"Okay." Lin Su couldn't resist her coaxing at all and immediately agreed, "I'll clean it for you."
Lin Su tugged at his sleeve, gently pulled on Xiao Wanqing's dirty clothes, and bent down to carefully wipe them. His eyes were focused, and his movements were very gentle, as if he were handling a rare treasure.
Xiao Wanqing sneered inwardly. She knew all too well her place in Lin Su's heart. It was true that he hated her, but what was the source of that hatred?
The root of hatred is love.
She knew very well that Lin Su's love for her had never changed.
Even though she had committed so many heinous and outrageous acts, Xiao Wanqing knew very well that she was always held in the most important place in his heart. How could someone so attached to romantic love possibly survive to the end?
Thinking of this, Xiao Wanqing curled her lips into a cruel smile. She narrowed her eyes, seized the opportunity, quickly grabbed a knife from the ground, and stabbed it straight at Lin Su's chest.
By the time Lin Su realized her intention and tried to hold her hand down, it was already too late.
Shen Zhi Qiu stumbled and staggered all the way downstairs.
She forced herself to calm down and observed carefully; there was only one main road here.
The dilapidated factory buildings on the outskirts of the city looked eerie in the pitch-black night. All was quiet, and the wind howled outside, offering no shelter. Shen Zhi Qiu looked up; only the moon, obscured by dark clouds, shone faintly, but nothing was clearly visible.
Without the slightest hesitation, Shen Zhi Qiu quickly removed the decorative brooch from her jacket. There was a hidden clasp in the middle of the brooch, which she quickly pried open to reveal the diamond inside, and then threw it several meters forward.
Then, she cautiously explored the path and walked in the opposite direction.
After walking for about ten minutes, she suddenly sensed a glimmer of light on the road behind her. Shen Zhi Qiu was startled, but thankfully, fearing they would chase after her, she deliberately ducked into the bushes on either side of the road and cautiously walked through them.
She quickly squatted down, trying to bend her body as low as possible, but because of her pregnancy, this movement was extremely uncomfortable for her. Moreover, the doctor had advised pregnant women to avoid squatting for too long, as it could easily lead to miscarriage. Therefore, Shen Zhi Qiu squatted down with a heavy heart.
She vaguely heard hurried footsteps, and she held her breath, not daring to move.
Sure enough, Xiao Wanqing chased after her from the factory.
Shen Zhi Qiu watched as she waved her phone around, trying to illuminate the surroundings.
Suddenly, a small flash of light on the ground caught her attention. Xiao Wanqing quickly squatted down, picked it up, and saw that it was Shen Zhi Qiu's brooch. She remembered very clearly that Gu Qingyan's mother had bought this brooch for a high price at an auction. She liked it very much at the time, but watched helplessly as Gu Qingyan's mother gave it to Shen Zhi Qiu.
Xiao Wanqing curled her lips and cursed, "Heh, it's still in my hands! Shen Zhi Qiu, let's see where you can run now!" Then she strode ahead and chased after him.
Only when she heard the footsteps slowly fading away did Shen Zhi Qiu dare to cautiously raise her head and glance in the direction of the light.
Watching her walk away, Shen Zhi Qiu finally breathed a sigh of relief, slowly stood up a little, and then walked forward cautiously in the opposite direction.
After walking for a long time, Shen Zhi Qiu was exhausted. Looking at the dim sky, she decided to rest first, otherwise her body wouldn't be able to keep up. So she ventured deeper into the grass, away from the main road. Once she was sure that she was surrounded by tall grass, Shen Zhi Qiu relaxed and slowly lay down.
Shen Zhi Qiu was awakened by a loud roar, not knowing how long she had slept.
She groggily opened her eyes; the sky was already beginning to lighten. She squinted and carefully checked her watch; it showed that it was already 5 a.m.
She gently shook her groggy head and saw the helicopter parked about 200 meters away from her; the roaring sound was coming from the helicopter.
She stared wide-eyed in disbelief, but still kept her body low and observed warily.
Only when she saw Lu Jia and Jiang Bei appear in the grass and run wildly toward her did Shen Zhi Qiu dare to stand up and wave to them incessantly.
Upon seeing Shen Zhi Qiu's figure, Lu Jia quickened his pace. The wind blew up his black trench coat, and the hem of the coat rustled as it brushed against the grass.
His face was grim, his brows were tightly furrowed, his beard was unshaven, and his eyes were bloodshot as if he hadn't slept at all. After standing in front of Shen Zhi Qiu, Lu Jia hurriedly grabbed Shen Zhi Qiu's arm and carefully examined her. After confirming that she was unharmed, he slowly let go of her arm and said softly, "I'm sorry, Zhi Qiu. I'm late."
Jiang Bei then slowly walked up to them, wanting to give them some space. Although Shen Zhi Qiu wasn't injured, her clothes were filthy, clearly indicating she had suffered a lot. He frowned, looking at Shen Zhi Qiu's slightly protruding belly with some heartache.
"Come with me, Zhi Qiu." Lu Jia suppressed the sadness in his heart and gently persuaded her. Knowing what she was worried about, he quickly added, "Don't worry, I've already contacted Miss Zhou. Everything is fine with Auntie. Trust me."
Suddenly, a car speeding down the main road interrupted their conversation.
"Autumn is here!"
"Autumn is here!"
Two urgent male voices rang out.
