Chapter 350 Rong Mo asks Lu Jia to investigate Yan Yan

Seeing Rong Mo's serious expression, Lu Jia quickly went over to him.

Rong Mo looked at Shen Zhi Qiu with concern, and after Lu Jia came out, he gently closed the door.

"What's wrong?" Lu Jia asked, puzzled. Looking at Rong Mo's expression, she sensed that something bad might have happened.

"Let's talk downstairs," Rong Mo said in a low voice, then pointed downstairs.

Lu Jia nodded and quickly followed.

"Aunt Zhao, could you please brew us a pot of Longjing tea?" Rong Mo said to Aunt Zhao, who was cooking in the kitchen.

"Okay, coming right away." Aunt Zhao hurriedly put down what she was doing and began preparing tea.

"Sit down." Rong Mo pointed to the sofa opposite, gesturing for Lu Jia to sit down.

"I have a very troublesome matter I'd like to trouble you with." Rong Mo bowed slightly, his brows furrowed with worry.

"What's wrong? I'll do my best to help if I can," Lu Jia replied immediately.

"I'll show you something." Rong Mo hesitated for a few seconds, then opened a video on his phone and handed it to Lu Jia.

The video footage was taken in a hospital ward.

Lu Jia looked at the empty ward with some confusion.

“Keep reading,” Rong Mo said.

A few seconds later, the door to the ward opened, and Yan Yan's voice came from the doorway.

"Thank you, Wei Qiao. I'll leave you here. I can go in by myself."

"I'd better take you in. Your legs aren't very strong, and I'm afraid you might fall if you walk in by yourself. I won't be able to explain that to President Rong." Wei Qiao's voice was hesitant.

"It's okay, I have a lot of girls' things inside, so it might be a little inconvenient for you to go in. I'm sorry," Yan Yan said apologetically.

Sure enough, this reason made it hard for Wei Qiao to insist any longer. "Okay, then be careful. I'll stand at the door for another ten minutes. If you need any help, please be sure to call me."

"Okay, definitely, thank you." As she spoke, Yan Yan's figure began to appear in the camera's view.

Yan Yan dragged her limping leg and slowly moved into the room, then closed the door in front of Wei Qiao.

The first few seconds were relatively normal, but Yan Yan slowly walked towards the hospital bed, looking very strained.

She was sitting on the hospital bed facing the camera, seemingly waiting quietly for something.

Lu Jia frowned, still somewhat confused. "You installed surveillance cameras in the hospital room?"

"Yes, I had Wei Qiao arrange for someone to install it while Yan Yan was out for her checkup. I wanted to find out exactly what was going on." Rong Mo said somewhat awkwardly, "I know I shouldn't have installed surveillance cameras here, but I really had no other choice."

"Yes, it's because of what Zhi Qiu said, right?" Lu Jia nodded in understanding. "If I were you, I would probably do the same. It's normal."

Yan Yan quietly held up the mirror and began to draw her eyebrows, each stroke full of charm. She carefully outlined her eyebrows, occasionally giving herself a gentle smile in the mirror, as if she were deliberately practicing her smile.

A short while later, she put the mirror down, then took out her phone and started a countdown, muttering, "Nineteen, eighteen, seventeen, six..."

As the countdown ended, Yan Yan naturally jumped out of bed and sat on the sofa by the window. She picked up a book from the table and leisurely began to read. Her movements were so light, as if she hadn't been injured at all.

"Isn't her leg injured and unable to walk properly?" Lu Jia frowned as he watched her jump down and appear perfectly normal.

"She's faking it?" Lu Jia continued to mutter incredulously.

"Yes, I suspect she staged her fall down the stairs to sow discord between Zhi Qiu and my dad. She wanted my dad to mistakenly believe that Zhi Qiu really pushed her down." Rong Mo clenched his fists, his heart filled with anger and resentment.

"What do you want me to do?" Lu Jia looked at Yan Yan on his phone and felt a chill run down his spine. Suddenly, he felt that this woman was a complete stranger.

"Keep watching." Rong Mo took the phone from Lu Jia, swiped a few times, and opened another video.

"This is the scene when my dad arrived less than ten minutes after she started reading." Rong Mo handed the phone to Lu Jia again, gesturing for him to continue reading.

Rong Hong pushed the door open naturally without knocking. He simply turned the doorknob and walked in.

Lu Jia sensed something was wrong and immediately looked up at Rong Mo. Rong Mo nodded helplessly. Lu Jia pursed her lips and continued reading.

Rong Hong walked in quickly, carrying a thermos and a large bag.

"Yan Yan, are you hungry? I brought some soup that Aunt Sun made, and some of your favorite fruit." The moment Rong Hong saw Yan Yan, a gentle smile immediately appeared on his face.

"It's alright, you came early, I'm not hungry yet." Yan Yan stretched lazily and replied with a smile, her voice very soft. Her smile was like the spring sunshine, warm and bright.

Rong Hong walked to Yan Yan's side, his eyes gentle. "The doctor said you're recovering very well, so you need to rest more. I brought you some of your favorite foods, so eat more to replenish your nutrition."

Yan Yan looked at Rong Hong gratefully and nodded. "Thank you, Brother Hong. I'm really touched that you always care about me so much."

"Brother Hong?" Lu Jia couldn't help but pause the video and exclaimed. Seeing that Rong Mo's face also looked terrible, she didn't say anything and continued watching.

Rong Hong smiled and sat down next to Yan Yan. "What are you talking about? Of course I care about you."

He opened the insulated container; inside was a bowl of steaming chicken soup, emitting an enticing aroma. "This chicken soup was specially made for you by Aunt Sun. She said you haven't been feeling well lately and need some nourishment. Try it, how does it taste?"

Yan Yan picked up the spoon, took a sip of chicken soup, her eyes lit up, and she exclaimed, "Wow, it smells so good! Aunt Sun's cooking is getting better and better!"

Rong Hong was happy to see that Yan Yan liked it. "I'm glad you like it. After you get better, I'll have Aunt Sun make soup for you every day."

"Thank you, Brother Hong." Yan Yan looked up at him with a bright smile.

Lu Jia's facial muscles twitched uncontrollably several times as he looked at Rong Mo in disbelief, "This, this..."

“I know something’s not right, which is why I wanted your help to thoroughly investigate Yan Yan’s background. I had Wei Qiao check her background before, and there were no problems, but I still don’t feel entirely at ease. I know you have the ability to do this, so I’d like to ask you to dig deeper into her background and see why she deliberately approached my father.” Rong Mo frowned.

“Zhi Qiu mentioned before that Yan Yan whispered in her ear that she would become the new mistress of the Rong family’s old mansion. Do you think it could be because of this?” Lu Jia asked tentatively.
