Chapter 3 The Drama Begins

“Sizzle…”

A strange voice sounded in his ears. Shintaro Kinoshita took a deep breath and told himself that everything was false and he was just imagining something.

All the believers were bowing their heads and closing their eyes, praying earnestly. Only the priest was standing on a high place, but his back was facing the direction of the back garden.

Upon closer inspection, it turned out that Shintaro Kinoshita was the only one who noticed that something was wrong in the backyard.

Shintaro Kinoshita was a little nervous. He kept looking towards the backyard, fearing that something bad would appear there.

As the saying goes, if you worry about something happening, it is more likely to happen.

Under the gaze of Shintaro Kinoshita, a skeletal hand still covered with layers of mud suddenly grabbed the door edge, and the huge force left five finger marks on the door edge!

"ah--!!!"

Shintaro Kinoshita was startled and, without paying any attention to the devout prayer scene, he sat down on the ground, looking at the skeletal hand in the direction of the backyard. His eyes were full of fear, cold sweat was pouring down his face, and his body was shaking.

After hearing Kinoshita's piercing scream, the priest frowned and immediately shouted, "Kinoshita, what are you doing? Why are you interrupting the prayer?!"

"Priest, there is... there is..."

Kinoshita Shintaro trembled and pointed at the staggering skeletons in the backyard, his eyes full of fear: "There are ghosts!!!"

Upon hearing this, the wrinkled priest immediately frowned and shouted at Kinoshita Shintaro, "What ghost?! This is the shrine where Asada the Great God is enshrined. How could there be a ghost wreaking havoc?!"

"Kinoshita Shintaro, do you want to..."

However, before the old priest could finish his words, a huge force attacked him from behind. A cold feeling spread from the priest's neck into his body. His neck was pinched tightly, his face turned red, and he could no longer utter a word.

“Hmm…”

The priest struggled desperately, but to no avail. Although what was strangling him was only a skeleton, he was still an old man over 70 years old and had no way to break free from the shackles of bones.

"ah--!!!"

"What is that?!"

“Run! Run!”

Everyone had come to their senses. They looked at the bones that were strangling the priest and became panicked. No one thought about saving the priest, but wanted to escape from here as quickly as possible.

Don't do anything wrong, and don't be afraid of ghosts knocking on your door.

Most of them had done bad things, so when faced with such a situation, they were naturally afraid that the skeletons would come looking for them, and they did not dare to save the priest at all.

Shintaro Kinoshita was the first to notice something was wrong, and naturally he was also the first to escape.

He crawled out of the shrine, his whole body trembling. He swore that he would leave this damn place and never come back.

The door was just ahead. Shintaro Kinoshita was overjoyed. He was only a few steps away and he would be able to leave this damn place!

At this point, Shintaro Kinoshita didn't know what had happened, but the resurrected skeleton in the backyard told Shintaro Kinoshita directly and decisively that things were definitely not normal.

"Ms. Hanako, please forgive me. I was really forced to do this."

Kinoshita Shintaro crawled towards the gate, confessing in his heart: "When I leave here, I will go to Sakura City to ask the most famous master to perform a ritual for you, and I will go to a regular shrine to pray for your soul... Please forgive my sins!"

“Crunch…”

Suddenly, a sound like limbs rotating came from outside the door, which made Shintaro Kinoshita's heart freeze.

He swallowed, recalling a bad scene in his mind.

The footsteps behind him were hurried and chaotic, and the screams assaulted Shintaro Kinoshita's eardrums.

Shintaro Kinoshita understood that he only had one chance to gamble now.

"Ms. Hanako, please forgive me!"

After shouting, Shintaro Kinoshita rushed out the door. The moment he stepped out of the shrine, the sunlight shone on him, and the warm feeling of surviving a disaster made him want to cry.

But soon after, the feeling of warmth disappeared, and was replaced by a chill that penetrated deep into the bone marrow.

Because he discovered that in front of the shrine, there were several skeletons with eerie white skin staring at him and climbing towards him from all directions!

Being watched by several skeletons, this feeling of horror is hard to describe in words. Kinoshita Shintaro was so frightened that his legs went limp and he collapsed on the ground. He looked at the skeletons that kept climbing over him, trembling with fear in his eyes: "Don't come over here!"

"Crackle, crackle..."

The sound of stiff bones turning was heard again. Those white bones had climbed up and completely submerged Shintaro Kinoshita. Along with the biting of the skeletons, Shintaro Kinoshita's screams also rang out one after another.

At this time, other villagers also fled to the gate of the shrine. However, when they saw Shintaro Kinoshita buried by skeletons and blood seeping into the wooden boards, they were immediately panicked and countless screams followed.

"roar--!!!"

The roar of skeletons was also heard from the shrine, and stiff skeletons began to enter the shrine from the backyard. After seeing the villagers, the skeletons pounced on the crowd ferociously.

"Get out of here, you monsters!"

"It's not me who hurt you, don't come to me, don't come to me..."

"God bless Asada, God bless..."

The entire shrine was filled with bloodshed, but the shrine of Asada Omikami enshrined on the high platform remained calm and watched everything quietly.
