Chapter 598 Only she could persuade him.

Lin Zhibai immediately reached out to touch her forehead, and only breathed a sigh of relief after confirming that she did not have a fever.

“What would you like to eat now? I’ll go to the kitchen again,” he said.

She shook her head listlessly, looking at him with weary eyes, her expression completely devoid of life.

Lin Zhibai's heart clenched, and hatred surged in his eyes. He wished he could kill Lin Guangchen immediately.

But he couldn't show his emotions; he couldn't let Gu Fanyan know about this, lest she worry.

“Then you should get some sleep,” he said, reaching out to stroke her hair. “I’ll stay here with you.”

He won't stay here.

He would take care of things while she was asleep.

"Mmm," Gu Fanyan replied, closing her eyes wearily.

Lin Zhibai sat down next to her, pulled her into his arms, and quietly stayed with her.

He would rush to the bar as soon as she fell asleep.

At that moment, his phone lit up.

No need to look, it must be Lu Dongjue who sent the message, telling him that Lin Guangchen has been tricked into going to a bar.

He lowered his eyes to check on Gu Fanyan's condition, only to see that she slowly opened her eyes again, her brows furrowed.

"I can't sleep, I feel very anxious." She shook her head.

"I'll stay with you." He hugged her tightly, calmly.

With Lu Dongjue around, Lin Guangchen won't be able to leave anytime soon.

Gu Fanyan couldn't sleep, partly because she wanted to keep him occupied, and partly because she was genuinely worried about her mother.

She chatted with him, saying, "My mother has a physical examination every year, and the reports have never had any problems."

"This illness came on suddenly and urgently."

Lin Zhibai thought for a moment, "Your aunt was hospitalized and had surgery after being stabbed. I heard that elderly people like this have a high chance of getting a stroke."

Gu Fanyan was slightly taken aback, a flash of inspiration struck her, as if she wanted to grasp something.

But no matter how hard they tried, they couldn't catch it.

My head is aching from thinking about it.

"Don't think about it," Lin Zhibai advised her. "Nothing will happen. Dr. Li is very experienced."

His voice also had a comforting effect on her.

Or perhaps it was the warmth of his embrace that made her unconsciously relax.

Or perhaps it was because she was too tired.

She fell asleep without realizing it.

I was awakened by a phone ringing.

She stared at the ceiling for a while before snapping out of it and quickly answering the phone.

"Fan Yan," the call was from Gu's father, "Dr. Li just asked me if we could get a doctor named Lin Guangchen?"

Gu Fanyan was taken aback.

Mr. Gu continued, "Dr. Li said that he wants to discuss some of your mother's conditions with Lin Guangchen before coming up with a solution, which would give him a better chance of success."

Gu Fanyan: ! !

She discovered that Lin Zhibai was missing.

She rushed downstairs to ask the nanny, who said that Lin Zhibai had left about 20 minutes ago.

“But he said he would be back in an hour,” the nanny added.

If he comes back in an hour, it will probably be late.

She drove quickly out of the garden, dialing Lin Zhibai's number as she did so.

I won't answer.

Call Lu Dongjue again.

They didn't answer.

When Lin Zhibai got out of the car, he glanced at his phone and saw that Gu Fanyan had several missed calls.

She must have woken up.

He needs to hurry up, finish his business, and get back as soon as possible.

He put his phone in his pocket and strode into the bar.

Lu Dongjue was waiting at the top of the stairs on the second floor. After they met, Lu Dongjue said, "Have you thought this through? Are you sure you want to do this?"

"Where is he?" Lin Zhibai asked.

Lu Dongjue led him into the private room.

The private room was bustling with singing and dancing, and there were about twenty people crammed in.

Upon seeing Lin and Lu arrive, they stopped in unison and left the private room without saying a word.

Only Lin Guangchen, bound to the sofa, remained.

Those people singing and dancing just now were just pretending.

