Chapter 6: I've figured it out

Shen Zhi Qiu glanced at him, gave a cold laugh, and turned away, ignoring him completely.

Gu Qingyan threw back the covers, got out of bed, and went to the balcony to answer the phone. After hanging up, Gu Qingyan went to the wardrobe, grabbed a set of clothes at random, paused for a second in front of the bed, and said, "I'm going home for a bit, something urgent comes up."

Shen Zhi Qiu didn't reply to him at all.

She watched him open the door, walk out, and close it again, plunging the room back into darkness. She slammed her fist on the bed in frustration and muttered, "Bastard."

They're not even divorced yet, and they're already doing this so blatantly.

She even stayed by his side to keep him from worrying and maintained a facade of peace, and that's how he repaid her.

This marriage absolutely must be dissolved immediately!

That night, Shen Zhi Qiu tossed and turned, unable to sleep. She simply got up and stood on the balcony to get some fresh air.

She still remembers the first time she met her grandfather as his granddaughter-in-law after getting married.

She had long heard that her grandfather was a military officer in his youth, and even after retiring for many years, he still maintained the strict self-discipline of a soldier. Everyone in the Gu family villa was afraid of him, and they were extremely cautious in their words and actions in front of him.

Therefore, she was somewhat worried. Gu Qingyan brought her to his home to meet his grandfather, but they were called away by Xiao Wanqing with a phone call as soon as they arrived at the Gu family villa.

She was a little flustered at the time, and she held onto Gu Qingyan's hand tightly, begging him to stay with her inside for a while before leaving.

But Gu Qingyan simply said, "I have something urgent to attend to," and shook off her hand before leaving.

Shen Zhi Qiu walked into the villa with trepidation. Unexpectedly, when her grandfather heard that Gu Qing Yan had left her alone here because of Xiao Wan Qing, he was particularly distressed. He held her hand and comforted her gently, and even made a phone call on the spot to order Gu Qing Yan to come back immediately.

Grandpa said, "Zhiqiu, if Gu Qingyan bullies you in the future, come to Grandpa, and Grandpa will stand up for you!"

Shen Zhi Qiu was somewhat flattered; she hadn't expected her grandfather to treat her with such kindness.

However, Gu Qingyan kept a straight face after returning, and didn't say a word to Shen Zhi Qiu until she went to bed.

That night, after Shen Zhi Qiu finished taking a shower, she found Gu Qing Yan standing on the balcony, gazing into the distance in a daze.

She called his name softly, wanting him to come inside and sleep. But when Gu Qingyan heard her tell him to go to sleep, his face immediately darkened, and he said sternly, "What? Is this what you wanted?"

Shen Zhi Qiu was taken aback, somewhat puzzled: "What do you mean?"

“Grandpa just called me into his study to lecture me and told me to be nicer to you. Besides,” Gu Qingyan glanced back at her, “Grandpa wants us to have a child as soon as possible. Isn’t that why you asked Grandpa to call me back?”

Shen Zhi Qiu's face flushed red instantly, and she was speechless for a moment.

Seeing her like this, Gu Qingyan assumed she was embarrassed because he had seen through her. He snorted coldly and said, "You can continue to complain to Grandpa." After saying that, he walked away.

That night, Shen Zhi Qiu cried for a long, long time while hugging her pillow. Only then did she realize how difficult a marriage without love could be.

After crying herself to sleep, she opened the balcony door and went out for some fresh air.

Suddenly a strong wind blew up, and the howling wind interrupted Shen Zhi Qiu's thoughts.

She unconsciously touched her belly, "Babies, Mommy's going to sleep now. You two have to grow up well!"

Things are different now. She's a mother of twins now, and she can't be willful and stay up all night. She pulled the doorknob and walked to the bedside.

"Since we've already decided to divorce, we can't let someone who's not worth it cause us any more pain. Who can't live without whom?" Shen Zhi Qiu muttered to herself, touching her stomach.

Having thought it through, Shen Zhi Qiu slept soundly that night.

The next day, the nanny, Aunt Liu, came to call them downstairs for dinner.

Seeing that only Shen Zhi Qiu came downstairs, Grandpa frowned. "Girl, where's Qing Yan? Hasn't he gotten up yet?"

"Grandpa, he had to leave because of something at his company." Shen Zhi Qiu smiled and lied, not wanting her grandfather to worry.

"Impossible. I get up at five every morning to practice boxing in the yard, and I haven't seen Qingyan come out. Tell me honestly, did he not sleep here at all last night?" Grandpa was a little annoyed; this grandson really didn't give him any peace of mind.

Seeing that her lie had been exposed, Shen Zhi Qiu touched her hair somewhat awkwardly and sat down next to her grandfather.

"I'll call him right now." Grandpa picked up the phone on the table and prepared to make the call.

“Grandpa,” Shen Zhi Qiu gently pressed her grandfather’s hand and shook her head, “Don’t talk to him anymore, you know it’s no use.”

Grandpa looked at her, his eyes filled with unconcealed heartache: "Girl, I'm so sorry you had to suffer like this. I will talk to An about this. No matter what, I can't let you suffer like this forever."

Hearing that her grandfather was going to tell Gu Qingyan's father about it, Shen Zhi Qiu became anxious: "Grandpa, please don't tell Dad. Mom and Dad finally have a vacation to go out together for their wedding anniversary. I don't want them to worry. Can we talk about it when they get back from their vacation?"

Seeing how sensible Shen Zhi Qiu was, Grandpa felt even worse. He sighed, got up, and left the dining table.

Shen Zhi Qiu went upstairs to tidy up, then went to the garden to say goodbye to her grandfather.

"Grandpa, I'll head back now. I'll come see you again later," Shen Zhi Qiu said softly, maintaining a faint smile.

“Okay, I’ll have Uncle Zhang take you.” Grandpa nodded and added, “Girl, don’t ever make yourself suffer too much.”

Shen Zhi Qiu's expression shifted, then she nodded solemnly. She truly wouldn't suffer any longer; she was determined to get a divorce. She just couldn't tell her grandfather yet.
