Western suburbs villa.
Xiao Wanqing sat blankly on the sofa, with some wine bottles scattered haphazardly on the coffee table in front of her.
With a "click," the living room light was switched on.
The sudden light made Xiao Wanqing's eyes uncomfortable. She covered her face with her hands, frowned, and squinted at the newcomer through her fingers.
A pair of black leather shoes appeared at the entrance. Fu Jingran walked in, one hand in his pocket and a cigarette casually dangling from his other hand. He didn't say a word, slowly walked to the sofa, and sat down directly opposite Xiao Wanqing.
Xiao Wanqing glanced at him, bent down, grabbed a cigarette from the box on the table, lit it skillfully, held it between her slender fingers, and took a deep drag.
Fu Jingran raised an eyebrow, a hint of displeasure flashing across his face. "When did you start smoking? It's bad for your health."
Xiao Wanqing curled her lips in disdain, then picked up a bottle of red wine from the table, tilted her head back, and drank it down.
Fu Jingran didn't stop her, and just watched her drink.
"What are you doing here? Gu Qingyan finally remembered me. Did he send you to see me?" Xiao Wanqing's voice was a little hoarse.
She had already drunk a lot before Fu Jingran arrived, and was now clearly drunk. Her hands were trembling slightly and somewhat unresponsive, but she still forced herself to stay composed, her face expressionless.
“No. I contacted Huang Lin, and he told me that Lawyer Zhang arranged for you to stay here after you were released on bail.” Fu Jingran frowned as he looked at Xiao Wanqing’s slightly drunk face.
"That's true. How could Gu Qingyan possibly have me in his heart now?"
Xiao Wanqing chuckled self-deprecatingly, tilted her head and leaned against the sofa, her cheeks flushed, as she poured herself another drink.
"Xiao Wanqing, there's more than one man in this world than Gu Qingyan!" Fu Jingran suppressed his anger and advised.
“Oh, right, Lin Su won’t love me anymore either. He probably wishes he could kill me now.” Xiao Wanqing laughed sarcastically, then shrugged indifferently. “But I don’t care. I don’t love him anyway. His mother died because she deserved to die. Who told her to mess with me?”
As she spoke, she leaned back a little, found a comfortable position, and continued, "People are always attached to things they can't have, which is why they suffer."
I always thought Gu Qingyan loved me, and I loved him too. But I've thought a lot these past few days. Do you think I really love Gu Qingyan that much? Not necessarily. I just enjoy his kindness towards me. Besides, he deserves to be good to me! My brother died because of him; frankly, he owes my family a lifetime of debt! Everything he does for me is what he deserves!
Therefore, I may not love him, but he must love me and protect me!
But this time he disappointed me so much. All I did was kill someone in a moment of impulse, and he actually called the police to arrest me!
Moreover, I asked Huang Lin, and at this critical juncture, instead of staying in Nancheng to help me, he actually went to Rongcheng, thousands of miles away, to find that Shen Zhi Qiu.
Who does Shen Zhi Qiu think she is, to dare to compete with me?
Fu Jingran's expression changed, his anger dissipated, his eyes narrowed slightly, and suddenly a satisfied smile appeared on his face. He said in a hoarse voice, "Wanqing, I knew I wasn't wrong. We're a match made in heaven. We're both hopelessly crazy."
Xiao Wanqing paused, looking at him with some confusion.
Fu Jingran curled his lips into a smile, his gaze towards her filled with admiration. He casually lit a cigarette and laughed smugly, "Who do you think notified Lin Su and Xu Qingchuan?"
Shock, anger, grievance, and confusion appeared one after another on Xiao Wanqing's face. She let go uncontrollably, and the wine bottle fell onto the carpet. The red wine soaked into the beige carpet, looking shocking.
"Why?" She stared in disbelief at the smiling man before her, stammering as she asked. The three of them had practically grown up together, and even though she was closer to Gu Qingyan, Fu Jingran had no reason to do this to her.
"Because I like you, but I can't have you." Fu Jingran smiled even more broadly, feeling much relieved after saying it out loud.
"As long as Gu Qingyan is around, just pretend I'm invisible. In my eyes, you've always been like a proud and reserved little princess. I know you don't like me, and there's no way we can be together."
Later, when you went abroad and I found out about all the mess you made in country A, I suddenly realized that you were no longer that perfect little princess. I started making plans from that time on.
I know that only when you hit rock bottom will you be likely to look at me. Then we can naturally be together.
Hearing Fu Jingran's insane words, Xiao Wanqing tremblingly reached out and pointed at him, "You, you... you are simply unreasonable, you are a madman."
"Yeah, I admit it, I'm a madman. Sigh, I've been hiding this for so long, I can finally be myself." Fu Jingran casually stretched his legs out onto the coffee table, folded his hands behind his head, and comfortably adjusted his body.
Seeing his nonchalant attitude, Xiao Wanqing suddenly stood up, unable to bear it any longer, rushed up to him, and slapped him hard across the face.
Fu Jingran wasn't angry. He squinted at her angry eyes, raised his chin, and said with a smile, "Looks like you didn't hate her enough, didn't put in enough effort."
Xiao Wanqing laughed angrily, "If you want to go crazy, go crazy by yourself, don't fucking provoke me!" Then she slapped him hard with all her might before disgustedly grabbing a tissue from the coffee table and wiping her hands haphazardly.
The slap made Fu Jingran taste blood in his mouth. He twitched his lips and said, "Not bad, that was the right amount of force." He then licked his lips with the tip of his tongue, looking at her with amusement.
