Shen Zhi Qiu quietly entered her grandmother's room and saw that her grandmother was already fast asleep.
She smiled, stepped forward, and carefully tucked the blanket around her grandmother, afraid of waking her. Looking at her grandmother's kind face, Shen Zhi Qiu felt a surge of warmth in her heart.
She slowly left the room and gently closed the door. Standing outside, she looked out the window through the glass. Lu Jia was playing basketball with Lu Xiaoyu on the basketball court to the right of the garden, both of them smiling.
Shen Zhi Qiu couldn't help but smile.
These days are wonderful, so blissful.
She walked towards the living room with a smile.
Rong Mo was sitting upright in the living room with his back to Shen Zhi Qiu. Hearing footsteps, he turned his head to look at Shen Zhi Qiu and gestured for her to sit down. Shen Zhi Qiu smiled and sat down opposite Rong Mo.
Rong Mo got up and poured her a cup of hot tea, saying, "Try this Pu'er tea; it's good for your stomach."
Shen Zhi Qiu gently picked up the teacup, smelled the aroma of the Pu'er tea, and slowly savored the hot tea, feeling Rong Mo's care and love for her.
She put down her teacup, looked up, and smiled at Rong Mo, saying, "Thank you, brother. It smells wonderful; I really like it."
Rong Mo looked at Shen Zhi Qiu and said gently, "I'm glad you like it." He paused, then asked, "Is Grandma asleep yet?"
Shen Zhi Qiu nodded and said, "Yes, Grandma is already fast asleep. I was worried that she might have trouble sleeping in a new bed, but thankfully, she's sleeping soundly."
Rong Mo breathed a sigh of relief and said, "That's good." He looked at Shen Zhi Qiu, but couldn't help frowning. He added, "You seem to have lost weight these past few days. Take care of yourself and don't worry your brother and father."
Shen Zhi Qiu pursed her lips. "Okay, brother, don't worry. I'll gain weight back when I get back. You know I really like Aunt Zhao's cooking."
Rong Mo then smiled and said, "Then let Aunt Zhao make you more to nourish your body."
After speaking, Rong Mo looked around, a hint of worry in his eyes.
"What's wrong, brother? Nobody's here, and Xiao Ran is on the third floor. You can just say what's on your mind." Shen Zhi Qiu felt that Rong Mo was having some things to say but couldn't say them directly, so she moved closer and lowered her voice.
"I've been observing Yan Yan's situation that you told me about before you left." Rong Mo lowered his voice and said softly, "I can't quite put my finger on what's wrong, but it really seems a bit abnormal."
"What's wrong?" Shen Zhi Qiu pursed her lips. "What made you feel that way?"
“Actually, I can’t really say. When Dad had a heart attack because of Gu Qingyan, it was thanks to Yan Yan’s timely treatment that he was able to avoid the consequences.” Rong Mo frowned. “But since then, Dad seems to have taken extra care of Yan Yan, even,” Rong Mo hesitated, then paused, “even to the point of being somewhat dependent on her.”
"Hmm?" Shen Zhi Qiu looked at him in confusion, gesturing for him to continue.
“I specifically instructed them beforehand not to let Dad come downstairs, because the doctor advised him to stay in bed and rest in the early stages. But when I wasn’t home, Yan Yan let Dad come downstairs and sit in the garden to drink tea. As a result, Dad felt unwell again, and Wei Qiao said he even accidentally knocked over the tea set.” Rong Mo’s tone was full of worry and reproach. He frowned as he spoke.
"The tea set was knocked over?" Shen Zhi Qiu keenly sensed something was amiss, and she lowered her head in thought. Suddenly, a thought flashed through her mind that made her uneasy. But then, she shook her head, thinking it couldn't be that serious, that she was definitely overthinking it. She said, "I'm probably overthinking it."
“Dad’s health should be fine, but he looks very weak, and he’s getting weaker every day.” Rong Mo didn’t notice Shen Zhi Qiu’s reaction and continued to speak with a worried frown.
"Tell me," Shen Zhi Qiu looked up at Rong Mo with a serious expression and asked, "Could it be that Yan Yan drugged Dad?"
"What?" Rong Mo looked at Shen Zhi Qiu in disbelief.
Shen Zhi Qiu nodded and said, "I also hope that I'm overthinking it, and maybe it's just a coincidence. Without evidence, I shouldn't speculate about Yan Yan like this."
Rong Mo fell into deep thought, having also noticed Yan Yan's recent changes.
She seemed to be particularly kind to Rong Hong, and several times suggested that Rong Hong be sent to the hospital to stay, so that if any problems arose, his treatment would not be delayed.
When Rong Hong was initially hesitant, Yan Yan volunteered, saying she knew medical knowledge and could take good care of him. Rong Hong didn't like staying in the hospital anyway, so he immediately agreed, saying he would stay at home and if he was worried, Yan Yan and the doctor could help look after him.
Although Rong Mo was not entirely satisfied, he couldn't say anything more.
"Do you think Yan Yan might really have a problem?" Shen Zhi Qiu whispered, a hint of fear flashing in her eyes.
Rong Mo's heart sank, and he immediately called Wei Qiao.
Wei Qiao, who had arranged bodyguards at the door, rushed in immediately after receiving the call.
"Mr. Rong, you wanted to see me?"
"Yes, you happened to run into my dad and Yan Yan having tea in the garden when you got home that day, right?" Rong Mo asked coldly, his brows furrowed.
"Yes, but I didn't see any tea because the tea set was all broken," Wei Qiao answered honestly.
"Do you remember where the tea set was knocked over?" Shen Zhi Qiu pressed.
Wei Qiao was a little confused, but still nodded. "I remember the general location, but not exactly."
"Go there yourself tomorrow and see if you can collect samples from that patch of grass for testing," Rong Mo instructed in a low voice. "But remember, you must do this alone, and absolutely no one else can know about it."
Wei Qiao was somewhat shocked and puzzled.
“I’ll find a way to take everyone out together tomorrow,” Rong Mo added. “To avoid arousing suspicion, have someone trim all the lawns in the garden tomorrow. If anyone asks, just say it’s routine trimming, and don’t let anyone think anything of it.”
"Okay, Mr. Rong, I understand." Wei Qiao nodded solemnly and then walked out.
"Zhiqiu, let's not speculate wildly. Let's wait for Wei Qiao's test results before making any decisions," Rong Mo comforted her.
Shen Zhi Qiu nodded and said, "Alright, I hope it's all just my imagination."
Rong Mo looked at Shen Zhi Qiu, her eyes filled with exhaustion and helplessness. He knew that she had already devoted too much energy to taking care of her grandmother during this time.
He stood up, gently patted Shen Zhi Qiu's shoulder, and said tenderly, "Are you tired? Why don't I accompany you upstairs and give you a good rest?"
Just as Shen Zhi Qiu stood up, she heard the sound of the front door being opened.
