Chapter 325: Only Shock, No Joy
Every day, some people go in and out of the city gate to do missions, and a very few people who have obtained immigration qualifications enter the city accompanied by official investigators.
Zuo Shan and A Chen craned their necks at the entrance for a while before they saw the familiar high-speed fighter jet landing.
"Dad! We're here!" As soon as Achen saw the silver-haired man walking out of the cabin, he jumped up and waved to him.
When Morti Lanton heard his son's voice, he had a moment of doubt. Could it be that he was hallucinating because he missed his baby so much?
He looked in the direction of the sound and then saw the woman he had been thinking about day and night, the woman who haunted his dreams.
Why would they come to the city gate to meet him? Foolish women, they don't even know when he'll appear, yet they wait like this, aren't they tired?
While he was complaining inwardly, the corners of his lips unconsciously turned up.
Unbeknownst to the man, his unconscious smile seemed to sweep away the gloom deep within his heart, giving him a unique charm.
His eyes brightened, and all the weariness on his face vanished in an instant. Even his slightly disheveled silver hair seemed to be illuminated by his smile.
The city gate guards, already familiar with him, were all stunned by his captivating smile. In their previous understanding, this silver-haired man had always been as cold and aloof as an iceberg, and even in the sweltering heat, they could feel the chill he unconsciously exuded.
But at this moment, the coldness on his body was completely replaced by warmth and gentleness. He was not the ninth-tier ice-type war god they knew, but an ordinary man who had suddenly seen his wife and children with tender affection.
Mortilan often entered and exited the city gates, so the guard merely glanced at his wristwatch and bowed in a gesture of invitation.
He maintained his smile, oblivious to his own embarrassment, and strode towards Zuo Shan and her son. A-Chen muttered to Zuo Shan with a look of disgust, "Mom, why does he smile like an idiot?"
"You can't say that about your dad. His smile is absolutely stunning, okay? I think you're just jealous that he's more handsome than you!" Zuo Shan gave his son a piece of her mind.
“He’s nowhere near as handsome as me! My great-grandfather said I was much prettier than he was when he was a child!” Achen retorted, unconvinced.
As they were talking, Modi had already walked up to them. He bent down, picked up his son, tossed him high in the air as usual, and then caught him steadily.
"Son, you've grown taller, and it seems like you've gained weight too!" Modi said with a smile.
"Please! I'm almost seven years old. Can you please stop playing these kinds of interactive games with a three-year-old every time we meet?" Achen said, embarrassed and annoyed.
"Haha! Shy? Okay, okay, Dad will definitely pay attention next time." Modi laughed, then turned his gaze to Zuo Shan, his eyes sticky like candy.
"Waiting is tiring, don't come here to pick me up next time." His voice changed from cheerful to breathy, full of magnetism. Zuo Shan felt that even if she closed her eyes, she would be intoxicated by his voice.
"Isn't today your birthday? Consider this my first birthday present to you!" Zuo Shan said, her face slightly flushed.
This man actually started flirting in broad daylight, it's really hard to resist!
"So, there are other birthday presents?" Morty's eyes darted around like little hooks, as if they could steal her soul at any moment.
Zuo Shan averted her gaze and looked at Mina and Matt who were walking behind her. The two of them wisely did not come closer, but simply bowed and nodded to her as a greeting.
Modi completely ignored his two subordinates at this moment, holding his son with one hand and putting his arm around Zuo Shan's waist with the other, and walked home.
Mina and Matt trailed far behind, making it feel like the air was filled with pink bubbles.
I just returned from a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood, and now I'm being bombarded with dog food (a Chinese slang term for public displays of affection). I can't take it!
"Mina, do you want to find a boyfriend so he can pick you up at the city gate next time?" Matt asked in a low voice.
"No, no, I don't want to at all! Just thinking about a man calling me Nana in that sticky voice gives me goosebumps."
Huh? Why did you suddenly think of this? Do you have a woman you like?
"I'm warning you in advance, you can find women, but absolutely not like that Melanda from last time, I'm afraid I won't be able to resist beating her up!" Mina said.
The woman she was referring to, Miranda, was a war correspondent. She was quite pretty, and she had originally come for Mortilan's shield, but she had finally found an opportunity to show her face in front of him.
A month later, when she saw him again, he treated her like a stranger and completely forgot about her.
Instead, Matt remembered her face and gave her a sympathetic look, which caused trouble.
Milanda began to find various excuses to make her presence known to Matt. On one occasion, she even ignored the danger warnings from the vanguard soldiers and secretly followed Matt and his group into the horde of mutated beasts.
As expected, she was only a second-tier earth-type ability user with extremely low combat skills. She only realized the danger when surrounded by monsters and could only open her mouth and scream.
Matt, a mentalist, needed to use a large-scale mental net to trap the beast horde during the battle. Unfortunately, Mina could only charge into the horde and hack and slash before using a tornado to take Milanda out of the battle area.
When she opened her eyes, she found herself in mid-air, and her screams became even louder, almost deafening Mina.
They hurriedly returned to camp, left their men in a safe area, and went back to the battlefield.
At this moment, Matt, who had just been a little tempted by the display of affection, had his romantic feelings vanish instantly when Mina mentioned Milanda.
“Don’t worry, I don’t want to find a girlfriend for now, unless I meet someone as unpretentious as you, Madam,” Matt said.
"Hey! Matt, do you have some improper thoughts about the lady? If the master finds out, he'll turn you into ice shards!" Mina said in a terrified voice.
"What's going on in your head all day? How could I possibly steal a woman from an adult? Ugh, you've led me astray!"
What I mean is that I'm just using it as an analogy, using the lady as a point of reference.
"It's like looking at the stars at night. I prefer planets, not stars, and Madam is a representative of that type, you know?" Matt had no idea how to explain this to this simpleton.
“I don’t understand. All I know is that no matter who you like, you can’t like Madam!” Mina glared at him.
The family of three walking ahead, oblivious to the bickering between the two subordinates, were busy with their own argument. Modi kept pestering Zuo Shan, trying to get her to reveal what the other birthday present was.
Unable to resist his persistent questioning, Zuo Shan finally blurted out, "I plan to make you a father for the second time. This time, I hope you'll be a sweet and caring daughter."
"What do you mean? I don't understand what you're saying." Morti Lannister racked his brains, but at this moment he felt as if his IQ had run out of credit and he couldn't understand what she meant at all.
Looking at the man beside her, who was frowning and deep in thought, Zuo Shan suddenly wondered if she had found a fool as her boyfriend.
The fool finally became smart and decided to copy her words verbatim onto the forum to search for answers.
The search results showed that the man had a second child, and the child was a sensible and lovely daughter.
"I, I, I, you, you, you, it's impossible! Augustine, that idiot, the Thunder Vine has failed?" Mortilan Shield was so shocked that he was incoherent.
"Why are you so agitated? Do you doubt that this baby is yours, or do you not want this baby at all?" Zuo Shan's face immediately darkened.
She envisioned the scene where, when Mortilan learned she was pregnant with her second child, he would hold her tenderly, press his head against her belly, and say affectionately, "That's wonderful! We're going to have a daughter!"
But as a result, he looked so shocked that he lost the ability to speak and became a stutterer!
