Lu Jia's face was still a little pale, but her overall condition was much better than yesterday.
He looked at Shen Zhi Qiu tenderly and forced a smile.
"Would you like to sit up a bit?" Seeing that he was in better spirits, Shen Zhi Qiu breathed a sigh of relief and asked softly.
"Okay." Lu Jia nodded slightly.
Rong Mo overheard their conversation and prepared to step forward to help. But Si Mingyu had already reached the switch for adjusting the hospital bed before him, and silently began to raise the headboard slightly, occasionally asking if the height was suitable.
Shen Zhi Qiu glanced at him, somewhat surprised, but still politely said, "Thank you, Brother Ming Yu."
Si Mingyu froze, still bent over, and couldn't help but sigh softly.
He straightened up and faced Shen Zhi Qiu, saying gently, "Zhi Qiu, you don't really need to be so polite with me."
He stood there calmly, looking at Shen Zhi Qiu, his wisps of hair partially obscuring his eyebrows, his expression now gentle.
Shen Zhi Qiu didn't speak, but simply nodded slightly as a polite response.
Rong Mo looked at the two of them and felt that the atmosphere was really strange.
He walked to the window and moved a small single sofa there to the bedside.
Si Mingyu saw through his intention and stepped forward to help. Together, the two moved the small sofa to where Shen Zhi Qiu was standing.
"Zhiqiu, come, sit down. Don't overwork yourself." Rong Mo gently invited Shen Zhiqiu to sit down first.
"Listen to me." Lu Jia smiled and said to Shen Zhi Qiu.
After Shen Zhi Qiu sat down, Rong Mo went out.
"Are you feeling much better today?" Shen Zhi Qiu naturally held Lu Jia's hand, her face full of concern.
"Hmm, much better, I'm fine, don't worry." Lu Jia slowly raised her hand, wanting to tidy up Shen Zhi Qiu's hair that had been messed up by the wind.
Seeing this, Shen Zhi Qiu lowered her head slightly and moved even closer.
Lu Jia laboriously smoothed out a slightly messy strand of her hair and tucked it behind her ear.
After he finished, Shen Zhi Qiu took a step back, looked up, and the two exchanged a knowing smile.
Si Mingyu stood at the foot of the bed, silently watching the two's intimate actions, his face still bearing a gentle smile, though the corner of his mouth trembled slightly involuntarily.
Footsteps approached from afar outside the door.
Rong Mo has returned.
He came in hurriedly, carrying a paper bag, and there was still a hint of autumn and winter chill on him.
Rong Mo glanced at the three people in the ward.
Si Mingyu stood there like a wooden statue, but it must be said that he was still quite good-looking.
Rong Mo couldn't help but admire Zhi Qiu's good taste; the people she had liked were all outstanding in appearance, but their character was questionable.
Rong Mo walked past Si Mingyu and placed the paper bag on the bedside table.
Lu Jia saw Rong Mo approaching and smiled, wanting to get up to greet him. Rong Mo quickly gestured for him not to move, saying, "You should take good care of yourself and get well soon."
After saying that, he opened the paper bag, took out a cup of hot milk and handed it to Shen Zhi Qiu, saying, "It's a bit chilly, hold this to keep warm. It's hot milk, be careful not to burn yourself."
Then he handed another cup of coffee to Si Mingyu.
Si Mingyu was somewhat flattered and quickly accepted it with both hands.
Looking at the full glass of ice in my hand, I couldn't help but shiver.
"Drinking an iced Americano in winter is truly refreshing," Rong Mo glanced at him and said casually.
"Thank you, Mr. Rong." Si Mingyu understood the meaning behind his words and forced a smile.
"Knock knock knock." A knock suddenly sounded at the door.
Rong Mo thought it was the doctor coming to check on the patients, so he called out to the door, "Please come in."
Unexpectedly, it was Gu Qingyan who pushed open the door and walked in.
As soon as Gu Qingyan entered the room, Shen Zhi Qiu unconsciously frowned.
"What are you doing here?" Shen Zhi Qiu asked Gu Qing Yan with some impatience.
"I've come to visit you in the hospital." Seeing Shen Zhi Qiu's unfriendly expression, Gu Qing Yan forced a smile, then looked at Si Ming Yu standing in front of the bed and couldn't help but press his lips down.
“You don’t have any connection with Lu Jia, so there’s no need for you to come and visit him in the hospital,” Shen Zhi Qiu replied somewhat irritably.
"We're acquaintances, after all. I'm in the capital, so there's no reason for me not to come." Seeing that no one seemed to be welcoming him, Gu Qingyan simply walked inside on his own.
Shen Zhi Qiu couldn't help but frown. "You're already divorced, why are you still haunting me?"
Gu Qingyan listened to Shen Zhi Qiu's words and, unusually, didn't put on a sour face. He raised his right hand and calmly said, "I don't know what you need, Lu Jia. I guess you don't need anything. I just bought a fruit basket at the door. Eating more fruit will help you recover faster."
"Brother, where would be a good place to put the fruit basket?" Gu Qingyan asked Rong Mo, turning to him when no one responded.
Rong Mo couldn't help but twitch his lips, marveling at Gu Qingyan's incredibly thick skin. He looked at Gu Qingyan speechlessly, "I told you, don't call me brother anymore. You and Zhi Qiu are divorced, don't act like you're still family."
“If I call you brother once, I’ll be brother forever. Chinese people value seniority the most, and this can’t be changed, it’s impolite.” Gu Qingyan looked at Rong Mo and said this nonsense with a straight face.
"Don't try to claim kinship here. This is my brother, not yours." Shen Zhi Qiu couldn't hold back any longer. She turned around and glared at Gu Qing Yan, her nose slightly wrinkled, her face full of dissatisfaction.
Gu Qingyan didn't respond to her words, nor was she angry. Instead, she looked at her with a smile and asked, "Are you hungry? I brought you some bird's nest."
He placed the fruit basket on the table, then opened the insulated bag in his left hand and took out a small, exquisite lunchbox.
"Don't take it, I won't eat it." Shen Zhi Qiu glanced at it and directly rejected Gu Qing Yan's offer. She wondered what he wanted to do.
"Then I'll put it in an insulated bag first, so it doesn't get cold." Gu Qingyan calmly put the lunchbox back, smiling the whole time, without getting angry at all.
"Gu Qingyan, are you out of your mind?" Shen Zhi Qiu shouted angrily, "We're already divorced, why are you putting on this show? You never did this before the divorce, do you think it's still necessary now? Just leave, I don't need anything from you."
"Don't be angry, I won't say anything." Gu Qingyan's face turned slightly cold, but then she remembered something and immediately smiled again, speaking gently.
Si Mingyu, who had been silent to the side, couldn't help but look up at Gu Qingyan.
An indescribable feeling lingered in his heart; Gu Qingyan was unusually different today.
It seems like he's not as sharp-tongued anymore? He's become more eloquent. Could it be that he has a master mentor behind him?
