Chapter 400 The Red Line of the City Wall

The survivors, who had been fighting amongst themselves, were suddenly killed or wounded by Chen Xiumin's bomb with a "bang."

Some were even blown away and landed in the zombie horde.

The scene was in complete chaos.

Life became difficult in the northern part of Xiangcheng.

Besides the survivors who were expelled from the Xiangcheng base, a large number of survivors remained inside the cloud-shrouded city wall of the Xiangcheng base.

Because of Hua Mi's outburst, the atmosphere in the northern part of the Xiangcheng base suddenly became much more tense than before.

Originally, everyone was free and easy, staying in their own tents, just waiting for the small amount of humanitarian aid supplies sent from the Xiangcheng base every day.

Those people, including Yang Honglin and others who were brought in by Hua Mi, are now trapped in their own tent area.

They are no longer allowed to move around freely at the Xiangcheng base.

Those who can be identified are all under investigation.

Relief supplies have not been delivered.

The atmosphere in the northern part of the Xiangcheng base suddenly became exceptionally solemn.

However, they were unable to enter the Xiangcheng base on their own.

Some people were dissatisfied and pointed at Yang Honglin, who had come to issue the order, saying...

"Chen Xiumin's fault, it's all Chen Xiumin's fault. You've investigated for so long, taken away so many people, but have you found out what we did?"

Although they occasionally complained about Hua Mi.

However, most people are not as radical as Chen Xiumin and her group.

Some people have never even met Chen Xiumin.

So, it's all because of Chen Xiumin that the atmosphere in the north of Xiangcheng Base is so tense.

It's understandable that people have some dissatisfaction.

A large group of people gathered in front of Yang Honglin's car, chattering away and expressing their opinions, buzzing like a swarm of flies.

Yang Honglin stood on top of the car, coldly watching the survivors who had surrounded his vehicle.

Yang Honglin said,

"The Xiangcheng base is now making it very clear to you that if you do not leave Xiangcheng, the Xiangcheng base will cease providing all humanitarian assistance."

These words caused an uproar, with some survivors glaring angrily at Yang Honglin.

"Is this something a human being should do? What did we do wrong?"

"If you treat us like this, aren't you worried about the consequences?"

Yang Honglin sneered, took out several large bags of seeds from the snakeskin bag in his hand, and said to the survivors,

"So, does our Xiangcheng base owe you something?"

"We've been giving you humanitarian aid for so long, and you're still complaining and having so many grievances against us. Are we just supposed to be the ones to take advantage of you?"

"Here are the seeds. If you want to eat them, you can grow them yourselves."

"No one has an obligation to tolerate you."

In fact, a long, long time ago, Yang Honglin was also a person full of justice and love.

But after the apocalypse, the ugliness of human nature chilled him to the bone.

Even now, several seriously injured police academy students are still inside the ambulance center.

Their injuries were far too severe. Even though they received daily medical treatment from Hua Mi, their psychological trauma would take many, many years to heal.

Since the attack on the Xiangcheng base, Yang Honglin's thinking has changed. He has begun to realize how terrible ungrateful people can be.

Even if these survivors stranded in the north of the Xiangcheng base are not Chen Xiumin's group.

However, criticizing Hua Mi and expressing dissatisfaction with the management of the Xiangcheng base is the mainstream sentiment among this group.

This is terrifying.

Once they have this mindset, no matter what the Xiangcheng base does, these people will not be grateful.

They all felt that no matter how much the Xiangcheng base did for them, it was all their duty.

Once their emotions accumulate to a certain level, they can become quite radical if provoked by the outside world.

They will do terrible, very terrible things.

This is a terrifying force, so why should the Xiangcheng base tolerate these people?

Nothing is obligatory.

Yang Honglin scattered the seeds and gave them to the survivors.

But not a single survivor was willing to take those seeds.

They were filled with deep fear, and their dissatisfaction with the Xiangcheng base was growing stronger.

However, faced with Yang Honglin's tough stance, none of the survivors dared to voice their protest.

It's clear that the Xiangcheng base is trying to put them in a bad light.

If they were to actually resist at this point, they would not be able to defeat the people from the Xiangcheng base.

However, if they accept these seeds, the Xiangcheng base will require them to farm the land in the future and will not provide them with any further humanitarian aid.

The survivors fell silent one by one.

A deathly silence.

They all lowered their heads, their eyes downcast, concealing the hatred in their gazes.

It seems that this matter is now unsolvable.

Yang Honglin was unwilling to patiently persuade them any further.

He jumped off the roof of his car, climbed inside, and drove off from the Xiangcheng base north with a cold expression on his face.

He still has a lot to do.

Once Yang Honglin left, the remaining survivors began to whisper among themselves.

Some people looked terrified.

"What should we do now? It seems like the Xiangcheng base really isn't going to help us anymore."
