Chapter 17 Gu Qingyan comes to her aid

Shen Yanshan froze, looking anxiously toward the door.

A tall, imposing figure appeared at the doorway, his long legs striding in. Gu Qingyan was dressed in a sharp, dark blue suit, his simple white shirt impeccably tailored, and his dark blue tie crisp, exuding an aura of cool elegance and nobility.

His cold expression softened the moment he saw Shen Zhi Qiu, and he said gently, "Zhi Qiu, I've come to take you home."

Shen Zhi Qiu felt a chill run down her spine and stiffen slightly, unable to understand what Gu Qing Yan was up to.

"Dad, who were you about to kick out?" Gu Qingyan withdrew his gaze, his sharp eyes sweeping over Shen Yanshan, and his brows furrowed slightly as his gaze swept over the slap mark on Shen Meiyan's face.

Shen Yanshan was feeling uneasy. He didn't know how much of the conversation at the dinner table Gu Qingyan had overheard. Just as he was thinking about how to explain, Lin Yuehuan stood up with a smile and took over the conversation, "Qingyan, you're here? The nanny accidentally knocked things over, and your dad was so angry that he told her to get out."

Gu Qingyan glanced at Shen Zhi Qiu with an inscrutable expression, but remained silent.

"Brother-in-law, what brings you here? Let's sit down and eat together." Shen Meiyan's fierce demeanor vanished, replaced by a shy tone, and a blush crept onto her face.

"What happened to the finger marks on your face?" Gu Qingyan stood next to Shen Zhi Qiu without sitting down, deliberately asking Shen Mei Yan. Shen Zhi Qiu's shoulders twitched.

"yes......"

Before Shen Meiyan could speak, Shen Yanshan reacted and immediately replied, "Meiyan did something wrong, so I hit her."

Upon hearing this, Shen Meiyan pursed her lips and looked at Lin Yuehuan. Lin Yuehuan shook her head slightly, signaling her not to speak anymore. She wasn't sure what Gu Qingyan wanted to do either, and it was better to observe quietly to avoid making a mistake.

"Dad, Meiyan is still young. If she does something wrong, we can teach her. Let's not hit her. When I saw the deep handprint, I almost thought my wife had hit my sister in a fit of anger. Thank goodness it wasn't her."

Gu Qingyan said calmly, gently rubbing Chen Zhi Qiu's hair, "She's been in a bad mood lately, especially when she hits dogs. Luckily, she doesn't hit people, otherwise it would be quite troublesome. It's also my fault; I've spoiled her."

His gaze was distant, his expression languid, and he seemed to disregard everyone present.

Shen Zhi Qiu was both annoyed and amused, but seeing Gu Qing Yan protecting her like this, she felt very strange. Since everyone was present, there was no need to embarrass herself, so she picked up her chopsticks and started eating as if no one else was there. After all, she was eating with two other people and would get hungry easily.

Hearing these words, Shen Yanshan dared not show his displeasure, even though he was inwardly annoyed. He put on a smile and said obsequiously, "Zhiqiu has always been stubborn since she was little. Qingyan, please bear with her. Don't just stand there. You've come all this way, have something to eat before you leave."

Gu Qingyan glanced down at the table full of dishes. "Forget it, we won't eat." He then casually picked up Shen Zhi Qiu's chopsticks. "Dad, Zhi Qiu's appetite has changed recently. She doesn't like these. I'll take her home to eat."

"It's alright, whatever you like to eat, I'll ask the housekeeper to add more dishes." Lin Yuehuan smiled and smoothed things over. She still wanted to talk about the land at the dinner table, as it would be easier to discuss things when the family was sitting down to eat.

"Alright then." Gu Qingyan pondered for a moment and began listing the dishes: "Zhiqiu recently likes Norwegian salmon, with freshly sliced Spanish Iberian ham, freshly caught French oysters, steamed Australian lobster weighing over 10 pounds, and thin-crust pizza freshly baked by a five-star Italian chef..." Gu Qingyan didn't waste any words, listing them off as if they were his own treasures, and then added with a look of sudden realization: "By the way, it must be air-freighted over as soon as possible. Otherwise, Zhiqiu will complain that it's not fresh and won't want to eat much."

After he finished speaking, the corners of everyone's mouths twitched involuntarily, and Shen Zhi Qiu looked at this man who was talking nonsense with a straight face with complete bewilderment.

While everyone was still stunned, Gu Qingyan helped Shen Zhiqiu up and said to everyone in a calm tone, "Let's not bother. I'll take Zhiqiu back to eat. The housekeeper went to pick up the air-freighted ingredients early this morning, and the kitchen is already preparing them. My wife doesn't like it if it's too late and affects the freshness."

After saying that, ignoring everyone's reactions, he put his arm around Shen Zhi Qiu and walked outside.

Shen Yanshan watched their retreating figures, lost in thought. It seemed that Gu Qingyan wasn't as indifferent to his daughter as he had previously heard. This was a good thing. Thinking of this, a smile appeared on Shen Yanshan's face.

As soon as I stepped out of the gate, I heard the sounds of bowls and chopsticks being smashed and Shen Meiyan crying inside.

Gu Qingyan curled the corners of his lips slightly.

Butler Uncle Chen immediately opened the car door.

It wasn't until she got into the car that Shen Zhi Qiu came to her senses and stared at Gu Qing Yan suspiciously, asking, "So, you're here to back me up?"

Gu Qingyan got into the car from the other side, his previous intimate attitude completely changed. He sat far away from Shen Zhiqiu, staring straight ahead without glancing at her, his voice extremely cold, "I just don't like my woman being bullied."

"Gu Qingyan, shouldn't you go to the psychiatric department for a checkup? Do you have schizophrenia?" Shen Zhi Qiu was speechless; this man's change of expression was comparable to that of a Sichuan opera actor.

Gu Qingyan remained expressionless, as if he hadn't heard Shen Zhi Qiu speak, but the slight twitching at the corner of his mouth betrayed his inner thoughts.

Shen Zhi Qiu rolled her eyes, adjusted the back of her seat, and finally succumbed to drowsiness and fell asleep.

After not hearing any movement for a while, Gu Qingyan glanced over at her and saw that she had actually fallen asleep. He couldn't help but sigh at how heartless this woman was.
