Chapter 459 Deliberately Approaching Gu Qingyan

Gu Qingyan's face was gloomy, his eyes flashing with anger, as if they were about to explode at any moment. He glared at Xiao Wanrou, his eyes filled with reproach and rage, as if he wanted to devour her.

"What are you doing here?" he roared, his voice filled with deep dissatisfaction and anger. He swept the black bedside lamp to the floor.

Xiao Wanrou was startled by him. She shrank back and explained in a weak voice, "Brother Qingyan, you were drunk last night, so I brought you up here to rest. Later, you kept calling Sister Wanqing's name, and I didn't know what to do. I was thinking of wiping your sweat and leaving, but you grabbed me and wouldn't let me go..." Her voice gradually faded, and she dared not look Gu Qingyan in the eye. Her voice was tinged with a sob.

Gu Qingyan looked at her pale shoulder exposed outside the blanket, a complex emotion flashing in his eyes. He recalled that last night, under the influence of alcohol, he seemed to see Xiao Wanqing's figure, and he vaguely remembered calling Xiao Wanqing's name. But the thought of her staying behind while he was drunk made him feel a surge of anger.

"Since you know I'm calling your sister's name, how could you do this?" he roared. "I see now. You took advantage of my feelings for your sister, deliberately approached me, and then took the opportunity to climb into my bed? What, you want to take your sister's place and become my wife, Gu Qingyan's wife?" His voice grew louder and louder, each word seeming to be squeezed out of his throat.

Xiao Wanrou was in tears. She whispered her explanation, "Brother Qingyan, you've misunderstood. I didn't mean to, I just..." Her voice choked, and she couldn't say anything more, wiping away her tears in grievance.

Seeing her crying, Gu Qingyan's anger subsided slightly. However, he was still filled with disgust for Xiao Wanrou. He said coldly, "You are not allowed to tell anyone about what happened last night. From now on, we are even." His eyes revealed deep disgust and indifference, as if Xiao Wanrou was just a dirty stain that needed to be erased from his life as soon as possible.

Xiao Wanrou didn't speak, covering her face with the blanket, feeling extremely humiliated and heartbroken.

Gu Qingyan quickly dressed, and his cold and arrogant demeanor returned to normal.

Just as he was about to turn and leave, he heard a soft whimper. The sound was like that of a wounded kitten, helpless and pitiful, which made Gu Qingyan stop in his tracks.

He frowned and glanced back at Xiao Wanrou, who was still lying on the bed. She was wrapped tightly in the blanket, her back to him, with only her small head showing. Tears streamed down her cheeks and dripped onto the pillow, forming a dark stain.

"Get up and put your clothes on first." Gu Qingyan tried to make her voice sound calm, but her tone still revealed obvious indifference and aloofness.

Xiao Wanrou didn't move. She seemed not to have heard his words. Her body was trembling slightly, revealing her inner sadness and vulnerability.

Gu Qingyan pursed his lips; he knew he couldn't leave like this. He walked to the bedside, looking at the trembling little figure under the covers, a strange emotion welling up inside him. He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself, and then said, "Turn around."

Xiao Wanrou slowly turned around, revealing a face streaked with tears. Her eyes were red and swollen, and she kept her head down, refusing to look at him.

Looking at her like this, Gu Qingyan couldn't help but feel a little irritated. He pressed his temples, which were a little tight, and asked with a headache, "What do you want? If you want money, name your price." His words revealed a sense of helplessness and exhaustion. To be honest, even if he hadn't been schemed against like this before, he had heard it quite often in his position.

Xiao Wanrou raised her head, her eyes blurry with tears, and looked at Gu Qingyan. Her voice choked with sobs: "Brother Qingyan, I didn't do it for the money. Last night, I... I was just afraid something would happen to you, I really didn't mean anything else. If you hadn't held me back and wouldn't let me leave, I..." Her voice was full of pleading, with a thick nasal tone.

Gu Qingyan looked at her, took a deep breath, and said coldly, "What happened last night has already happened. Now, I just want to know how you want to resolve this matter."

Xiao Wanrou bit her lip and whispered, "I...I don't know. I just hope you won't be angry and won't send me away." Her voice was filled with helplessness and fear.

Seeing her like this, Gu Qingyan realized he had been too harsh on Xiao Wanrou. He was silent for a moment, then said, "Go back first. I'll consider how to handle this matter." Although his tone was still cold, at least he didn't scold her anymore.

Upon hearing this, Xiao Wanrou felt a surge of hope. She knew that Gu Qingyan had softened his stance, which was undoubtedly good news for her. She quickly wiped away her tears and said obediently, "Thank you, Brother Qingyan."

Gu Qingyan turned around and heard the rustling sound of clothes being put on behind her.

"Brother Qingyan, let's go." Xiao Wanrou had already come to his side and gently tugged at his sleeve.

Gu Qingyan turned his head and glanced at her. He saw a fair and delicate arm, carefully clutching his black sleeve. The skin of that arm was so white it was almost translucent, with traces of tears still remaining. His gaze lingered on that arm for a moment, then he frowned.

Xiao Wanrou felt his gaze, and like a startled rabbit, she immediately let go of his hand. A trace of panic and unease flashed across her face. "I'm sorry, Brother Qingyan, I'm just a little scared." Her voice trembled, revealing her inner fear and anxiety.

"Was what happened last night arranged for you by Aunt Bai and Uncle Xiao?" Gu Qingyan asked coldly, his eyes revealing scrutiny and questioning.

"No, no," Xiao Wanrou quickly shook her head, "Last night, halfway through dinner, my aunt suddenly felt unwell. You know, ever since Wanqing's accident, she's had a chronic illness, so my uncle took her to the hospital. You can check if you don't believe me." Xiao Wanrou's voice was full of urgency and pleading.

"It had better be as you say!" Gu Qingyan was silent for a moment, his expression softening somewhat. He loosened his clenched fist and instructed, "Remember, don't say anything out of line after we get out." His voice was still cold, but it lacked the sternness of before.

"I understand, Brother Qingyan," Xiao Wanrou said obediently. "I won't say anything out of line, don't worry."
