"I have the money ready." Two hours later, the woman sent a message, along with a photo of the cash.
Brother Biao lowered his head, zoomed in on the photo with two fingers, and examined the pile of cash carefully. Then he sent a message: "Record a video. Otherwise, what if only the top bill is real, and the rest are just blank bills?"
The woman glared angrily at her phone screen, then kicked over the neatly stacked cash. Brother Biao was right; it was all blank paper underneath!
Knowing she couldn't fool him anymore, the woman had no choice but to hand over the prepared cash and then send a video of herself flipping through the banknotes.
Soon, she received a location.
The woman curled her lips into a smile, thinking to herself that this person had a knack for picking locations, choosing such a deserted place, which made it easy for her to carry out her plan.
It was past dinner time, and Brother Biao was getting a little irritable, worried that Huang Mao would cause trouble if he went out on his own.
Just as I was about to call Huang Mao, I heard the sound of a car engine.
Brother Biao strode out, peeked out to confirm it was Huang Mao returning, and quickly called out to him, "Put your mask on properly, and pull up the hood of your hoodie. Don't let her see your face!"
"Wasn't she wearing a mask?" the blond-haired man asked, puzzled, as he carried a pile of lunchboxes.
"I've untied her. Isn't it time to eat? Have you bought everything I asked you to buy, according to my requirements?" Brother Biao peeked out, looking at the food he had bought.
"Everything was done as you said! Don't worry." The blond-haired man gestured for him to help him carry some things so he could put on his mask before going inside.
As they approached the door, Brother Biao called out to Huang Mao, feeling that he was too impulsive and worried that Huang Mao might say something wrong, so they decided to stay outside.
"You go eat next door first, I'll bring the food in and then come over to meet you. We'll eat over there and then come back here."
"Okay, bro, I'll head over first." Yellow Hair picked up his things and turned to leave. He was hungry too and didn't want to delay his mealtime.
Shen Zhi Qiu looked at the two dishes and soup in front of her, and glanced at Brother Biao, who was getting her chopsticks, with some surprise. Brother Biao broke the disposable chopsticks apart, then rubbed them back and forth a few times to make sure there were no small burrs before handing them to Shen Zhi Qiu.
"Hurry up and eat. Don't let the kids go hungry," Brother Biao urged.
"Big brother, do you have children?" Shen Zhi Qiu asked tentatively.
Brother Biao glanced at her warily and asked cautiously, "What's wrong?"
"No, I just think you're a really nice person. Why would you do something like this?" Shen Zhi Qiu pursed her lips, feeling that his attitude had softened when she mentioned the child, so she asked anyway.
"Of course we're short of money." Brother Biao didn't want to say more, stood up and walked straight outside.
"Brother Biao, when are you going to pay us? We've already completed our mission." Yellow Hair stuffed a mouthful of rice into his mouth, tilted his head, and asked, holding his lunchbox.
"She'll be here soon." Brother Biao glanced at his watch; it was already 6:30 PM. She should be arriving soon.
"I wonder how much money she's going to extort from this woman's husband? It might be more than ten times what we're offered!" the blond-haired man continued. "Should we raise the price? I bet she'll pay up!"
"How can you do this!" Brother Biao frowned and glared at him sternly. "The worst thing in our line of work is raising prices at the last minute. We've already raised prices. If we do this again, who will want to work with us anymore!"
"Didn't you say it was because of the kids? If you've already done this job, why aren't you doing it again?" The blond-haired man curled his lip and said with some disdain.
"I don't know." Brother Biao pursed his lips. "If the child recovers after this surgery, I definitely won't do it anymore. This kind of thing is for the child's good karma; I can't do it again. But," Brother Biao lowered his head, putting down his chopsticks, "what if further treatment is needed after this, then I..."
"Hey, Brother Biao, it sounds like someone's coming!" Huang Mao heard the car and quickly nudged Brother Biao's arm with his elbow.
Brother Biao hurriedly put down his lunchbox, quietly walked to the edge of the wall, and cautiously peeked out.
A car came to a steady stop on the wasteland. A woman wearing a mask got out of the car, bent down and pulled a suitcase from the back seat, then looked panting in the direction of the building.
"Let's go, let's collect the money." Brother Biao waved to the blond-haired man, signaling him to put on his mask, and they walked out together.
As he passed by where Shen Zhi Qiu was, Brother Biao glanced inside and saw that she had just finished eating.
Brother Biao led the blond-haired man inside, then whispered to Shen Zhi Qiu, "We're going to cover your head first and hand you over to someone else. I'll try my best to persuade her not to tie you up. She's only after money; she won't take your life."
After saying that, he put the cloth bag over her head.
Shen Zhi Qiu was somewhat terrified, not knowing who had come. She only knew that although the person in front of her had kidnapped her, he seemed to still have some conscience, so she quickly grabbed his hand and pleaded, "How can you guarantee she won't hurt me? Brother, please, I'm pregnant, please!"
Biao Ge felt a pang of pity, and Huang Mao, noticing his wavering and fearing it would affect his own chances of getting the money, quickly stepped forward, pulled Shen Zhi Qiu's hand away, and whispered, "Don't you want the money to treat your child?"
Upon hearing this, Brother Biao immediately turned around and strode outside, ignoring Shen Zhi Qiu's shouts from behind.
"You guys are too slow. Looks like you're not really interested in the money?" The woman took off her mask, revealing a seemingly sweet face, and joked with a smile. She was wearing a pink T-shirt and simple jeans, looking like an innocent-looking female college student.
The blond-haired man was somewhat surprised. He had thought it would be a rather vicious woman, otherwise why would she have approached them to commit kidnapping?
"You've worked hard! Here, all the money is here. Please count it." The woman handed the suitcase to Brother Biao.
Brother Biao took the box, placed it on the ground, pressed the lock on the side to open the box, and his brow furrowed as he looked at the cash inside.
"Aren't you going to help him order?" the woman said with a smile to the blond-haired man.
Seeing so much money, Huang Mao was naturally itching to get his hands on it. Hearing her say that, he couldn't resist any longer and immediately squatted down to check the money.
The woman subtly curled the corners of her lips.
"You can keep the money, but where's the person I wanted?"
"Go straight ahead, there's a staircase there. Go up to the second floor and turn left, and you'll see people," Brother Biao said, pointing in the direction of Shen Zhi Qiu.
Then, he said, "Her family is probably frantic looking for her. You can get a good price if you want money now."
"Ha, who said I wanted money? I'll make her die, oh no, I'll make her suffer a fate worse than death." The woman laughed wildly, her voice echoing eerily in the abandoned factory.
