Chapter 89 Burial Ground

Chapter 89 Burial Ground

In order to sabotage his arch-rival Gaddon, Maitai originally planned to stage a hijacking of an American merchant ship and frame Gaddon for the crime.

However, Catbeard cautiously raised a question: "This plan is unlikely to be easy to implement. Not to mention the risks involved in hijacking a ship, the disguise as an enemy could be exposed. More importantly, the woman Mr. Lig brought is a CIA mole. If the CIA finds out that woman is in our hands, it could backfire!"

Although Mai Tai had only known Cat Beard for a short time, he already considered him a confidant. Therefore, Cat Beard's words forced Mai Tai to reconsider his strategy.

"Cat Whiskers is right. But Gaddon is arrogant and has the numbers now. That brat's got too big for his britches and wants to take the lead. If we have a direct confrontation, we'll probably suffer! We've already lost the game, and a few of our underlings have been detained by the police there... Humph! Gaddon dares to openly provoke us. How can I swallow this?"

“Lord Ap, Geddon is utterly despicable, and we certainly cannot let this go unpunished. But we must use a clever method to lure Geddon into a trap.”

"Oh? What kind of method is it?" Mai Tai leaned forward and asked.

Cat Whiskers feigned a troubled expression and said, "There are actually many solutions, but I don't know if Lord Ap can set aside his pride for those young brothers who have been detained."

"I'm a man of great loyalty! As long as there's a way to release them and teach Geddon a lesson, what does a little face matter?"

Catwhisker was overjoyed and praised Mai Tai for his loyalty and righteousness. He then said, "The plan isn't difficult. You just need to admit defeat to Gatton, saying that we were in the wrong during the last match, and ask for the release of the few underlings detained by the police. You should also suggest that we play another fair and just match to strengthen our friendship. To show your sincerity in apologizing, you're willing to offer Gatton a generous gift. In this way, the hot-blooded young Gatton will think he has already won a great victory and certainly won't suspect anything."

Maitai frowned, thought for a long time, and asked, "I understand the plan, but it seems like I'm the one who's at a disadvantage. Although my men were rescued, didn't Gaton get a lot of benefits for nothing?"

Catwhisker smirked: "Lord Apoo, what gift do you plan to give Gardon as an apology? Or rather, what kind of gift would attract the CIA?"

Hearing this, Mai Tai's brows relaxed as he suddenly realized, "Ah, I understand what you mean! You want me to give that woman to Gardon as a honey trap so she can inform on us to the CIA? But what if that woman betrays us?"

Catwhisker confidently replied, “Lord Ap doesn’t need to worry about this. When the CIA arrives, they’ll find their mole is with Gaddon, which has nothing to do with us. Besides, the roads here are complicated, and I doubt that woman even remembers how to get there. She’ll just have to return empty-handed. Also, I have something on that woman. If she dares to betray us, her brother will be dead. Just that alone will make her think twice before doing anything! Moreover, we’re not only sending women to Gaddon, but we can also send some trafficked people and illegal drugs along with them. When the CIA investigates, they’ll catch them red-handed. Wouldn’t that be wonderful?”

Mai Tai praised him repeatedly and immediately decided to do as Cat Beard suggested!

Bourbon heard some rumors about the matter and went to Maitai to ask him, "Lord Ap, I heard you're going to send Kiel away?"

“Mr. Lig said before that he would hand over the woman to me to deal with, and this was a unanimous decision within our organization.”

Bourbon feigned utter incomprehension: "Lord Ap, this woman is the culprit behind your brother's murder. Yet you intend to spare her life?!"

Mai Tai replied unhappily, "I haven't let her off the hook! This was just a plan, and she will receive the punishment she deserves."

"Really? I'd like to hear what kind of plan would allow a released prisoner to be punished? Lord Ap, did you really hold an internal meeting to try her crimes?"

This sharp question angered Mai Tai: "Mr. Lig, what are you doubting?"

Bourbon raised an eyebrow and said sarcastically, "Lord Ap and that gentleman have a deep friendship and close cooperation, so I naturally dare not doubt anything. However... Lord Ap also knows that Nakiel is a CIA mole. If you are determined to do this, I must remind you: do not leave any hidden dangers, otherwise if someone catches you red-handed, you may not be able to clear your name later."

Mai Tai was so angry he jumped up and down, pointing at Bourbon and yelling, "You bastard! You actually suspect me of having an affair with the CIA?!"

Bourbon blinked innocently. "Lord Apoo, you've misunderstood me! I never said anything like that! What I meant was that I won't interfere in your internal affairs, but you should report to that gentleman before doing anything, right? That would make it easier for me to carry out my work!"

Mai Tai was silent for a moment, his anger subsided, and he said with a forced smile, "I'm sorry, I misunderstood Mr. Lig. I will definitely explain this to that gentleman myself."

Bourbon nodded in agreement: "Lord Ap is indeed wise! I think this matter is of great importance, and the sooner it is dealt with, the better."

In the afternoon, Mai Tai's secretary suddenly invited Bourbon to an unfamiliar place.

