drinks provided, but there was also no electricity on the construction site.
Without electricity, they have no way to charge their phones.