Lin Zhibai rushed up to Lin Guangchen and, without hesitation, punched him first.

Lin Guangchen's head tilted slightly from the blow, but his face remained contemptuous and disdainful. "Lin Zhibai, is that all you've got?"

Lin Zhibai was about to throw another punch when Lu Dongjue stopped him, saying, "Calm down and let's get down to business."

Lin Zhibai kicked the coffee table hard, releasing some of his anger.

“Speak,” he questioned Lin Guangchen, “did you tamper with Aunt Gu’s illness?”

Lin Guangchen sneered: "So what if you did it, or you didn't? The result is what it is now."

"Damn it!" Lin Zhibai's anger, which he had barely managed to suppress, flared up again. "I'll kill you!"

He kicked Lin Guangchen in the shoulder, knocking him to the sofa, then grabbed one of Lin Guangchen's hands and brandished a fruit knife.

"You can perform surgery, right? You're a good doctor, right? I'll cripple your skills first!"

A flash of light.

Lu Dongjue then realized that he really intended to strike, but given the distance between them, it was too late to stop him.

His heart sank. If he really hurt Lin Guangchen's hand, things would probably get complicated.

In the blink of an eye, a figure suddenly rushed in, grabbed Lin Zhibai's waist, and pulled him backward.

"Clang!" The fruit knife in Lin Zhibai's hand fell to the ground.

Lu Dongjue quickly stepped forward and grabbed the fruit knife.

Lin Zhibai broke free from the man and gestured to Lu Dongjue with his eyes to give him the knife.

Lu Dongjue hesitated and put the knife behind his back.

"Lin Zhibai, stop!" Gu Fanyan shouted.

The one who rushed in and hugged Lin Zhibai just now was Gu Fanyan.

She was panting and her forehead was covered in sweat, but she was glad that she had arrived in time.

Lin Zhibai pursed his thin lips tightly; he knew that the best opportunity had been missed.

I wanted to teach Lin Guangchen a lesson tonight, but that's impossible now.

He turned away in frustration.

Gu Fanyan didn't have time to worry about him for the time being. She ran forward and untied Lin Guangchen's ropes.

"Are you alright?" she asked.

"Do I look like someone who's alright?" Lin Guangchen retorted provocatively.

Gu Fanyan's gaze darkened: "Lin Guangchen, don't refuse a toast only to be forced to drink a forfeit."

Lin Guangchen shut his mouth, shrugged, and still looked smugly at Lin Zhibai.

"You can go now," Gu Fanyan said.

“Okay,” Lin Guangchen stood up and casually pinched Gu Fanyan’s chin. “You know how to find me.”

Lin Zhibai got angry again, "Damn it, I..."

Gu Fanyan pulled him, and he slapped the wall.

"Why are you arguing with him?" Gu Fanyan snapped. "He doesn't like women."

She didn't just yell these words at Lin Zhibai.

Lin Guangchen's expression changed slightly. Gu Fanyan had been to his house and met his parents...

"You want me to go check on Aunt Gu's condition, right?" Lin Guangchen asked. "I will be at the hospital at 10 o'clock tomorrow."

"10 o'clock is too late!" Gu Fanyan immediately refused.

Now that she had successfully blackmailed him once, she naturally wanted to use his weakness as leverage a few more times.

"I'll be there at 9:30, otherwise don't wait up for me." Lin Guangchen was also very firm, and after saying that, he turned and left.

A potentially tragic incident that could have led to many complicated consequences has been averted.

Gu Fanyan breathed a sigh of relief and slumped onto the sofa.

Lin Zhibai is tall and strong, making him very difficult to pull back.

She felt as if she had used up all the strength she had in her life just now.

"Sister Fanyan, are you alright?" Lu Dongjue asked, noticing her pale face.

Gu Fanyan gently shook her head. "I should be asking you that. Are you alright? Did you help Lin Zhibai make a mistake?"
