Chapter 28 Waiting for Someone
"Xingyao, would you like to come back to our clan's territory with me?" Lingxiao asked.
"Chirp chirp, I want to, I really want to!" Xingyao said excitedly. It was the first time he had ever seen his own kind, and of course he wanted to see where his relatives lived.
“But if you have made a contract with a human, you are not qualified to enter the clan’s territory unless you are willing to break the contract with that human.”
"Huh? Is there really no other choice? But I really don't want to break the contract with Achen," Xingyao said, hanging his head.
"For him, are you willing to never set foot on your clan's territory again for the rest of your life?" Ling Xiao was a little angry.
"Fine, I won't go then. At worst, when I grow up, I'll travel to other places and then I won't think about that place I can never go to in my life anymore," Xingyao said stubbornly.
"Do you know that once you break through to the sixth rank, if you don't return to your clan's territory, you'll never be able to reach a new level?" Ling Xiao said.
"I remember the inherited memories saying that after our Kunpeng clan breaks through to the sixth level, our lifespan can reach a thousand years."
Ah Chen definitely won't live that long, so I've decided to stay with him until I'm a thousand years old." Xingyao's attitude became even more resolute as he thought of this.
“Since you have made your decision, I will not try to persuade you any further,” Ling Xiao sighed.
"Human cub, do you know that by bringing Xingyao here rashly this time, you have been seriously irresponsible towards his safety?"
"If it weren't for me, one of your kind, at the bottom of this cliff, you two would both be nourishment for powerful alien beasts today, dying without a burial place!" Ling Xiao turned to look at A Chen, unable to resist taking his anger out on him again.
"Senior, I actually made thorough preparations before coming here. Look at this, it can conceal our presence."
"If Xingyao hadn't suddenly sensed the aura of its own kind, it would never have shown itself to summon you and attract your attention," Achen explained, taking the Floating Cloud Pearl off his neck.
Ling Xiao could no longer find a reason to get angry. The next second, he suddenly spread his wings, and in an instant, the entire lake was covered by his transparent light blue wings.
Such a wondrous sight filled Ah Chen with awe. So this was the true form of the divine beast. Its mere physical form was enough to shake the entire world.
"Hehe, little guy, do you think this is the true form of our Kunpeng clan? In fact, what you see is just the tip of the iceberg."
When we soar through the starry sky, we usually don't reveal our true form in order not to affect the trajectory of the stars, let alone on this tiny planet!
I just wanted to tell the cub of my kind that it has no idea how much potential it has.
"Following a human, it will never be able to realize even one percent of its potential!" Ling Xiao said with a disdainful expression.
"If that's the case, why did you stay in such a small space as Silverwing Star, senior?" Achen asked incisively.
"I promised someone that I would wait for her here until she regains her senses and comes back to me, and then I will take her to travel among the stars." There was a hint of longing and sadness in Ling Xiao's eyes.
"The person you're waiting for, senior, could it be a walking corpse?" Ah Chen blurted out, which was the most reasonable explanation he could think of.
"You little rascal are quite clever, you guessed it right away. Since you're on our side, I won't hide it from you anymore."
More than two hundred years ago, I traveled far and wide, passing through this galaxy, and met a human girl.
She was a genius born with S-level mental strength. When I met her, she was only 15 years old and had already broken through to SS-level.
It's important to understand that many people who reach S-rank never manage to break through to SS-rank in their entire lives; there's an insurmountable gap between these two ranks.
We hit it off immediately. I had heard that Silverwing Star was a beautiful place, so I invited her to come and visit with me.
Unexpectedly, she happened to be infected by the Wither Virus.
Before she lost her mind and turned into a bloodthirsty monster, I fed her the blood of a divine beast, but unfortunately, it still couldn't stop her from turning into a zombie.
However, she managed to retain a sliver of her sanity and prevent her condition from worsening. But from then on, she could only eat raw flesh and blood, otherwise she would be driven mad by hunger.
Later, I heard that all the zombies were driven to the eastern sea area, and then I heard that the zombies there devoured each other, giving birth to higher-level zombies.
Later, it was said that the high-level zombies had developed intelligence and seemed to have become a new species.
There are rumors that zombies, after evolving to a certain point, will revert to human bodies.
She then made a promise with me that once she evolved from that zombie hunting ground into a zombie king and her body returned to human form, she would return to the bottom of the lake below this cliff to find me.
Then I will also take human form, and we will travel through the stars together, no longer having to endure racial segregation, and we can hold hands and accompany each other in human form.
I didn't stop her because I knew that since she turned into a zombie, although she still retained a sliver of consciousness, she loathed her body.
She didn't want to be by my side in such an ugly form, and she didn't want me to watch her slaughter her own kind in that zombie hunting ground.
So I promised to wait for her to return here.
If you ever go to the zombie hunting grounds, remember not to make things difficult for her.
Her name is Xin Huo.
