Chapter 59 Don't Worry Me

On the ruins, a lifeguard hurriedly stepped over the rubble and rushed over.

He stood at a distance and looked around, then immediately looked down and pressed the pager on his shoulder.

"Boss, boss, I saw Sister Hua. She seems to be feeling unwell. Her coordinates are XXX, XXX."

What a coincidence! There was only one smooth road leading out of the city, and Gong Yi happened to be searching for survivors on this road.

Soon, a tall and imposing figure emerged from the ruins, swiftly and nimbly reaching Hua Mi's back through the continuous rain.

Hua Mi was still vomiting. She was wearing a waterproof tarpaulin raincoat, and her back looked as frail as a wisp of duckweed in the raging wind.

Gong Yi frowned, reached out and pressed his hand on Hua Mi's shoulder, about to speak.

Hua Mi, who was hunched over, turned around. Her face was pale and bloodless, and her fox-like eyes had lost their usual lively sparkle.

She vomited so badly that she even cried out in tears.

A layer of moisture shimmered in her slightly upturned eyes, making them seem so fragile that they would collapse at the slightest breeze.

The key point is that even after vomiting like this, there's still nothing left to vomit; it's all dry heaving.

What happened?

Gong Yi's brows were furrowed, and his long, blood-stained fingers were about to touch Hua Mi's face, but he was afraid of soiling her.

In a moment of hesitation, Afu, who only half understood, said:

"Miss Hua has an upset stomach. Food is most prone to mold and bacteria in this rainy weather."

That sounds like it makes some sense.

Gong Yi's brows remained furrowed as he looked at Hua Mi in the rain, and said with concern:

"You should see a doctor. Your health is too weak. Why are you running around at a time like this?"

An upset stomach can be a minor or major problem. In the past, at most, one would vomit and have diarrhea for a few days. But in today's environment and world, one is afraid that something serious might happen.

Large-scale cholera outbreaks often follow major natural disasters, a pattern that has been observed since ancient times.

Hua Mi waved her hand.

"I still have things to do. I just finished a deal with Old Man Ke, and I need to go pick up the goods."

He was about to get on the bus, not wanting to waste any time.

Seeing this, Afu looked at Gong Yi with some confusion.

At times like these, making money is secondary; health is the most important thing.

However, while Hua Mi may seem easy to talk to on the surface, deep down she has a sense of "those who obey me prosper, those who defy me perish."

Once she decides what to do, no one can stop her, including herself.

So Afu didn't dare to stop her.

She walked forward, and just as she reached for the handlebars, Gong Yi swept her up from behind and carried her quickly toward the temporary tent.

"Gong Yi, put me down!"

Hua Mi was furious. This was the first time in her life that a man had ever carried her like a princess. She was so embarrassed.

Gong Yi, who was running forward quickly, ignored her and went straight into the tent, where he placed her on a small stool.

Seeing that she was about to stand up, Gong Yi pressed his hands on her slender shoulders to prevent her from getting up.

He was very strong. Hua Mi tried to move, but couldn't budge an inch. She looked up in surprise at Gong Yi's handsome face, which was covered in mud.

"you!"

He's incredibly strong; his strength definitely surpasses that of an average man.

Gong Yi's resolute face was filled with unwavering determination in his eyes.

"No matter what, find someone to take a look first. I still have a lot of stones to turn over, so don't make me worry."

"May I?"

The question was phrased as an inquiry, but the tone was very forceful.

The forcefulness was so overwhelming that Hua Mi felt a strong sense of unease wash over her.

He cares about her a lot.

Hua Mi raised an eyebrow slightly and looked carefully into Gong Yi's eyes. The pager on his shoulder rang, and the life detector had found a living person nearby.

Gong Yi turned and walked away, his entire body disappearing into the drizzle. Then he paused, turned back, and raindrops lashed his resolute face. He looked at Hua Mi and gave her instructions.

"The lifeguard will be here in a bit. Tell me what he said in a message."

As he spoke, he clenched his fist and pounded it against his chest.

He looked as if he wanted to pound his heart out and show it to Hua Mi.

Sitting on a small stool, Hua Mi nodded and watched Gong Yi disappear into the drizzle, heading towards a certain point with the scattered lifeguards nearby.

"Miss Hua."

Afu hurriedly ran into the tent. He looked around and realized that it was a temporary tent, as temporary as it could possibly be. Inside, there was some bottled water, ethanol, breathing apparatus, and a lot of lifeguard clothing, etc.

Because of the rain, the ground was all muddy, and those boxes of mineral water were just sitting there in the mud, looking much worse than the emergency center in the city.

Afu sighed and asked:

"Why don't we go back and have Mr. Ke arrange for a proper doctor to take a look?"

Hua Mi turned her gaze away from the direction where Gong Yi had disappeared, and shook her head.

"There's no time to go back and forth. Just let the lifeguard take a look. Don't I know my own body? It's okay. Go ahead and check what's going on, then send me a message."

She had surveyed the surroundings. This place was actually quite far from Xiangcheng, very close to the medical supplies stockpile. Further ahead lay ruins, impassable even by off-road vehicles; one had to walk.

Afu responded. Although he was worried about Hua Mi, there were already not enough people at the moment, and if he didn't go, no one else would.

Just as Afu left, a lifeguard rushed into the tent. He had a white armband with a red cross on it and carried a simple first-aid kit. He asked:

"Sister Hua, where do you feel unwell?"

"I don't feel unwell anywhere, it's just that I've been vomiting a lot lately."

Hua Mi spoke the truth as she watched the young lifeguard open the first-aid kit, take out a bottle of scopolamine, and give her one pill.

"This is medication to stop stomach cramps and temporarily suppress vomiting. If possible, you should still see a professional doctor."

The young man spoke sincerely; he was actually just a temporary addition to the team. He had read a few medical books and was then pulled into the rescue team by Gong Yi to serve as a medical worker.

Hua Mi looked down at the small pill in her fair palm, then took out scopolamine from the young man's medicine box and looked at it, and inexplicably saw the words "Contraindicated for pregnant women and children".

"I suddenly stopped vomiting. You see, you don't have much medicine to begin with, so you should save it for those who need it more."

As she spoke, Hua Mi poured the pill from her palm back into the scopolamine bottle, got up, and ran out of the tent.

After running away for a while, and not long after wandering through the ruins, Hua Mi received a photo of A Fu.

[Afu: Image.jpg]

[A-Fu: Miss Hua, look, no wonder these medical supplies are piling up and can't be moved. Vehicles simply can't get out of this terrain.]

[Afu: Even if we get out, there's nowhere left to go.]

My fingers always crack in winter. Do you experience the same thing? It's so strange, only my fingers crack, not the rest of my body.
