"Wanqing." Lin Su's loving voice rang out in the quiet room. Xiao Wanqing, who had been lying down, seemed to be struck by lightning. She felt all the blood rush to her heart. She quickly threw off the covers and sat up, trying to get out of bed in a panic.
"Is it your friend who's here?" Gu Qingyan sensed something was off, closed her laptop, and asked with a frown.
"It seems so," Xiao Wanqing said in a trembling voice, trying to sound calm, but Gu Qingyan keenly noticed her slightly trembling legs under her loose hospital gown, and that her hands were clearly gripping the hem of her clothes tightly.
"Wanqing?" The person at the door heard a man's voice faintly coming from inside. He hesitated for a moment, then stopped at the doorway and didn't go any further. Worried that the nurse had taken him to the wrong room, he called out uncertainly again, "Wanqing, is that you?"
Xiao Wanqing's face turned bright red, and she couldn't utter a single word.
"Sorry, I must have gone to the wrong place. I'm sorry to have bothered you." Lin Su didn't hear a response and thought she must have made a mistake. After apologizing, she turned and walked away.
"Wait a minute." Gu Qingyan put the computer on the sofa, stood up, and seeing her strong reaction, called out towards the front door with some confusion, "Are you here to visit Xiao Wanqing?"
Upon hearing this, Lin Su was somewhat surprised. She took a few steps forward and replied somewhat urgently, "Yes, I came to see Xiao Wanqing. The nurse said she's in this ward."
"Then come in. Wanqing is indeed here." Gu Qingyan glanced at Xiao Wanqing's face, instinctively feeling that this person might be related to the child in her womb.
Lin Su was overjoyed and quickly went inside. When she saw Xiao Wanqing sitting on the bed, she couldn't contain her happiness and rushed over to hug her tightly. "Wanqing! You're really here! I've been looking for you so hard!"

"You still dare to talk! You left without saying goodbye, and I was almost going crazy looking for you! Luckily, a friend told me you went back to China and were recuperating here, so I rushed back. I was so worried! What happened to you? Are you feeling unwell?" Lin Su grabbed her arm and said anxiously, then looked her up and down to see if she was injured anywhere.
"Wanqing is pregnant, so she's resting here," Gu Qingyan said calmly, raising his eyes to carefully examine Lin Su's expression.
Xiao Wanqing's face turned deathly pale instantly. She looked at Gu Qingyan in disbelief and bit her lip tightly.
"Really? Wanqing, you're pregnant with our child?" Lin Su's eyes shone with boundless joy, her delicate face filled with surprise.
"Is it your child?" Gu Qingyan said calmly, his expression unchanged, but every word was like a knife piercing Xiao Wanqing's heart.
"Of course it's my child!" Lin Su glanced at Gu Qingyan with some displeasure. "I'm Wanqing's boyfriend. If the child isn't mine, whose is it?"
Feeling Xiao Wanqing's body stiffen even more, he gently touched the back of her slightly cold hand, then slowly sat down on the edge of the bed, leaned in and gently pulled the frozen Xiao Wanqing into his arms, whispering, "Is this why you left without saying goodbye? You know, I was frantic. Why didn't you tell me you were pregnant? Were you afraid I wouldn't take responsibility?"
Xiao Wanqing felt like dying at this moment. The incident happened too suddenly, and she hadn't even thought of an excuse. So she could only remain silent, her hands tightly gripping the bed sheet beside her legs.
Seeing that she didn't speak, Lin Su assumed he had guessed correctly, and a wave of heartache washed over him. He gently patted Xiao Wanqing's back, "Wanqing, don't worry. Although you've always felt that I'm younger than you, I will take responsibility. I will tell my parents as soon as possible, and then we will start preparing for the wedding."
"Cough cough cough," Gu Qingyan coughed inappropriately, and gestured with his chin to the opposite side of the sofa, indicating that Lin Su should come and sit down. "Come and talk."
"Okay." Lin Su hesitated for a moment, but looking at Gu Qingyan's imposing demeanor and the computer and clothes he had placed on the sofa, she figured that he must be Xiao Wanqing's elder who had come to take care of her, so she obediently sat down.
"Qingyan." Xiao Wanqing pursed her lips, wanting to say something, but seeing Gu Qingyan's raised eyebrows and cold expression, based on her understanding of him over the years, she knew this was a sign that he was in a bad mood, so she lowered her head and didn't continue.
"Are you Wanqing's brother?" Lin Su sat down and asked softly, still feeling a little uneasy. Although society is much more open now, he had never appeared since his girlfriend became pregnant before their marriage. Now, in front of her elders, he still lowered his stance.
Gu Qingyan glanced at him indifferently, slightly straightening the wrinkles in his white shirt. Only when Lin Su, nervous, kept glancing towards Xiao Wanqing did Gu Qingyan's face darken, and he said in a cold voice:
"Yes, you can think of it that way. How long have you been together? And how old are you?"
“Brother, we’ve been together for almost four years now.” Lin Su quickly replied, afraid that Gu Qingyan would think he was still young, and added, “Brother, don’t worry, I just look younger than I am. I’m 21 this year.”
Almost four years? Gu Qingyan glanced at Xiao Wanqing, frowned slightly, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes, and then continued calmly, "That means you've been together for quite a while. It seems your relationship has matured, so having a child is quite normal."
Lin Su felt a huge weight lifted from his heart. He hadn't expected Xiao Wanqing's brother to not make things too difficult for him. He instantly cheered, leaned forward, and said with a smile, "Brother, don't worry, Wanqing and I have a very good relationship. We agreed before that if we had a child, we would get married immediately. I also want to have a home with Wanqing."
"Hmm. It's fine." Gu Qingyan said unhurriedly.
"Hehe, brother, you agree? Then I'm relieved. I was so worried the whole way here. Wanqing left without saying goodbye, I was frantic. I was on tenterhooks the whole flight back to China, wondering why she suddenly left. Turns out it's because she's pregnant. Girls are always scared, I understand. I promise you, I will treat Wanqing well from now on!" Lin Su relaxed a little and started talking more.
"Lin Su, could you go buy me some hot porridge? I'm a little hungry," Xiao Wanqing suddenly said, interrupting him.
"Hungry? I'll go now, wait for me!" Lin Su said, immediately standing up and walking out, not forgetting to turn back and say, "I'll be back soon."
