Chapter 43 Mom Wakes Up

Chapter 43 Mom Wakes Up

Ah Chen's spiritual energy once again entered his mother's body and found the sleeping baby.

This time was different from the past. Although her superpower was somewhat dim, it was much better than the previous times. She was not in a state of almost running out of energy as before.

A faint green light surrounded her, seemingly protecting her from harm.

As usual, Achen gave her a boost of energy, and the little one woke up quickly.

She happily swam around in the warm liquid a few times, then rubbed against Ah Chen's spiritual energy strands.

This was the first time she had ever taken the initiative to approach him, or rather, the first time she had ever had the strength to do so.

Achen felt an indescribable emotion rising in his heart. For the first time in his life, he felt that he was being relied upon by a tiny little person who was connected to him by blood.

At that moment, he thought that he would be willing to go through fire and water for this little person in the future.

He must have become the legendary sister-obsessed brother, even though he can't see what his sister looks like yet, and doesn't know if she will be beautiful or ugly in the future.

But none of this will stop him from spoiling her like a little princess.

After leaving his sister, he entered his mother's brain again. Today, all the neurons in his mother's brain were well-behaved, without any messy tangles.

He finally cautiously approached her central nervous system, a place with an extremely complex and intricate structure. He had never dared to approach it casually before, because it was always shrouded in a gray mist, and he was afraid of accidentally disturbing the neurons there.

But today, he discovered that the gray fog there had been replaced by a faint green light, and the countless ganglia that were originally enveloped by the gray fog had become incredibly clear.

He found dozens of tangled neurons, and he concentrated all his mental energy, transforming it into three slender fingers, and began to comb them.

Although a person has five fingers, only the thumb, index finger, and middle finger are truly dexterous.

For truly precise movements, just these three fingers are enough; the others are superfluous and cumbersome.

Ah Chen looked at the dozens of tangled neurons repeatedly, making sure that the first one he needed to untangle was the outermost one, and that untangling it wouldn't involve the others.

It took him more than ten minutes to finally untangle the first one. With a good start, he began to untangle the second one.

This is much harder to solve than the metal nine-linked rings that his mother had Xiaobao specially make for him when he was a child.

If you solve the nine-linked rings puzzle incorrectly, you can go back and solve it again. But if you make a mistake, you never know which nerve it might affect.

Every nerve here is vital; if one were to be accidentally torn, the consequences would be unimaginable.

Fortunately, after untying the first few knots, the difficulty of unlocking became easier and easier.

Even so, it still took Ah Chen a full eight hours to untie the last one.

Watching the neurons swaying freely like water plants, each one conveying an emotion called joy, Ah Chen finally breathed a sigh of relief, and all the mental energy threads retreated back into his body.

If he were standing, he would definitely be exhausted, but he was already lying next to his mother and fell asleep instantly.

Achen was awakened by the knocking on the door, and Xiaobao immediately got up from the floor and became alert.

"Chaoyang, open the door quickly, I have something important to tell you!" Jason's voice came from outside the door, filled with anxiety.

Chen groggily got up and went to open the door.

Jason shouted urgently, "The mayor just called a meeting with everyone in town and conveyed the official order:"

All ability users of rank C and above are required to prepare for deployment. In three hours, they will travel by airship to Lin Dong City to hunt down the zombies. They must be driven back to the zombie hunting grounds!

Achen was a little taken aback. He glanced at his mother, who was still fast asleep on the bed, and casually said, "We're not soldiers. Are we supposed to be forced to go to the most dangerous places to fight?"

"I heard that originally the higher-ups were just mobilizing people, and those who were willing to go would be given generous rewards. But there was an additional clause that if each town sent more than 30 people, the town would be exempt from taxes for three years."

There are only 28 Class C ability users in our town of Soren. The mayor begged our Captain Big Bear to bring back his younger brother who was studying at a military academy in the city to make up the number.

But we're still missing one, so I have no choice but to ask you for help." Jason said, bowing his head with a face full of guilt.

"Couldn't we just hire someone from another town?" Ah Chen said.

“Right now, every town that’s short-staffed is scrambling to find workers. Our town of Soren got the news later, so we can’t find anyone at all,” Jason said.

It concerns the tax revenue of Soren Town for the next three years. It's not that Achen doesn't want to help, but this time it involves hunting zombies in a very far place, and he's worried about his mother.

Just then, a familiar yet unfamiliar voice came from behind, enunciating each word clearly:

"Where is this? Who are you?"
