Chapter 98 "Do you like Lu Yu?"

Chapter 98 "Do you like Lu Yu?"

Lin Che propped himself up on his knees, his chest heaving violently. Sweat soaked his temples, and a few strands of wet hair stuck to his pale forehead. Beads of sweat rolled down his taut jawline and landed on the expensive yet messy carpet.

He smashed and overturned everything in the room, leaving the air filled with a pungent smell of powdered porcelain, torn fabric, and overturned incense.

Everything was dead silent. The only sound in the room was his own heavy breathing.

From the moment Lin Che regained consciousness in this room, the two men standing by the door hadn't even raised their eyelids, turning a blind eye to the violent destruction in the room.

The woman dressed in servant's clothes, who always kept her head down and looked submissive, just stood quietly in the shadow of the corner, ignoring all of Lin Che's actions.

A huge feeling of powerlessness crawled up his sweaty back, almost swallowing Lin Che.

He staggered back a few steps, his back banging against the cold wall. He barely managed to hold his exhausted body together and slid down to a sitting position. The floor was icy cold, causing him to shiver slightly. He bent one leg, resting his elbow on it, and buried his face in his palms. The mixed smell of sweat, dust, and blood filled his nostrils.

The fatigue was overwhelming.

Time crawls by minute by second in the dead silence, and every second is a grind to the nerves.

“Click.”

A very slight sound of the lock tongue popping open was heard in the messy room.

Lin Che's body, buried in his palms, tensed instantly, but he didn't look up immediately.

Steady footsteps trod across the messy ground, stopping not far in front of him. The tips of expensive leather shoes appeared at the edge of his lowered vision, spotless, forming a stark contrast with the surrounding chaos.

The air seemed to freeze.

Lin Che slowly raised his head. Sweat blurred his vision, and the light and shadows before him were shaky. He blinked hard, the salty sweat stinging the corners of his eyes. Finally, his vision cleared.

It’s Lu Chi.

He wore a nervous smile that was a mixture of excitement and distortion, and his eyes were frighteningly bright. There was no warmth in that smile, only a scalp-numbing, crazy pleasure of having gotten what he wanted.

Lu Chi walked in step by step, his expensive leather shoes making a teeth-grinding squeaking sound as he stepped on the messy debris on the ground.

His eyes greedily scanned the traces of destruction caused by Lin Che in the room, and then fell back on Lin Che's sweat-soaked and disheveled figure. His smile widened, revealing his white teeth.

“Tsk tsk tsk…”

Lu Chi shook his head, his voice echoing in the empty room. "Look, look at our Doctor Lin. When he gets angry...it's really pretty to watch."

He stopped two steps in front of Lin Che, tilting his head, but his eyes were like the tongue of a poisonous snake, licking every inch of Lin Che's embarrassment.

"Tired of smashing? Huh?" He stretched out his finger, as if trying to touch Lin Che's sweaty chin, his action frivolous and full of malicious aggression.

Lin Che jerked his head away, his gaze landing on the back of Lu Chi's left hand, where a fresh, charred, and ugly circular burn scar was clearly visible.

"It's you."

He understood everything.

Jiang Tingyun's unusual calmness, his untimely neatness, the complexity that flashed across the depths of his eyes... all the incongruities found their source at this moment!

Jiang Tingyun, who seemed to be in control of everything and was cold, hard and strong, turned out to be this madman in front of him!

"Of course it's me!" Lu Chi laughed nervously, his shoulders shaking, as if he had heard something extremely pleasant. "What else? Do you think that loser Jiang Tingyun really has the courage and ability to touch the person dear to my brother?" The contempt and mockery in his tone were not concealed at all.

He took another step forward, and the indescribable sinister aura on his body hit Lin Che in the face, almost suffocating her.

"I have all the Jiang family's dirty laundry, all the dirty evidence against him." Lu Chi lowered his voice, carrying the sticky malice of sharing a secret, as he leaned close to Lin Che's ear. "If I tell him to go east, he won't dare go west. If I tell him to tie you up, he'll have to bite you like an obedient dog... Even if he's reluctant and afraid that my brother will tear him apart and feed him to the fish, he has to go!"

He stood up, admiring the shock and deeper coldness surging in Lin Che's eyes. He licked his cracked lips with satisfaction, the madness in his eyes almost overflowing.

"It's all right now," Lu Chi spread his hands as if showing off a perfect work of art, his eyes sweeping across the luxurious, cage-like room, "Get out of here, you troublesome bastards. No one will bother us anymore."

