Chapter 8 Thank you, Class Monitor
Chapter Summary: Feel free to ask me if you have any questions.
"Yinyin, you're here so early."
Cheng Zhaozhao yawned as she walked into the classroom through the back door, not forgetting to hand Fu Xianyin a bottle of yogurt: "You're here so early, haven't you eaten yet? Here, have a bottle of yogurt."
Fu Xianyin smiled, accepted the yogurt, and thanked her.
She did not eat breakfast, but not because she got up early, but because she has never had the habit of eating breakfast.
Last night, she asked Gu Linzhao where they were in their first round of chemistry review. After returning to the dormitory, she studied chemistry until 2 a.m., and this morning she got up at 6 a.m. to come to the classroom for early morning reading and continued studying chemistry.
This morning's reading session was in English. If the English teacher hadn't come down to patrol, Fu Xianyin would have been able to catch up on her chemistry studies before the first class.
Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned.
The English teacher never stopped talking from the moment she entered the classroom, and would even occasionally pull a few students aside to quiz them on vocabulary.
"It's definitely hopeless to study chemistry," Fu Xianyin sighed, and took out the CET-4 vocabulary book she had bought earlier to start memorizing.
The English teacher has turned around.
Yu Daiqin looked at the CET-4 vocabulary list in Fu Xianyin's hand, bent her fingers, and gently tapped Fu Xianyin's table with her knuckles, saying, "Come out with me for a moment."
Compared to her homeroom teacher Gao Ying and her Chinese teacher Xu Xunling, Yu Daiqin looks younger.
The two sat down in the empty classroom across from each other. Yu Daiqin looked at Fu Xianyin and asked, "The new student who transferred here yesterday?"
Fu Xianyin nodded obediently.
Yu Daiqin asked, "Where did you study before? Did you do any mock college entrance exams this year? What was your English score?"
Fu Xianyin answered one by one: "I was in Linlan City, Shanxi Province before, and I scored 142 on the English section of this year's college entrance examination mock test."
Upon hearing this, Yu Daiqin raised her eyebrows: "Not bad, English is quite difficult this year. I saw you were already memorizing CET-4 vocabulary just now. After you go through the textbook vocabulary during morning reading, whether you want to memorize CET-4 vocabulary or do reading comprehension exercises on your own, I won't interfere."
Fu Xianyin's eyes lit up: "Thank you, teacher."
Yu Daiqin: "But, after all, it's my English morning reading session, so I can't study other subjects."
She stood up and put the chair back in its place. Fu Xianyin followed her back to the classroom. Before entering, Yu Daiqin said, "There are still two weeks until the monthly exam. I look forward to your English results!"
Fu Xianyin nodded: "I will try my best."
The morning reading time passed quickly, and when the bell rang, Lin Anxu and Yu Daiqin got up almost at the same time.
Yu Daiqin gave Lin Anxu a half-smile, then left the classroom as if it were nothing out of the ordinary.
The next class was chemistry, and Fu Xianyin picked up her chemistry textbook and continued reading, making the most of every minute.
Lin Anxu originally intended to come over to chat with Fu Xianyin and Gu Linzhao, but after seeing Fu Xianyin take out her chemistry textbook to study, he changed his approach and went to be cheeky with Cheng Zhaozhao.
"Thump"
The back door was flung open, and two loud claps almost grazed Fu Xianyin's ears.
A middle-aged man with a booming voice walked into the classroom. He patted the textbook and his voice seemed to come from his diaphragm: "Come on, everyone, go back to your seats. Seniors are still making such a fuss. What kind of behavior is this?"
Having just experienced Yu Daiqin's gentleness, Fu Xianyin looked at the chemistry teacher and instinctively felt that he was a person with a bad temper.
Almost exactly as Fu Xianyin had said, not long into the class, the teacher started asking questions in a rapid-fire manner, and the questions were exactly what Fu Xianyin had not yet seen.
As luck would have it, after asking questions in two rows, with nearly 10 people standing there, the chemistry teacher pointed to Fu Xianyin's row.
We're doomed.
Fu Xianyin thought to herself.
She couldn't answer about 40% of the questions asked earlier, and of the 60% she could answer, only half were answered within the allotted time.
As her turn was approaching, Fu Xianyin took a deep breath and stood up when the chemistry teacher called out "next".
Without even looking up, the chemistry teacher asked, "Alkaline oxides have three common characteristics. Okay, three, two, one, tell me."
She remembered this point.
Fu Xianyin said: "Water-soluble alkaline oxides dissolve in water to form alkalinity; alkaline oxides react with acidic oxides to form oxyacid salts; alkaline oxides react with acids to form salts and water."
"Hmm, not bad."
The chemistry teacher nodded in satisfaction, but hesitated for a moment when his gaze met Fu Xianyin's: "Oh, you look unfamiliar. A new student?"
Fu Xianyin nodded: "Yes, teacher, I just transferred here yesterday. My name is Fu Xianyin."
Just when Fu Xianyin thought the teacher was going to let her sit down, the chemistry teacher suddenly said something unexpected: "New student, here's another question as a reward."
What are the characteristics of the products of the reaction between aluminum alloy copper and dilute nitric acid?
We're doomed.
My mind went completely blank.
In her frantic state, Fu Xianyin noticed a single word written in pencil on her notebook: "Quantity".
There was an X in front of it.
The memory connected instantly, and Fu Xianyin said, "The product does not change with the quantity."
"Not bad." The chemistry teacher casually asked, "And what about changes with quantity?"
Depend on.
Fu Xianyin's mind was about to explode.
Suddenly, a fair hand appeared in Yu Guangzhong's vision, its slender fingers holding her pencil and gently writing on the draft paper:
Na.
Fe.
Fu Xianyin: "Sodium and iron."
"Not bad." The chemistry teacher nodded in satisfaction and finally said the three words that Fu Xianyin had been longing to hear: "Sit down."
Fu Xianyin felt as if she had been granted a pardon, breathed a sigh of relief, and sat down.
Gu Linzhao neatly placed the pencil next to the notebook. Fu Xianyin secretly glanced at it and saw Gu Linzhao holding his own pen, looking at chemistry exercises.
There was no indication that this person had just given her the answer.
If it weren't for the two faint pencil marks on the notebook with obviously different handwriting, Fu Xianyin would almost have thought it was her hallucination.
She picked up a pencil and wrote softly in her notebook:
Thank you, class monitor.
Then he pushed the notebook and pen together to Gu Linzhao.
Gu Linzhao pressed his fingertip on the notebook, paused, and just when Fu Xianyin thought he was about to let go, he suddenly tightened his fingertip and moved the notebook a few centimeters towards him.
Then he picked up the pen and wrote under Fu Xianyin's handwriting:
You're welcome. Study hard.
Fu Xianyin smiled secretly.
The unfortunate people standing in front of her blocked her view a little, so Fu Xianyin had some difficulty seeing the teacher's writing on the blackboard. She grabbed her pencil and notebook to take notes, but suddenly noticed that there was another sentence after the phrase "[You're welcome, study hard.]".
It was added by Gu Linzhao at some point.
The metal pencil in her hand still retained the warmth of the boy beside her.
In the notebook, neat handwriting read:
[If you have any questions, feel free to ask me.]
