"Doctor, I don't want this child." Shen Zhi Qiu glanced at the test report on the table and frowned.
“You need to think this through. Your uterine wall is exceptionally thin. If you don’t want it, you may never be able to have children again. And,” the doctor looked intently at Shen Zhi Qiu’s somewhat pale face and patiently explained the situation, pointing to the ultrasound report, “it shows there are two embryos.”
"Then," Shen Zhi Qiu said, a hint of fear flashing across her face. She stood up somewhat flusteredly, lowered her head, and said, "I'll think about it some more."
"Hmm, have a good talk with your boyfriend. It's best not to make decisions like this on your own." The doctor looked at the girl's reaction and guessed what was going on. She stood up, walked over to Shen Zhi Qiu, and gently patted her shoulder.
Boy friend?
Shen Zhi Qiu's face darkened upon hearing these words.
She gripped the report tightly in her hand, a sharp pain shooting through her heart.
If "she" hadn't returned, this would undoubtedly be wonderful news, but now...
"Thank you, doctor. I'll be going now." Shen Zhi Qiu politely bowed to the doctor to express her gratitude, then quickly walked towards the stairwell.
"Looks like another unplanned pregnancy. How many is this today? College students these days..." The cleaning lady at the entrance saw Shen Zhi Qiu coming out of the obstetrics and gynecology department looking lost. She pursed her lips and whispered to the cleaning lady wiping the chairs next to her.
As soon as I stepped out of the hospital, my phone vibrated in my bag.
Shen Zhi Qiu took out her phone and saw the name of the person she least wanted to see flashing on the screen—"Gu Qing Yan".
She pursed her lips, but still answered the call.
"Where are you? I have something to tell you." Gu Qingyan's voice was as cold as ever.
"I was out shopping," Shen Zhi Qiu said, glancing at the report.
"Go home right now." After saying this, Gu Qingyan hung up the phone.
Shen Zhi Qiu gave a wry smile, looked at the phone that was already blacked out and held in mid-air, and silently put it into her pocket.
She folded the report and carefully tucked it into the inner lining of her handbag.
As soon as they reached the villa entrance, Butler Chen greeted them, "Young Madam."
Shen Zhi Qiu smiled and nodded at him, but seeing that Uncle Chen's expression was a little unnatural, she asked, "Uncle Chen, what's wrong?"
"Please go in first, Madam. Young Master is waiting for you inside." Uncle Chen avoided the main point and reached out to take Shen Zhi Qiu's handbag as usual.
Shen Zhi Qiu quickly hid her bag behind her back. "It's okay, I can do it myself." With that, she walked inside.
She had only taken two steps when she heard familiar laughter coming from the direction of the living room. Shen Zhi Qiu paused. So fast? She had just received the news this morning that "she" had returned to the country.
"Zhiqiu, you're back. I just heard Qingyan say you were coming back. Wait a moment, I'll go call him." Xiao Wanqing gracefully stood up, greeted Shen Zhiqiu with a smile, and walked towards the kitchen.
Shen Zhi Qiu followed her gaze to the kitchen, where Gu Qing Yan was washing grapes with his head down. He was still wearing his work white shirt and trousers, a stark contrast to what he was doing at the moment.
Shen Zhi Qiu's face darkened further. In the three years of their marriage, Gu Qing Yan had never even brought her a glass of water, let alone washed fruit for her.
She had always thought that Gu Qingyan, a pampered young master, was used to being taken care of and didn't know how to take care of others. She never imagined he just didn't take care of her.
"Qingyan, Zhiqiu is here. Let's go over there." Xiao Wanqing's voice was gentle.
Shen Zhi Qiu stood at the door, her body stiffening.
She just said "Zhi Qiu is here," not "Zhi Qiu has returned."
"Heh," Shen Zhi Qiu chuckled self-deprecatingly and walked toward the sofa.
Gu Qingyan had already sat down and placed the fruit on the glass coffee table.
Xiao Wanqing straightened her white skirt and sat down next to him naturally.
Shen Zhi Qiu's eyes darkened. She sat down on the sofa opposite them and placed her bag beside her.
"Zhiqiu, have some grapes, they're very sweet." Xiao Wanqing handed one to Shen Zhiqiu.
"Thank you, but I don't like grapes," Shen Zhi Qiu politely declined.
Upon hearing this, Gu Qingyan raised his head and glanced at her casually.
Sensing a scrutinizing gaze, Shen Zhi Qiu met Gu Qing Yan's eyes, remaining calm and composed without a trace of expression.
"Qingyan, here, for you." With that, Xiao Wanqing bowed slightly and held a grape to Gu Qingyan's lips.
Gu Qingyan opened her mouth and bit into the grape without hesitation.
"Zhiqiu, Qingyan and I both love grapes, it's a pity you don't." Xiao Wanqing smiled and sat down.
Shen Zhi Qiu's mind was preoccupied with the doctor's words, so she didn't pay much attention to Xiao Wan Qing's actions. In a daze, she heard the last sentence and asked in confusion, "What did you just say, 'It's a pity I don't like it'?"
"It's not important. I called you back to tell you that Wanqing has just returned to China, her family is all abroad, the house is still under renovation, and she has nowhere to stay for the time being. She can stay at our house for a month." Gu Qingyan frowned, seemingly very dissatisfied with Shen Zhiqiu's distraction, and said somewhat impatiently.
Shen Zhi Qiu glanced at Xiao Wan Qing and Gu Qing Yan. With the two of them sitting together, she felt like an outsider. She paused for a second, then spoke somewhat reluctantly, "Actually, Miss Xiao can stay at a hotel. Staying at our place might be inconvenient for me..."
“There’s nothing inconvenient about it. It’s settled then. Wanqing, I’ll show you the room.” Gu Qingyan interrupted Shen Zhi Qiu directly, stood up, smoothed out the wrinkles in her shirt, and turned to walk towards the stairwell.
"I'm sorry, Zhi Qiu, I'll only be staying for a month. I'll move out as soon as the renovation is finished." Xiao Wanqing stood up gracefully, a smile unconsciously curving her lips. She glanced down at the somewhat stunned Shen Zhi Qiu and followed Gu Qingyan upstairs.
"Young Madam." The nanny, Zhang Ma, looked at Shen Zhi Qiu somewhat awkwardly, unsure of what to say.
"Aunt Zhang, have you ever seen Gu Qingyan washing fruit?" Shen Zhi Qiu asked with a forced, unpleasant smile, sounding somewhat self-deprecating.
"Um, Madam, please don't worry, Young Master..." Zhang Ma sighed, looking at the young mistress's pale face. She had seen him three years ago; back then, the young master would wash fruit for Miss Xiao. But she was afraid that if she spoke, the young mistress's expression would worsen. When they first got married, the young mistress was incredibly attentive to the young master, something all the servants had noticed, but the young master had always maintained a cold attitude. Now, alas, things were probably even more difficult.
"Zhang Ma, stop talking. I'll go back to my room first." Shen Zhi Qiu took a deep breath, her face drained of color, and stood up to walk towards her room upstairs.
As she passed the second floor, she heard Gu Qingyan's voice, "Wanqing, you're finally back."
Shen Zhi Qiu swayed slightly, then quickened her pace and headed up to the third floor, afraid of hearing any more hurtful words.
