Chapter 62 A Woven Dream

Chapter 62 A Woven Dream

Aside from the feather fan, everyone else's first reaction was that what they were seeing was not real.

However, living in a technologically advanced civilization, they did not recognize any illusions and thought they were highly realistic holographic projections.

This technology appeared in the Flowing Light Galaxy more than 300 years ago. However, high-fidelity holographic projection requires a lot of energy to simulate the texture and smell of all the objects in the image, so it is only used occasionally by the elite.

After the outbreak of the Wither Virus, the population and economy of the entire galaxy declined rapidly, and highly realistic holographic projections became the ultimate luxury, with almost no one using them anymore.

But today, they actually saw such a realistic holographic projection in this place that resembles an underwater tomb. This shows that there must be a super big shot maintaining this scene behind the scenes.

Just as everyone was hesitating whether to go over and experience this extremely luxurious high technology for themselves, they saw a door in the courtyard open and a fourteen or fifteen-year-old girl dressed in ancient costume walk out.

This courtyard was originally designed to resemble an ancient farmhouse, and now that a young farm girl has appeared, it gives everyone the feeling of watching a period drama.

But who would be so foolish as to use highly realistic holographic projection technology to create a film or television series set in ancient China?

After the little girl left the room, she first looked up and squinted at the sun, then frowned and sighed.

"Ah Jin, where did you go? Why aren't you back yet?" she murmured to herself, then walked to the swing set hanging between two big trees and sat down.

She was holding a paper, thread-bound notebook with a white cover. Inside, there were lines of ancient Chinese calligraphy written in small regular script.

Both the paper and the binding method of the notebook look very rough.

The handwriting inside is also a bit crooked, like that of a beginner.

“Ah Jin, do you know? I used to dislike learning to write from my father because everyone in the village said that as long as a girl learns needlework and cooking, she can be a good wife and mother when she grows up and gets married.”

Back then, with you by my side, I could tell you all my secrets, even though the villagers said, "What can a snake understand?"

But I just know that you are smarter than all the animals. You can understand everything. When I'm happy, you draw circles with your tail and rub against my palm.

When I'm sad, you rub your head against my face.

Back then, I thought Ah Jin would be with me for life, so I was too lazy to learn to write.

But after you left, no one understood my sadness anymore, so I learned to write from my father.

When I write, I concentrate on my writing so I won't think of you.

But I know clearly that I learned to write for you, because I want to write down every little thing about growing up with you, so that when I'm old and senile, I can look at this notebook and remember you, remember the joy of my youth.

As the girl spoke, she took a bamboo tube from a tree branch next to the swing set. The tube was half-filled with ink, and there was a small calligraphy brush next to it.

The girl dipped a calligraphy brush in ink, sat on the swing set, opened her notebook, and began to write. After a while, she looked up at the sun and smiled.

"Hehe, Ah Jin, aren't I clever? I don't like grinding ink every time I write, so I ground a lot at once and put it in this bamboo tube."

Although it might dry out over time, I can just add some water and stir it, and it'll be ready to use again.

The girl wrote another paragraph, finally closed the notebook, and then, puffing out her cheeks, said:

“Ah Jin, I’m warning you, if you don’t come back soon, I’m getting married! When I go to my husband’s house, I definitely won’t be able to take you with me, and even if you come back, it will be too late.”

But if you come back now, I will forgive you, and then I will tell my father that I will not get married, and at most I will find a son-in-law to live with us so that our Xia family can continue its lineage.

Now that my son-in-law has accepted my family's betrothal gifts, he certainly won't dare to interfere with my raising a cute little snake. Ah Jin, you can stay with me forever and ever.

But Ah Jin, I don't actually want to find a son-in-law to live with me. I don't want to marry anyone.

Sigh! If only you were a man. I don't need you to be handsome, rich, or highly educated.

My family has thirty acres of paddy fields, and I can also make embroidery to sell, which should be enough to support the two of us.

What about you? If you have the strength, go up the mountain to gather firewood. I also learned how to set traps for hunting from the book; I'll teach you how to do that later.

When you return from gathering firewood and pass by the traps, take the opportunity to collect any unfortunate prey that has fallen into them.

Look how happy we are together!

As soon as the girl finished speaking, the courtyard gate was pushed open, and a farm boy dressed in short clothes walked in, carrying a wild rabbit and a pheasant in his left hand and a large bundle of firewood on his back.

"Whose son are you? Did you come to the wrong house?" The girl was so surprised that she jumped off the swing set.

The boy went straight to the woodshed, put down the bundle of firewood, hung the prey on the roof beam, then went to the water vat in the yard to scoop water to wash the blood off his hands before going into the yard.

"Ah Yao, I am Ah Jin. I have successfully transformed into human form by a great opportunity. Are you afraid that I am a monster?" Young Ah Jin looked at her with eyes full of expectation and worry.

The girl rushed over and hugged him tightly, then reached out and touched him from head to toe with a look of surprise on her face.

"It really is Ah Jin! I can recognize your scent as soon as I smell it, there's no mistake! I never expected that the Bodhisattva heard my prayer and granted my wish."

Ah Jin, now it's all good. I don't have to marry any other man. I want to marry you, and then we can be together forever and ever, never to be apart again!

The girl was so excited that she danced around. Her joy was infectious, making everyone who was watching forget that it was all fake. They even sincerely hoped that the girl could be with the snake demon named Ah Jin and stay together until old age.

Everything seemed to proceed smoothly from there. The girl and Ah Jin both put on bright red wedding clothes, went through the wedding ceremony, and then entered the bridal chamber.

Inside the bridal chamber, A Yao's veil was lifted. Unlike other brides who would be shy, she smiled and held A Jin's hand.

"Ah Jin, is all of this real? I still can't believe it. Could this all be a beautiful dream?"

As the girl finished speaking, everything before their eyes turned into tiny specks of light, including the girl herself.

The empty courtyard was devoid of the lively villagers, leaving only two large trees and the swing set.

Beside the swing set stood Ah Jin, who had grown up. Although his face was still handsome and did not look old, his eyes were filled with the vicissitudes of time.

"I'm sorry, Yao, I came back late and didn't have a chance to make your dream come true."

But it doesn't matter, I've found a way to make up for all of this. Once I succeed, we can stay together for many, many years.

I believe this was fate. If I had returned in time, we would only have been able to stay together for a few decades, because human lifespan is far too short.

But I am not the little snake you think I am; I am a five-clawed golden dragon, and our dragon race has a long lifespan.

So please forgive my selfishness; in order to be together forever, I'm willing to change you into someone you might not like.

The illusion then vanished completely.

Then, a cold voice came: "Everyone, have you seen enough? Weren't you also moved by the story of Ayao and Ajin?"

So, for them to be together forever, I believe you would be willing to give your lives for it, wouldn't you?
