Chapter 17 "We all use the same laundry detergent."

"Lin Che, have you forgotten what I told you to go home?" Lin Che answered Lin Zhenbang's call, and the other party's roar made her eardrums vibrate.

Aunt Qu, who was pouring water at the side, heard this and looked at Lin Che's face with an embarrassed expression. Seeing that he was calm and composed, she responded with a gentle smile.

Aunt Qu silently opened her mouth and gestured to Lin Che to drink quickly.

"I'm busy." Lin Che took a sip of the freshly brewed Longjing jasmine tea on the table before speaking slowly.

"Have you grown too powerful? Don't forget your mother is still in the hospital waiting for money from me!!"

"What are you trying to break?" Lin Che said with a sneer as he placed the cup on the table.

"Believe it or not, I'm going to cut off your mother's medicine today. With your meager salary, your mother will be dead in three days."

Lin Che was not surprised at all to hear such cold words coming from a man like Lin Zhenbang. She just felt sorry for his love-brained mother whose life was ruined by him.

Outside the window, the autumn rain pattered, scattering the sycamore leaves in the courtyard. He glanced at the freshly brewed Longjing jasmine tea on the coffee table. The tea was clear, with a few jasmine flowers floating in the cup.

His voice was like ice water. "Not today. I'm free tomorrow afternoon."

There was a crisp sound of glass breaking from the other end of the phone.

"Don't act so arrogant! Your mother's medical expenses this month—"

"I told you, tomorrow afternoon." Lin Che suddenly raised his voice, startling Aunt Qu, who was arranging the fruit plate, so much so that her hands trembled. He immediately gave her an apologetic look, forcing a reassuring smile.

Aunt Qu gestured with the teacup worriedly. Lin Che shook his head and mouthed "It's okay."

Lin Zhenbang's breathing on the phone was as heavy as an old bellows. "Okay, tomorrow at three o'clock, if you're even a second late, I'll stop giving your mother that special medicine."

The call ended abruptly.

Lin Che stared at the black screen until footsteps were heard behind him.

"It rained last night and the weather is a bit cold, remember to put on a coat." Lu Yu behind him was wearing a half-high collar white sweater with a short black leather jacket on the outside. Unlike his usual noble and aloof suit, it created a sense of distance.

"good."

"Remember that we have to go back to the old house for lunch today?" Lu Yu reached out and touched the soft hair on Lin Che's head, which felt very good.

"Remember." Lin Che put away his phone. When he turned around, Lu Yu's hand slipped from his hair, but he naturally straightened his collar halfway.

This action was too intimate, and Lin Che subconsciously held his breath.

.......

The Lu family's old house is located in a quiet villa area in the east of the city. The Chinese-style courtyard with red bricks and green tiles is surrounded by carefully trimmed green plants.

The rain from last night was still condensing on the lawn. The scent of plants mixed with the natural smell of the land penetrated his nostrils. Lin Che took a deep breath and felt his whole body relaxed from head to toe.

"The natural environment here is better. If you like, you can come here often on weekends." Lu Yu got out of the car and naturally took Lin Che's hand and walked inside.

A furry little cannonball rushed out from the door and hugged his legs accurately, "Uncle Che! I saved the biggest crab for you!"

Lu Yu'an tilted her rosy little face upwards, her eyes shining like stars.

Lin Che bent down and rubbed his head. "Long time no see, An An."

Lu Yu watched the hand he was holding fall onto Lu Yu'an's head and smiled helplessly.

"Uncle Che, can you hold me?" Lu Yu'an said in a baby voice, looking up at Lin Che eagerly.

"Lu Yu'an, how old are you? Don't you have long legs?" Lu Jinshu folded his arms across his chest, chewing a lollipop in his mouth, and looked down at his own son who was acting coquettishly and cutely and said to him.

"It's okay, all babies need to be held, right?" Lin Che gently held Lu Yu'an in his arms, touched his forehead with Lu Yu'an's and said gently.

"Doctor Lin, long time no see." Lu Jinshu and Lu Yu have completely different temperaments. Every time he saw Lu Jinshu before, he couldn't help but wonder why Lu Yu always looked unapproachable and distant, while Lu Jinshu was completely different.

Enthusiastic and generous.

"Long time no see." Lin Che held Lu Yu'an in his arms as they walked along the rain-soaked red bricks. Standing beside them, Lu Yu simply gazed at Lin Che's gentle profile, patiently answering every one of Lu Yu'an's questions.

The black hair on his forehead was blown by the breeze, and his long eyelashes could not cover his gentle and affectionate black eyes.

Lu Jinshu just followed beside him, biting a lollipop, watching her brother staring at Lin Che, and secretly laughing along with him.

"I say, can you please be more restrained?" Lu Jinshu really couldn't bear to watch it anymore, so she quietly pulled the hem of Lu Yu's clothes from behind and spoke quietly in a voice that both of them could hear.

"Your eyes are almost glued to me! You should be more promising, my brother!" Lu Jinshu continued with a look of disappointment.

"Then why don't you take your son away if you know that?" Lu Yu replied in a low voice, but his eyes were still glued to Lin Che's back as he held Lu Yu'an.

Lin Che was wearing a light grey sweater today, which made his complexion look like jade. The sunlight filtered through the gaps between the leaves, casting mottled shadows on his body, making his entire body seem to be coated with a layer of soft gold.

Lu Jinshu rolled his eyes, "What a success!"

She took two quick steps and reached out to pick up Lu Yu'an, "An'an, come to mommy."

"don't want!"

Lu Yu'an immediately hugged Lin Che's neck tightly like an octopus, buried his face in Lin Che's chest, and said aggrievedly: "I want Uncle Che to hug me!"

"Huh? Uncle Che, why do you smell so much like my uncle?" Lu Yu'an raised his fair little face and looked at Lin Che eagerly and asked.

Lin Che's footsteps suddenly stopped, and the tip of his ear instantly turned a thin layer of red. He subconsciously looked at Lu Yu.

"because..."

Lin Che cleared her throat and gently pinched Lu Yu'an's cheek. "We both use the same laundry detergent."

The skin under the sweater seemed to still retain the warmth of Lu Yu's embrace last night.

"Lu Yu'an!"

Lu Jinshu grabbed his son and covered his mouth with his hand, blushing. "If you keep talking nonsense, you won't be allowed to watch cartoons tonight!"

"Uncle, shame on you!"

Lu Yuan squeezed out a sound from between his mother's fingers, "Stealing Uncle Che's—Ugh!"

Lu Jinshu quickly stuffed a candy into his son's mouth and turned to Lin Che with a dry laugh: "Children's words are innocent, children's words are innocent..."
