Chapter 102 The Four Seasons in a Painting

Chapter 102 The Four Seasons in a Painting

Before even tasting the tea, Xi'er was already enjoying the picturesque scenery, which made her very happy.

Ye Tanji was also very happy. He felt that bringing Xi'er to the City Lord's Mansion for tea today was the right choice.

The only regret is that there's this eyesore, Sang Yuebai. I wonder if it's too late for him to get rid of him now?

Sang Yuebai was familiar with Ye Tanji and immediately saw the disdain in his eyes.

Hmph! When he came to his residence, he had prepared the most precious Misty Hidden Tea in advance, but the tea was actually rejected by him?

In that case, he's definitely going to be the bright third wheel today!

"Xi'er, you've come at the perfect time. I just happened to acquire a new palace fan, which is perfect for a girl."

I was wondering who to give it to, but now it's perfect for you.

Sang Yuebai took out a round fan with an ivory handle and a light gauze fan surface from his storage ring and handed it to her.

At first glance, this fan seems quite ordinary. It has a picture on its surface, depicting lush green grass, a river, and several weeping willows growing along its banks.

Xi'er knew, of course, that a big shot like Sang Yuebai would never give her an ordinary fan.

Sure enough, he raised his hand and unleashed a beam of spiritual light.

The next second, the scenery changed. The three of them were now on the green lawn in the painting. The surrounding scenery was exactly the same as in the painting, but it was more vivid.

You can smell the fragrance of green grass, see the willow branches swaying in the warm breeze, and watch the river flow gurglingly.

"Wow! That's amazing!" Xi'er exclaimed.

"The most interesting part is yet to come!" Sang Yuebai said, raising her hand to brush aside the weeping willow branches in front of her, and the scenery changed again.

If the scenery before was like springtime, then it has now turned into the height of summer.

Flowers of all colors are in full bloom in the garden, bees fly to and fro among the blossoms, cicadas chirp in the distance, and koi carp leap in the lake…

Sang Yuebai casually picked a red pomegranate flower, and the scene before her eyes changed again.

In the autumn mountains and forests, the maple leaves are as red as fire, a breathtaking sight. Various fruit trees are laden with heavy fruit. Picking a fruit at random, you'll find it sweet, crisp, and refreshing, with a taste just like real fruit.

After eating the fruit, the scene changed again.

In the boundless plum grove, covered in white snow, plum blossoms bloom on the branches, their bright red petals adorned with glistening snowflakes.

Under the tree, on a small red clay stove, a pot of water was bubbling and steaming.

A tray appeared in Sang Yuebai's hand. He picked up the teapot, poured boiling water into three teacups, and brewed three cups of hot tea.

"Come, come, this is plum blossom tea made from plum blossoms that have been brewed over a thousand years of snowmelt. The tea is made from plum blossoms that were collected with great difficulty."

The plum blossom stamens must be from plum blossoms that have just bloomed and have been in full bloom for no more than fifteen minutes. If you miss the best time to pick them, the taste will be much worse.

Sang Yuebai warmly greeted the two of them. Xi'er was stunned by the wondrous scenes of the four seasons in the painting and couldn't tell whether it was a dream or reality.

"Hmph! If you're going to enjoy tea, just enjoy tea. Why make such a fuss and try to attract attention?" Ye Tanji took the top-grade spirit jade teacup and rolled his eyes.

Sang Yuebai wasn't angry at all, and said with a smile, "Isn't Xi'er here?"

The little girl probably wouldn't like sitting obediently in the pavilion drinking tea; she'd find it more interesting to enjoy the scenery along the way.

Xi'er, am I right?

"Yes, Old Sang is right!" Xi'er nodded with a smile, which made Ye Tanji's hands itch again, wishing he could just throw this eyesore out.

After drinking a cup of Plum Blossom Spirit Tea, Xi'er immediately felt warm all over her body, as the rich spiritual energy vaporized within her and enveloped her entire body.

As Xi'er savored the changing seasons depicted in the painting, she couldn't help but feel a sense of感慨 (gǎnkǎi, a complex emotion encompassing feelings, thoughts, and reflections).

It turns out that time is not a constant flow; the changing of the seasons can be a long process or it can be completed in an instant.

When one is outside the painting, the scenery appears as a static picture. But when one enters the painting, one sees a dynamic scene.

I wonder if people outside the painting at this moment, watching these three people enjoying tea under the plum blossom tree, would think they are people in the painting.

So, what is real, and what is a dream?

With her thoughts wandering, Xi'er pondered carefully and finally came to a conclusion—the most important thing for a person is the present moment.

What you see and feel is the truth.

Even in a dream, as long as it feels real, it can be taken as real.

Although it may seem like self-deception, life is all about the process, and having experienced it is what truly matters.

What difference is there between the beautiful things in a dream and the scenery in this painting before my eyes?

However, these were all just my observations and feelings at the time.

Having figured this out, Xi'er instantly felt her mind clear, and the scenery before her eyes changed again.

This time, it's not the changing seasons, but rather wisps of shimmering light drifting before my eyes.

She reached out and grabbed a thread, slowly untangling it from the many intertwined strands.

At the same time, Sang Yuebai and Ye Tanji, who were standing around him, were both shocked.

"Brother Ye Tan, what's going on? She actually had an epiphany in the painting? And she even comprehended the power of the time law?" Sang Yuebai secretly transmitted his voice to Ye Tanji, afraid of disturbing Xi'er's epiphany.

“What’s so strange about that? Xi’er is born with magical power and can communicate with heaven and earth.”

What difficulty could she possibly have in comprehending the power of the laws of heaven and earth? Ye Tanji looked proud.

Sang Yuebai felt that his old friend's stupid appearance was simply unbearable to watch. Anyone who didn't know better would think that Xi'er was his own daughter.

However, judging from their way of getting along, they clearly haven't even reached the point of holding hands.

It's just a tiny bit closer than a relationship between strangers.

The two powerful figures spontaneously and consciously protected Xi'er. After two hours, Xi'er finally woke up from her enlightenment.

After assessing her own condition, she realized that she had actually broken through the Great Perfection of the Heavenly Realm and reached a new realm.

Is this the legendary Breaking Heaven Realm? And it's quite obvious that she broke through to the second level of the Breaking Heaven Realm in one go.

Logically speaking, breaking through a major realm should attract heavenly tribulation, but why is the surrounding area so quiet?

Ye Tanji and Sang Yuebai naturally understood the confusion on Xi'er's face.

This time, before Sang Yuebai, the chatterbox, could speak, Ye Tanji explained:

"Xi'er, you broke through in the world of the painting. This place is isolated from the perception of the Heavenly Dao. Only when you leave here and return to the real world will you attract the Heavenly Tribulation."

Before you leave, you must prepare to withstand the heavenly tribulation, for no one can bear it for you.

As Ye Tanji said these words, a dull ache appeared in his heart.

He had finally found Xi'er, and he wished he could give her the best of everything in the world and bear all the hardships in the world for her.

In reality, however, he could only watch helplessly as she went through her ordeal alone.
