Chapter 321 Rong Hong lends money to Yan Yan

Sitting in the glasshouse in the garden, Rong Hong sighed, "It's so much more comfortable to come out and breathe some fresh air."

"Uncle, have some hot tea. I've brewed some for you. Enjoying the sun and tea in winter is truly a pleasure." Yan Yan smiled as she placed the teapot and cups on the table in front of Rong Hong.

"Yan Yan, sit down too, take a good rest, don't tire yourself out." Rong Hong smiled and invited Yan Yan to sit opposite him.

Yan Yan sat down as instructed, poured Rong Hong a cup of hot tea, and then sat there somewhat awkwardly.

Rong Hong noticed her nervousness and said with a smile, "Yan Yan, you don't need to be so reserved here. Just make yourself at home."

Yan Yan gave him a grateful look and then nodded.

The two chatted casually for a while, and Rong Hong asked, "I've hardly ever heard you mention your family. How are your parents doing?"

Yan Yan's eyes dimmed when she heard his words, and she gently shook her head. "My mother is seriously ill and is currently hospitalized for conservative treatment."

She lowered her head and said somewhat forlornly, "It's a pity I haven't been home to see her in a long time."

Rong Hong looked at Yan Yan, a pang of sympathy welling up in his heart, but he was also somewhat surprised as to why Yan Yan hadn't gone home. So he tentatively asked, "Is your home far from the capital? Why haven't you come home for so long?"

Yan Yan pursed her lips, somewhat embarrassed, and said, "Mom's illness and hospitalization will cost a lot of money. Although my income is okay, it's still far from enough to cover the costs of the surgery and follow-up treatment..."

Yan Yan sighed as she spoke, "There are always all sorts of helpless situations."

Rong Hong felt a pang of pity seeing Yan Yan's forced composure, and a complex mix of emotions welled up inside him.

"Yan Yan, if it's just a matter of money, your uncle can help you," Rong Hong said tentatively, afraid of hurting Yan Yan's pride.

"No, no, Uncle, that's not what I meant." Yan Yan hurriedly waved her hand and refused repeatedly. "I'm not telling you this to ask you for money. Please don't misunderstand."

“I know, if you wanted to borrow money, you would have asked Rong Mo long ago.” Rong Hong looked at Yan Yan and explained with a smile, “You are a good girl, you have sacrificed so much for your mother. Look, it’s already not easy for you to work hard in the capital by yourself. You also take on part-time jobs for our family, and you have indeed helped our family a lot.”

So, your uncle made this suggestion not only to help you, but also to thank you.

"Thank you, Uncle." Yan Yan pursed her lips, still declining Rong Hong's offer. "If I ever need your help, I will definitely ask you. Don't worry."

"Alright. Then if you really need Uncle's help, please don't hesitate." Rong Hong couldn't insist any further and could only go along with Yan Yan's wishes.

Suddenly, Yan Yan's phone rang.

Yan Yan glanced down and immediately licked her lips nervously. Her face turned pale, as if she had been struck by lightning.

She tried to calm herself, but her heart was still filled with fear, as if the phone call was from a messenger from hell.

"What's wrong?" Rong Hong noticed that Yan Yan was acting strangely, frowned in confusion, put down his teacup, and asked with concern.

"It's okay, it's okay, I'll just take this call." Yan Yan stood up somewhat flusteredly and walked towards the outside of the glass room.

After confirming that Rong Hong couldn't possibly have overheard their conversation, Yan Yan finally mustered her courage and cautiously pressed the answer button. A man's voice came from the other end of the line, cold and ruthless. His tone was full of oppression and threat, sending chills down Yan Yan's spine.

"I've given you plenty of time. How's it going?" The man's voice was deep and hoarse, as if it came from the depths of the underworld. Every word he spoke was like a sharp knife, cutting directly into Yan Yan's heart.

“Let me tell you, my patience has its limits,” the man continued. “I’ve waited too long, and I don’t want to wait any longer. You have to get this done as soon as possible, or else, you know what will happen.” The man gave a cold laugh.

Yan Yan's body began to tremble; she felt like she couldn't breathe. She wanted to say something to explain, but her throat felt like it was blocked by something, and she couldn't make a sound.

"Why aren't you saying anything?" The man frowned, somewhat displeased. "Administer the medicine as soon as possible. Don't let me waste my time." His voice was filled with anger and disappointment. "I don't want to hear your excuses and delays anymore. I just want to see results."

"I understand, I'll do it as soon as possible," Yan Yan replied carefully, pursing her lips.

"Hurry up." With that, the man coldly hung up the phone.

Yan Yan's phone screen displayed "Call Ended," but her mind was still reeling from the conversation. She felt completely controlled by this man, unable to break free. She knew she had to act quickly, or she would surely suffer a terrible fate.

Yan Yan took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down, before walking towards the glass room.

"What's wrong?" As soon as Yan Yan walked in, she saw Rong Hong looking at her with concern.

"It was a call from the hospital," Yan Yan lied without batting an eye. "My mom might not be feeling too well lately."

Yan Yan's voice was choked with sobs, her eyes lowered, her face filled with sorrow.

"Does the surgery need to be done as soon as possible?" Rong Hong sat up straight and asked with a serious expression.

"Mmm." Yan Yan's voice was low and muffled.

"Yan Yan, think about what your uncle just told you." Rong Hong leaned forward. "Uncle won't rush you to pay back the money. Your mother's surgery is the priority. Don't delay when you're sick, or it can easily lead to serious problems."

Yan Yan pursed her lips, her eyes slightly red as she looked at Rong Hong and nodded. "Thank you, Uncle. I will pay you back as soon as possible."

"That's a lot." Rong Hong breathed a sigh of relief for some reason. This was the first time he had ever advised someone to lend money.

"How much will it cost for Mom's surgery?" Rong Hong asked patiently.

"Including subsequent treatment, it will probably cost around 800,000." Yan Yan clenched her hands nervously, not daring to look at Rong Hong, as if afraid that he would change his mind after hearing the amount.

"Send me the card number." Rong Hong's expression remained unchanged as he handed the phone to Yan Yan. "Enter the card number into it."

Yan Yan suddenly looked up. "Are you really willing to lend it to me?"

"Type it in," Rong Hong nodded and urged.
