Rong Family Villa.
"Knock knock knock," came a knock at the door.
"Come in." Rong Hong coughed and slowly sat up straight, clutching his chest.
“Chairman Rong,” Yan Yan said as she walked in carrying a bowl of hot soup.
"Yan Yan?" Rong Hong was a little embarrassed and wanted to get out of bed. He thought it was Aunt Zhao who came to bring him medicine, but he didn't expect it to be Yan Yan who came in.
"Be careful, don't get down." Yan Yan quickly stepped forward and supported Rong Hong's arm.
Rong Hong awkwardly withdrew his hand and slowly moved his body back to sit down.
"You should be careful too. Your leg has just healed, so try not to walk too much. Otherwise, it might cause problems later. You can let Aunt Zhao take care of these things." Rong Hong sat leaning against the pillows, watching Yan Yan carefully place the soup on the bedside table, then pulled up a chair and sat down beside the bed.
"It's alright. I'm much better now." Yan Yan smiled at Rong Hong. "Aunt Zhao is busy taking care of the children. If I waited for her to finish before bringing it over, the soup would definitely be cold. So I brought it over first. Chairman Rong, please drink some while it's hot."
As she spoke, Yan Yan picked up the soup bowl and handed it to Rong Hong.
"Yan Yan, don't be so polite. We're all at home. You're practically a friend of Zhi Qiu and Rong Mo, so don't call me Chairman Rong. Just call me Uncle Rong." Rong Hong said with a smile as he took the soup bowl.
"Huh?" Yan Yan was taken aback for a moment, then smiled and said, "Okay, Uncle Rong. Then please don't be so polite with me. Zhi Qiu and President Rong are not home, and you are all alone. I should help take care of you."
"That really goes to your troubles." Rong Hong was still a little embarrassed and felt somewhat awkward. "Yan Yan, thank you."
"Uncle, please drink some while it's hot. It's very delicious. Aunt Zhao added some medicinal herbs, so it's very nourishing." Yan Yan said, leaning closer to point out the medicinal herbs inside to Rong Hong.
"Okay, okay." Rong Hong nodded and began to drink under Yan Yan's watchful gaze.
"It's delicious." Rong Hong took a sip, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes. "I didn't expect that nourishing medicinal cuisine could be made so delicious. It doesn't have a strong medicinal taste, it's very fresh and delicious."
"Uncle Rong, I'm glad you like it. As long as you like it, I can add some other medicinal dishes, which are all good tonics for your health. Aunt Zhao and I will make them for you in different ways."
"I promise, when Zhi Qiu comes back, you'll be perfectly fine and healthy."
"Thank you so much." Rong Hong felt better as he ate the delicious medicinal food, and he started talking more.
"By the way, Yan Yan, if you get bored all by yourself in the capital, you can come and visit Zhi Qiu whenever you have free time. You two are about the same age, and I think you get along well. You can visit each other more often in the future. That way, you can have someone to look after you."
"Thank you, Uncle Rong. You're so kind to me." Yan Yan's eyes reddened with emotion. She pursed her lips and didn't say much, but she still lowered her eyes, looking somewhat disappointed.
"What's wrong, Yan Yan?" Rong Hong put down the soup bowl, frowned with concern, and asked with care.
"It's nothing." Yan Yan's lips were pursed into a straight line, her fingers twirling.
"If you need any help, you can tell your uncle." Rong Hong looked at Yan Yan and felt a pang of heartache for no reason.
“If it’s not easy to talk to your uncle, you can talk to Zhi Qiu. It’s easier to communicate with people your age,” Rong Hong added, frowning slightly.
"It's alright, Uncle. It's just that very few people care about me like this." Yan Yan sighed, frowned slightly, pursed her lips, and looked up at Rong Hong, her eyes a little red.
Rong Hong was somewhat surprised, but he didn't ask too many questions. He just said with some heartache, "It must be very difficult for you to work hard in the capital all by yourself. It's not like being pampered by many people at home."
If you're unhappy at that postpartum care center, you can tell your uncle, and I'll have Rong Mo arrange a more relaxed and better job for you.
"No need, Uncle." Yan Yan waved her hand anxiously and explained, "Uncle, I didn't want anything from you. I was just sighing a bit. Please don't overthink it. If my words or actions have caused any misunderstanding, I will explain."
"It's alright, Yan Yan." Rong Hong smiled. "With you here, Zhi Qiu's health has visibly improved. Moreover, if it weren't for you, I might not have made it through. To be honest, you saved my life."
"Uncle, please don't say that. I just happened to be here, and anyone would have helped. I didn't do much to help, but I did cause you a lot of trouble," Yan Yan said modestly, pursing her lips.
"Alright, let's not be so formal." Rong Hong smiled and stopped Yan Yan from continuing. "If we keep talking, it'll just be endless polite conversation."
Since Zhi Qiu already considers you a friend, just stay here and wait until you're fully recovered.
"Okay, Uncle." Seeing this, Yan Yan no longer declined politely and accepted Rong Hong's suggestion with a smile.
Yan Yan looked at the sunlight outside the window and suggested, "Uncle, would you like to go out and sit in the garden? It's sunny now, and getting some sun will be good for your health and promote calcium absorption."
"Alright." Rong Hong was also somewhat tempted. He was indeed a bit tired of lying down and wanted to get up and move around. However, Aunt Zhao had previously told him not to go out, saying that Rong Mo had instructed him to stay in the room and rest properly. So, as soon as Yan Yan suggested going out, Rong Hong immediately agreed.
"Then let me help you down. Just be careful not to get too excited when you get out of bed." Yan Yan smiled and helped Rong Hong up from the bed, walking slowly towards the stairs.
The short two-story staircase seemed to take forever before Rong Hong finally reached the bottom.
Rong Hong looked around and, after confirming that Aunt Zhao was not on the first floor, headed towards the garden.
"What's wrong, Uncle Rong?" Yan Yan noticed Rong Hong's unusual behavior and asked, somewhat puzzled.
“Rong Mo specifically told Aunt Zhao not to let me go out and move around. He said the doctor told me to stay in the room and rest well, and he would decide whether or not to let me get out of bed after he came for a follow-up examination.”
"Huh?" Yan Yan frowned, feigning surprise. "Sorry, I didn't know. Well, let's go upstairs then, otherwise Mr. Rong might scold Aunt Zhao and me when he comes back."
"It's alright, I'm all down here. You don't know, this isn't your fault, I just wanted to come out and sit for a while. I'll take responsibility for anything, don't worry." Rong Hong looked at the rare beautiful sunshine outside and couldn't help but walk outside.
Yan Yan watched Rong Hong's retreating figure, and the corners of her mouth unconsciously turned up.
