"Hmph, shut up, let me take a look first." Zhong Yi reached into the man's pants and pulled out his phone. She glanced at the incoming call message, which read "My precious daughter."
"Answer the phone. Be careful what you say." Zhong Yi raised an eyebrow, then pressed the answer button and turned on speakerphone.
"Hey, Dad, when are you coming back? Mom said you've gone on a long trip."
A sweet, childlike voice came from the other side.
"Dad is still away on a business trip. He'll be back in a couple of days," the middle-aged man replied cautiously, glancing at Zhong Yi.
"Dad, my birthday is the day after tomorrow. Mom said you'll definitely be home by then, right?"
The little girl said with a slightly aggrieved look, "Mom said you took a photography job and went to another city, but Dad, I hope you can come back soon to celebrate my birthday, okay?"
"Yes, yes, Daddy will try his best. He will definitely bring you a birthday cake and presents to celebrate your birthday with you, okay?"
The man lowered his head, feeling somewhat guilty.
"Okay, Dad, I won't bother you anymore. Take lots of pictures and bring them back! Mom told me the places you went were really beautiful. Next time, take me and Mom with you on your business trip."
"Okay, Daddy promises."
"Then I'll wait for you to come back, Dad. I promise I'll be good."
After the little girl finished speaking, she hung up the phone.
Seeing that the phone call had ended, the middle-aged man looked at Zhong Yi earnestly and said, "Brother, I'm really just a photographer. You heard what my daughter said, so you should believe me now, right?"
"Brother, I feel like we might have arrested the wrong person. Maybe it really is just a photographer. Let's not scare him."
Lu Xiaoyu stood to the side and whispered a reminder.
Zhong Yi's face was expressionless. He stared at the man in front of him with a complicated expression, his brows furrowed tightly. Then he looked down and began to look through the man's phone.
Zhong Yi checked very carefully. The album contained nothing but landscape photos and pictures of her family. The call records were normal, and the WeChat chat history consisted only of work-related messages and conversations with family. Zhong Yi even looked through all the social media accounts, and there was nothing suspicious at all.
Zhong Yi's tense expression finally eased.
The man carefully raised his head, secretly observing Zhong Yi's expression. Seeing that he seemed to have relaxed, the man secretly breathed a sigh of relief, and the fine beads of sweat on his forehead were covered by his hair.
"Brother, can you let me go now? Please, I'm really just a photographer. I apologize for wandering into your territory."
I promise I'll communicate with you beforehand in the future and won't bother you again. If I don't turn back now, I'll miss my daughter's birthday. Please!
Zhong Yi put away her phone and carefully observed the man's expression. There was nothing suspicious on the phone; everything suggested he was just an ordinary photographer.
"Delete all photos of this place from your camera. If I ever see anyone posting photos of this place anywhere else, I guarantee you'll be in big trouble." Zhong Yi stepped forward, stood in front of the man, and looked down at him, saying, "Also, I've saved a photo of your ID card on your phone. If I want to find you, it couldn't be easier, understand?"
"I know, I know, brother, don't worry, you don't need to worry about this, I know what I'm doing." When the man heard that he had even saved his ID photo, he nodded repeatedly and agreed to all of Zhongyi's requests.
With a single glance from Zhong Yi, Lu Xiaoyu quickly ran over and began to untie the man.
The man, having been bound for too long, stumbled and fell forward when he was first released. Lu Xiaoyu quickly helped him up, asking, "Are you alright?"
"It's nothing, it's nothing, I wasn't paying attention. Thank you, young man." The man quickly regained his balance and forced himself to stand up.
"Can you give me back all my things?" the man asked, glancing at Zhong Yi's phone and camera.
Lu Xiaoyu stepped forward and returned everything to the man, while Zhong Yi also grabbed the bag she had just pulled from the man and handed it to him.
The man quickly packed the items into his bag, thanked him repeatedly, and prepared to leave.
"Wait a minute," Zhong Yi said coldly as she stepped forward.
"What's wrong?" The man shrank back, stopping in his tracks with some fear.
"This is compensation for you; you suffered just now." Zhong Yi handed the man a thick black envelope.
"What's this?" The man hesitated, then opened the envelope. Inside was a thick wad of cash. He immediately beamed and said repeatedly, "Thank you, brother! Thank you so much! I never expected this. Thank you so much!"
Zhong Yi nodded calmly and said in a low voice, "Let's go, remember what I told you."
"Okay, don't worry, bro, I'm off." The man slung his bag over his shoulder and quickly disappeared into the bamboo forest.
"Big brother, what about me?" the young man, who was bound hand and foot, asked cautiously. "Brother, can you let me go now?"
Zhong Yi stared at him with a stern face and an expressionless expression. Her deep eyes were filled with icy coldness, and the young man couldn't help but shiver.
"Brother, if you don't believe me, you can check my phone. I really was just passing by when I suddenly had a malicious thought and wanted to rob some money. That's really all!"
"Then how about we settle the matter of you dragging the old lady to the ground?" Zhong Yi sneered, her eyes becoming even colder.
"I...I really didn't mean to. I just wanted to take something, but the old lady wouldn't let me. When she resisted, I got scared and in my panic I just grabbed her."
As Zhong Yi walked towards him, the young man shrank back in fear, but because he was tied up, he was unable to move at all.
Zhong Yi didn't speak, but walked up to him, squatted down, and began to search the young man. Zhong Yi slid her hand down his clothes, stopping at the pocket on the outside of his thigh.
"What is this?" Zhong Yi pinched it, and based on its appearance, she roughly guessed what it was. Her expression became even colder.
"This, this is nothing." The young man's eyes began to dart away, and he turned his head to the side, not daring to look at Zhong Yi at all.
Seeing this, Zhong reached inside and pulled out the item, saying menacingly, "Didn't you say you were just passing by and wanted to rob someone? Then why are you carrying a syringe with you?"
Zhong Yi took out the syringe, carefully examined the liquid inside, and then squeezed out a little bit. Her heart sank immediately.
