Gu Qingyan's expression changed drastically. She exchanged a glance with Si Mingyu, and the two immediately ran towards the rooftop.
A number of medical staff had gathered on the rooftop, and security guards from downstairs had also come up.
"She pushed the person down?"
"Yes, when everyone rushed up there, she was the only one on the rooftop. Who else could it be but her?"
"Could it be suicide?"
"How could that be! That woman's son finally woke up, how could a mother abandon her son and run to the rooftop to commit suicide instead?"
"I heard from the ward on this side that the person who fell shouted 'Help!'"

Hearing the whispers around him, Gu Qingyan's heart sank, a bad premonition rising within him. Seeing the two bodyguards who had been guarding Xiao Wanqing's ward, he quickened his pace. Si Mingyu frowned, then joined Gu Qingyan as they pushed through the crowd and strode inside.
"Mr. Gu, Miss Xiao, she..." The bodyguard, despite his good training, couldn't help but feel a pang of anxiety when he saw Gu Qingyan arrive.
"Disperse the crowd first, let everyone go down," Gu Qingyan instructed in a low voice.
A moment later, only Xiao Wanqing, dressed in a hospital gown, remained on the edge of the rooftop, her back to them, on the dimly lit rooftop.
"Wanqing," Gu Qingyan called her name softly.
Xiao Wanqing turned around, smiled faintly, her gentle face was very calm, as if the matter had nothing to do with her, "Qingyan, you're here." Then she nodded gently to Si Mingyu, "Brother Mingyu, you're here too, it's been a long time since I've seen you."
"What exactly happened?" Seeing her so calm, Gu Qingyan couldn't help but feel relieved, thinking that it might not be what he had worried about.
"I just pushed Lin Su's mother down." Xiao Wanqing's eyes flickered, and a sly smile curved her lips.
Gu Qingyan gasped, staring intently at her face, speechless with shock for a long time.
Si Mingyu pursed his lips, his usually gentle face turning serious. He scrutinized Xiao Wanqing's face and asked, "Why?"
"Who does Lin Su's mother think she is? How dare she threaten me? I'll finally have some peace and quiet if she dies." Xiao Wanqing's resentment deepened as she recalled Wei Wei's words, her eyes filled with endless disgust. She smiled slightly. "Does she think I'm so eager to marry her son? To me, Lin Su is nothing more than a dog that obeys my every command. His whole family should be grateful that I agreed to marry him. I never expected his mother to dare to speak so sarcastically to me! Ha! She deserves to die!"
"Just because of this? Xiao Wanqing, are you crazy! Don't you know that murder leads to jail time?!" Gu Qingyan pursed his lips, his eyes cold, looking at her in disbelief, his expression utterly disappointed.
"Isn't that enough?!" Xiao Wanqing leaned against the rooftop railing, tilting her head back and laughing maniacally. "Qingyan, you used to protect me so much! You would never blame me for anything I did, so why are you blaming me now that you heard I pushed her off?! She forced me to do it!"
Gu Qingyan strode forward, his hands trembling as he gripped her shoulders tightly. Looking at her hopeless state, he shook her shoulders angrily: "Wanqing, do you know what you've done? Why have you become like this! Have you ever considered the consequences of your actions?! Even when you were being reckless before, you still had your limits! You're a grown woman, don't you understand the principle of 'a life for a life'?!"
"I killed people in Nancheng." Xiao Wanqing stopped laughing, leaned closer to Gu Qingyan, gently cupped his face in her hands, and said in a nonchalant tone.
Suddenly, she noticed the wound on Gu Qingyan's neck and asked in surprise, "How did you get hurt? Does it hurt?" As she spoke, she felt a pang of heartache and reached out to touch his wound.
Gu Qingyan froze on the spot, staring intently into Xiao Wanqing's eyes before taking her hand down from mid-air.
"Wanqing, how could you become like this? Do you think you can do whatever you want in Nancheng?!" Gu Qingyan was heartbroken. Where had that innocent and lovely little girl from her childhood gone?
"Anyway, no matter what I do, you'll help me sort it out, right?" Xiao Wanqing shrugged indifferently, took a step back, and then glanced at Si Mingyu. "The Gu family and the Si family are practically all-powerful in Nancheng. It's impossible that they can't handle this little thing, right?"
Besides, this happened at a hospital under the Gu Group. Isn't it simply a matter of the Gu family stating what they think? Who would question it? And besides, it wasn't some important person who died; they could just brush it off with a simple excuse.”
"Slap!" Gu Qingyan roared in fury, raising his hand and slapping Xiao Wanqing hard across the face, causing her cheek to snap to the side. The slap jolted her back to reality; she felt a sudden ringing in her ears and a sharp pain in her cheek. She touched the corner of her mouth, where a faint trace of blood oozed.
After a few seconds, she slowly turned her head and looked at Gu Qingyan in disbelief.
Xiao Wanqing bit her lip tightly, her eyes reddened, and tears rolled down her cheeks like broken beads.
"Qingyan, you, you hit me?" Xiao Wanqing's hair was disheveled, and her once beautiful face was covered with tears. She cried and covered her face with her hands, staggered back a few steps, and then burst into laughter as if she had gone mad.
"Hahahaha! You swore at my brother's grave that you would protect me and cherish me for the rest of your life. You lied to me after all, hahahahahaha!"
Suddenly, Xiao Wanqing's vision went black, her knees buckled and she knelt on the ground. It took her a long time to regain her senses, and then she lay on the ground in grief and wailed.