His gaze refocused on Lin Che's face. "Brother protects you so well, like a rare treasure... He won't let anyone touch even a hair of yours."

Lu Chi's voice suddenly dropped to a low note, filled with a sickly murmur and deep-seated jealousy. "But the more he acts like this, the more I want to see... what this treasure would look like if it were covered in dust, or even... broken into pieces?"

He reached out his hand, and his cold fingertips suddenly pinched Lin Che's jaw, forcing him to raise his head.

“Guess what,” Lu Chi leaned in close, his breath spraying on Lin Che’s face. Lin Che’s cold and angry expression was reflected in his crazed eyes, and his voice was like a venomous snake spitting out its tongue. “If he knew you were in my hands now, that I had touched you… would he go crazy?”

Lin Che's jaw was pinched so hard that it hurt, and she was forced to look up at Lu Chi's face, which was distorted by madness and excitement.

Extreme anger and a cold feeling of nausea collided violently in his chest, almost bursting through his throat.

He looked at the naked, disgusting obsession and desire for destruction in Lu Chi's eyes, and at his face, which bore some resemblance to Lu Yu but now resembled a demon from hell...

“Ugh… Ugh—!”

Unable to suppress the intense physiological nausea any longer, Lin Che jerked his head sideways and retched at the carpet at Lu Chi's feet.

The stomach was empty, only the sour bile rushed up the throat and burned the esophagus, bringing waves of spasmodic pain and embarrassing coughing.

"you--!"

Lu Chi's grip on Lin Che's jaw suddenly tightened, the force so strong it nearly shattered his bones. The madness in his eyes was instantly replaced by a sinister rage, like a venomous snake whose tail had been stepped on, raising its deadly fangs.

At this tense moment,

"Mr. Lu."

Jiang Tingyun came back at some point.

He was still standing at the intersection of light and shadow at the door, his dark gray suit straight and his face regained its calmness.

Jiang Tingyun was holding a tray with a glass of water and a small dish of pills on it. His gaze calmly passed over the mess in the room and fell on the furious Lu Chi and the painfully retching Lin Che.

"He looks very uncomfortable." Jiang Tingyun's voice was flat, his eyes sweeping over Lin Che's pale, sweaty face and painfully furrowed brows. "Severe emotional fluctuations and dehydration could lead to serious consequences. Let's stabilize him first."

He walked in calmly, carrying a tray. He ignored Lu Chi's murderous gaze and walked straight to the other side of Lin Che, placing the tray on the only relatively intact low table next to him.

Lu Chi stared at Jiang Tingyun intently, and the hand that was pinching Lin Che's jaw trembled slightly because of extreme anger.

He forced a twisted and malicious smile onto his face and took a step forward, his shadow completely covering Lin Che, who was leaning against the wall. "Lin Che, listen to me. Don't have any unnecessary fantasies. Cooperate obediently and suffer less. We..."

"You like Lu Yu, right?"

Lin Che's hoarse voice suddenly interrupted Lu Chi's threatening words. He was still leaning against the wall with a pale face. The black hair on his forehead was soaked with sweat and stuck to his skin. His lips were chapped from retching and lack of water.

But at this moment, his eyes, those eyes that were always clear and gentle, were now surprisingly bright, penetrating all of Lu Chi's madness and disguise, and piercing straight into the deepest, dirtiest, and most unbearable corner of his soul.

Lu Chi suddenly stopped all his movements, and the step he was about to take froze in mid-air.

He looked into Lin Cheliang's astonished eyes. A huge panic and shame of being completely stripped naked and exposed in broad daylight, like an ice-cold poisonous snake, instantly wrapped around his heart and suffocated him!

“You…what the hell are you talking about?!” Lu Chi’s voice suddenly rose in pitch, becoming shrill and out of tune. He sprang back like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, his finger pointing at Lin Che trembling violently. “Lin Che! Are you looking for death?!”

"I was right?" Lin Che's voice was still hoarse. He ignored Lu Chi's rage and scolding, and closely watched every subtle change in Lu Chi's expression. "Everything you did, kidnapping me, using Jiang Tingyun... was because of Lu Yu."

"It's because he never had you in his eyes. Even..." Lin Che paused for a moment, then clearly uttered the most fatal sentence Lu Yu had given Lu Chi, "He never even...thought about you."

"Shut up!!!"
