Mr. Gu didn't look at him, but his gaze fell on Dr. Li's face: "Dr. Li, my wife has woken up."
Lin Zhibai was stunned, his face never looking so pale.
Gu's mother did wake up, but she was still very weak. She exchanged glances with Gu's father for a short while before falling into a deep sleep again.
Dr. Li was extremely excited after reviewing Gu's mother's data. He held Lin Guangchen's hand and kept whispering something to him.
Instead of going in to disturb them, Gu's father looked at Gu Fanyan and gestured for her to come with him.
"Let Young Master Lin go back first," said Mr. Gu once they reached a quiet corner.
“Dad,” Gu Fanyan shook her head, “He only has a problem with Lin Guangchen, but he still cares about Mom.”
“But now only Lin Guangchen can save your mother. What do you suggest we do?” Mr. Gu asked.
Gu Fanyan was speechless.
Mr. Gu continued, "Young Master Lin should learn to be more open-minded. Of course, he doesn't have to learn. But I absolutely will not allow him to potentially harm my wife indirectly."
Gu Fanyan's heart clenched; she had never seen her father so resolute.
Even though her mother vehemently opposed her relationship with Lin Zhibai back then, her father remained silent.
She had never truly understood her father's concern for her mother over the years.
If she were to speak up for Lin Zhibai now, she would be somewhat ungrateful.
She sighed softly, "Dad, I'll handle it."
Father Gu turned and left.
His silence put considerable pressure on Gu Fanyan once again.
She had no choice but to bite the bullet and lead Lin Zhibai outside the hospital building.
"You've worked hard these past few days. Now that my mother has woken up and her condition isn't so serious, you should go back and rest," she said kindly.
Lin Zhibai seemed to sense something and asked, "Is Uncle Gu dissatisfied with me?"
Gu Fanyan shook her head, "My dad is most worried about my mom right now. He won't care what you did."
Lin Zhibai understood immediately, and he couldn't help but get angry again, "Lin Guangchen is just good at dispensing medicine, can't you find someone like that? Knowing that he has bad intentions, why keep him around and try to please him?"
"Don't talk like that," Gu Fanyan said angrily. "It's my mother lying in the hospital bed right now. Why not use a readily available doctor instead of searching all over the world?"
"We can wait, but can Mom wait?"
Lin Zhibai was speechless: "So what? Lin Guangchen wants you to marry him, and you agree?"

"Shut up!" Gu Fanyan frowned.

"I told you to shut up!"
"Why won't you let me speak..."
"You should leave now and don't come to the hospital for the time being."
"Gu Fanyan, you're kicking me out!"
"If you won't leave, I will!"
"Gu Fanyan!"
Gu Fanyan quickly stepped into the elevator, shutting out his voice from outside the building, and finally her ears were quiet.
She took a deep breath.
The elevator doors opened, and looking up, I saw Lin Guangchen standing in front of the corridor window, a smug look on his lips.
Gu Fanyan really wanted to tear off that smug look from the corner of his mouth.
How come she never noticed Lin Guangchen's true colors before?
"Did you have a fight with Lin Zhibai?" he asked.
Gu Fanyan did not answer.
Lin Guangchen smiled and said, "That's true. If it were me, I would also object to other men treating my mother-in-law."
"I misspoke, she's still my future mother-in-law."
Gu Fanyan slowly walked up to him, looked up at him, and said, "Is face really that important to you men? Even if you don't like women at all, you still want to compete with Lin Zhibai?"
Lin Guangchen scoffed: "Just look at Lin Zhibai, he's only jealous that I can help you. Didn't he just take his anger out on you?"
Gu Fanyan sighed softly and lowered her eyes sadly.
It must be said that she is an absolutely beautiful woman, especially when she frowns, her pitiful appearance is so captivating that any man who sees her would want to give her the whole world.
Lin Guangchen couldn't help but feel secretly relieved that he couldn't be poisoned by her.
"Don't be sad," he said calmly. "Even though you sacrificed your feelings, you saved your mother, didn't you? That's great!"
He scoffed and turned to leave.
“Lin Guangchen…”
"Don't worry, I'm back at the hospital starting today. I know your mother's condition." He walked away without looking back.
After being unconscious for two days, Gu's mother gradually regained consciousness.
That afternoon, she drank some porridge and was able to sit up with the help of her pillow.
"Yan'er, you must have been terribly frightened." She also remembered how she had fainted.
"Mom, I'm so glad you're alright." Gu Fanyan tidied her mother's hair.
Suddenly, Gu's mother remembered: "Why haven't I seen Lin Zhibai?"
She knew Lin Zhibai; he would definitely be by Gu Fanyan's side in this kind of situation.
"He's busy," Gu Fanyan said casually.
Gu's mother looked at her and said, "Yan'er, don't hide anything from me."
Gu Fanyan lowered her eyes, her expression troubled.
Mrs. Gu turned to the nanny and said, "You two go out and rest for a while. I need to talk to Yan'er about something."
Both nannies went out.
Mother Gu asked with concern, "Can we talk now?"
Gu Fanyan sat down next to her: "I told you, I was afraid you would worry and be sad."
"If you don't tell me, I'll get even more anxious and heartbroken."
Gu Fanyan had always been very close to her mother, and she didn't want to hide anything from her, so she told her about Lin Guangchen.
Gu's mother was somewhat shocked and surprised, but that was all.
After all, she had experienced some situations.
"Didn't you say last time that you broke up with Dr. Lin peacefully?" she asked, her face full of doubt. "I really didn't realize before how much he cared about you. Gu's mother thought for a moment, "Dr. Lin is responsible for arranging my routine check-ups. He also saw me when I was hospitalized last time and told me what medications I was taking."
“Oh, right,” Gu’s mother remembered something, “When I was hospitalized, my wound would sometimes hurt a lot. After Dr. Lin prescribed me some medicine, the pain stopped.”
It's time to dispense medicine again.
Gu Fanyan thought of something.
“Mom, don’t worry about these things,” she comforted her. “I’ll handle these matters.”
Gu's mother was also a little tired. "You should discuss this with your father. He will definitely have a solution."

Gu Fanyan smiled; she believed it.
Gu's mother lay down and slowly fell asleep.
Soon after, a nurse came in to change Gu's mother's dressing.
Gu Fanyan sized up the nurse. She recognized her; the nurse had always worked with Lin Guangchen.
Now that Gu's father has hired Lin Guangchen, the medical staff around Gu's mother are all Lin Guangchen's people.
