Chapter 30 Provoking Her

Gu Qingyan was startled and, without time to explain, hurried over there.

Because the voice on the other end of the phone was so terrified, almost screaming, it sounded too abrupt in the quiet ward, so Shen Zhi Qiu heard it too.

She pursed her lips, put on a coat, and slowly walked outside.

When she came out, Gu Qingyan was already gone. After thinking for a moment, she went straight to the nurses' station and asked where patients who committed suicide in the middle of the night would be sent.

At the entrance to Xiao Wanqing's hospital room.

When Gu Qingyan rushed out of the elevator, she saw that the door of the ward not far away was already crowded with people, all pointing and talking about what was going on inside.

Huang Lin was pacing anxiously back and forth at the door, constantly looking into the ward and glancing towards the elevator. When he saw Gu Qingyan, he rushed over and shouted, "President Gu, over here!"

"Disperse the crowd, and also, the photos and videos must not be released," Gu Qingyan said as she walked.

Xiao Wanqing was sitting by the window with her legs dangling in the air. Zhang Ma was trying to persuade her with earnest words, but she remained unmoved and insisted on seeing Gu Qingyan.

Hearing Huang Lin's shout, Xiao Wanqing turned her head back. The light was dappled, and her pale face was devoid of color. Her eyes welled up the moment she saw Gu Qingyan appear, and hot tears streamed down her face. She looked like a broken person on the verge of collapse.

"Miss Xiao, I'm begging you, please come down." Looking at her sorrowful expression, Zhang Ma couldn't help but feel heartbroken, especially when she thought of Gu Qingyan's drowning incident years ago, she couldn't help but feel guilty towards Xiao Wanqing.

Gu Qingyan strode in, a hint of panic creeping onto his usually aloof face. He frowned as he looked at the bloodstains on Xiao Wanqing's slender wrist and walked toward her.

The wind was strong in the middle of the night, and the leaves on the leaves by the window rustled.

Xiao Wanqing stared straight at him, her hair disheveled by the wind, and the tear stains on her face still visible, making her look both tragic and sorrowful.

"Don't come any closer!" Xiao Wanqing shouted, then curled up like a rag doll that had been thrown away, her eyes reddening and tears streaming down her face.

"Wanqing, I'm sorry I'm late. Could you come down first?"

Gu Qingyan, afraid of upsetting her, gently advised her.

"I don't want to! I don't want to live anymore anyway!" Xiao Wanqing sobbed.

"Why?" Gu Qingyan patiently tried to persuade her, then suddenly remembered what happened tonight. "Is it because I left you at the venue?"

Upon hearing Gu Qingyan mention what happened tonight, Xiao Wanqing's suppressed humiliation surged back into her heart. She immediately moved further outside, letting her legs dangle in the air again, and shouted loudly, "You've never treated me like this before! You've always spoiled me and granted my every wish, but everything changed after we returned to the country this time."

She became even more agitated as she spoke, shouting and trying to stand up, "Why are you so good to Shen Zhi Qiu? What right does she have to compete with me!"

Gu Qingyan frowned. His throat was dry. He took a deep breath, and his slightly hoarse voice even began to tremble. "Wanqing, don't get agitated. It's all my fault. Please get down first, okay?"

“Yes! How could the young master treat you badly? Look how anxious he is. Miss Xiao, please come down first.” Zhang Ma patiently persuaded her from the side, afraid of upsetting her further.

"Then divorce her!" Xiao Wanqing looked up at Gu Qingyan and shouted.

Gu Qingyan raised his head and stared intently at the girl in front of him. Looking at her face, which was slightly distorted by jealousy, he suddenly realized that she was different from the little girl who used to follow him around as a child and call him "brother" in a sweet voice.

He didn't speak, his long eyelashes concealing the emotions in his eyes, and said with a hint of weariness and helplessness, "Wanqing, stop fooling around. Can you come down first?"

"Young Madam!" After Huang Lin finished clearing the area, he was closely watching the movements inside the room when he suddenly heard footsteps. He turned around and saw Shen Zhi Qiu standing about a meter away from him.

As soon as Shen Zhi Qiu reached the door, she heard the words, "Then divorce her."

Gu Qingyan had obviously heard Huang Lin's voice as well. He turned around stiffly and met Shen Zhi Qiu's slightly mocking gaze.

"What are you doing here?" Xiao Wanqing's face darkened, and she roared through gritted teeth.

“Miss Xiao, let me remind you, it’s past midnight. If you raise your voice any louder, the whole building will probably hear you threatening to jump off a building to force a man to divorce his wife. Don’t you feel ashamed?” Shen Zhi Qiu walked in, her voice soft but calm. “Although Gu Qing Yan has cleared the area for your sake, and I don’t think anyone will associate your current crazy state with that noble and beautiful painter, if you keep making noise, what if it causes another disturbance? Do you think someone else will come up here?”

After all, you made a scene in such a hurry that Gu Qingyan didn't have time to mobilize more people to maintain order.

Xiao Wanqing pursed her lips, her face as pale as paper, her eyes vacant as she pondered Shen Zhi Qiu's words. She noticed Gu Qingyan's eyes following Shen Zhi Qiu, and her resentment surged again. Her hands clenched tightly at her sides, knuckles white, and she spoke pitifully:

"Qingyan, I don't care. You promised before that you would always protect me and never let me suffer. You would agree to anything I asked. You clearly swore an oath to my brother..."

Xiao Wanqing covered her face in pain, tears streaming down her face through her fingers. Her voice sounded extremely sorrowful. Gu Qingyan's throat tightened, and he took a step forward, somewhat moved. When he noticed that Xiao Wanqing was lost in her grief, he rushed forward, hugged her tightly, and shouted, "Zhang Ma, help me quickly!"

Caught off guard, Xiao Wanqing cried and struggled after being lifted down, kicking her legs wildly and pounding on Gu Qingyan with her hands. Gu Qingyan lost his balance and fell backward with a muffled groan of pain, becoming Xiao Wanqing's human cushion. Zhang Ma tried to press down on Xiao Wanqing's legs, but failed several times.

Seeing this, Huang Lin, who was guarding the door, quickly ran over to help. After a flurry of activity, they finally managed to control Xiao Wanqing.

After a while, Xiao Wanqing stopped struggling, and her emotions gradually calmed down.

"Go call the doctor to stitch up the wound," Gu Qingyan said to Huang Lin as he sat up, holding her in his arms.

Huang Lin quickly turned and ran towards the nurses' station in the distance. Zhang Ma, busy getting some warm water to clean Xiao Wanqing, also hurried out.

Xiao Wanqing was kneeling on the ground, sobbing on Gu Qingyan's shoulder. The bloodstains on her wrists had already dried, but they started bleeding again because she was hitting Gu Qingyan. The blood stuck to Gu Qingyan's white shirt looked rather shocking.

Seeing Shen Zhi Qiu staring at her, Xiao Wan Qing sobbed as she got off Gu Qing Yan and held her wrist out to him. Blood was still seeping from the wound. "Qing Yan, it hurts so much. When I was little, you would blow on my wounds to help me when I got hurt."

Gu Qingyan didn't say much, but gently held her wrist and patiently blew on it again and again.

Xiao Wanqing looked at Shen Zhi Qiu with a defiant gaze, a smug, mocking smile spreading across her face, her mouth silently saying, "What can you do to me?"