Bourbon was puzzled, and the secretary explained, "Lord Ap has already reported the current situation to that gentleman, and he has agreed to deal with the woman according to our plan. However, that gentleman has made a new request, saying that he wants to collect a batch of pharmaceutical raw materials, so he would like to ask Mr. Lig to come and take a look."

Bourbon asked warily, "I didn't receive any orders from that gentleman."

The secretary hurriedly showed Bourbon the email that the man had sent to Maitai: "Here, this was just received not long ago. I think Mr. Lig didn't receive it because the signal was not very good, right? The man specifically asked for a very rare snake, which can only be found in this area. We can go and catch one alive."

"Going to catch snakes?!" Bourbon exclaimed in surprise.

The secretary laughed heartily and said, "Mr. Lig, there's no need to panic. We have many skilled snake catchers here. You just need to watch from the side. You don't need to lift a finger! The main reason for asking Mr. Lig to come and see for himself is to serve as a witness and prove that we haven't cheated and that there are enough snakes here to meet that gentleman's needs."

Bourbon nodded in agreement: "Okay, but please let me change my clothes before I leave."

Bourbon sensed something was wrong and thought: Maitai might be trying to use this opportunity to get rid of me.

He calmed down, left a coded message for Jing Guang, changed his clothes, concealed his weapons, and then calmly left with his secretary.

However, Bourbon's plan failed. No sooner had he been taken away by his secretary than Catwhisker set off with Gil to find Geddon. By a twist of fate, the two avoided each other, unaware of each other's situation, and the coded message proved useless.

Bourbon followed his secretary and her entourage deep into the rainforest.

As darkness fell, the layers of deep yellow and dark green made it difficult for him to discern directions. He felt dizzy and unsteady, and had to hold onto the tree trunks to move forward with difficulty.

"Mr. Lig, hang in there a little longer, we'll be there soon!" the secretary, who was walking ahead, encouraged.

"Sorry, I'm a little dizzy..." Bourbon said breathlessly, his whole body covered in cold sweat.

"Oh dear, what should we do? Could it be that he's sick? It's very difficult to cure a disease in this forest," the secretary exclaimed dramatically.

"Damn it! Could they have poisoned my lunch?"

Bourbon cursed himself for his carelessness, mainly because he hadn't expected Maitai to be so ruthless. After all, Bourbon was an envoy sent by that gentleman. If he died like this, how did Maitai plan to escape responsibility, and how would he explain himself to that gentleman?

"Where are you taking me?" Bourbon asked, leaning against a large tree, panting heavily.

"Oh dear, Mr. Lig looks terrible and is sweating so much! Quick, come here and carry Mr. Lig!" The secretary continued his exaggerated acting performance.

"Damn it! Get out of here!" Bourbon roared, pulling out a dagger and startling the people around him.

"Mr. Lig, what are you doing? It's impolite to use a knife!" The secretary's smile was somewhat eerie, even more so in the deep, dark forest. "Let's talk this out, don't ruin the harmony!"

"What else do you have to say?" Bourbon glared, barely holding on by sheer willpower. He knew he couldn't last much longer and pinned all his hopes on Kagemitsu. But his partner had already crossed the rainforest from another direction and couldn't respond to his cries for help. As for Conan, the young detective, who was secretly searching for information in his room while his secretary was away, was completely unaware that the other police officer had also left the village.

“Mr. Lig, since we are partners, we should be open and honest with each other. But you’re being two-faced, which is not good!” the secretary criticized sternly. “I know you’ve been secretly reporting to that gentleman. You’ve reported everything about Coco and that CIA woman!”

"I'm just doing my job," Bourbon replied proudly, though he was inwardly surprised: he hadn't expected Maitai to distrust him so much, even monitoring his communications with that gentleman!

“Of course, I know you’ve always been a loyal subordinate,” the secretary said with some regret. “But I’m sorry, I’m also loyal to Lord Ap… Take him down!”

At a command, the crowd surrounded Bourbon. At this point, his body could no longer hold on, and after a few feints, he was bound hand and foot.

"What... exactly do you want?" Bourbon asked through gritted teeth, sweat pouring down his face.

"Don't worry, we won't kill you." The secretary had a sinister smile on his face. "Disposing of a body is too much trouble. A respectable man like Mr. Ligge must be found a good home!"

Bourbon felt himself being lifted up, and facing upwards, all he could see were layers upon layers of trees.

After an unknown amount of time, Bourbon, whose consciousness was becoming hazy and who was almost falling asleep, felt himself being thrown out of mid-air.

Goodbye, Mr. Lig!

Bourbon heard the secretary shout at the last moment.

Strangely, Bourbon, who was thrown down, felt that he was still sinking.

Slowly, slowly, it sank down little by little...

Bourbon then realized where he was: it was a swamp!

"Now they're truly doomed to die without a burial place."

Bourbon was terrified, but he was too weak to break free of the ropes, and his hands and feet were tied. How could he possibly escape this deadly swamp?

"scene--"

"Help!"
