Chapter 706 Not a Real Wife

Hua Fei paused for a moment, then said, "You don't need to call me Mrs. Hua Fei."

The butler smiled and said, "This is Mr. Huo's instruction; he also wants us to come and ask you for a red envelope."

Wow.

She got a marriage certificate with him, but before she even saw any benefits, he made her pay money first.

"A red envelope...there will definitely be one." Hua Fei smiled at the butler and stepped out of the treatment room.

Huo Beichen was already seated in the restaurant.

Hua Fei glanced at the table and scoffed, "The dignified CEO Huo treats his wife to this on their wedding day?"

There are four dishes on the table, each consisting of a different type of leafy green vegetable.

"Isn't this good?" Huo Beichen asked back. "The 'green' in 'vegetable greens' means 'love,' implying a lifelong commitment to each other."

Hua Fei let out a "Ha!" and couldn't speak. "Then why are there four vegetable dishes?"

Huo Beichen replied, "Isn't 'destined to be together for life' four words?"

Huafei was particularly impressed.

Just for his ridiculously far-fetched reason, Hua Fei had to sit down and eat a few bites.

"Anyway, thank you for the marriage proposal," Hua Fei said after the meal. "Now that you're married to me, Sun Xiaowei can't use the video to threaten me anymore."

Huo Beichen's eyes flickered slightly: "Are you afraid of the threat from that video?"

“Of course,” Hua Fei shrugged. “I’m a woman, and a doctor at that, so I value my reputation.”

"You value your reputation... Why did you come to my room that night? And why did you change into Sun Xiaowei's clothes?" Huo Beichen looked at her with a half-smile.

Hua Fei's cheeks flushed: "Well, I thought there was no chance for us, but it would be nice to have a night of memories together."

"How could I have imagined that Miss Sun would bring people to block the door outside?"

Huo Beichen smiled and said, "But you left before you succeeded."

"Well... I only realized you weren't right after I went in. I want good memories, not taking advantage of your misfortune." Her cheeks were so red they were almost bleeding.

She breathed a sigh of relief.

She was really going all out to uncover the truth of what happened back then.

Huo Beichen was momentarily stunned into thought.

Her expression was so similar to the person in my memory.

If the face in front of him were blurred, he would definitely think that the person sitting in front of him was Sheng Nanyin.

"What's wrong with you?" Hua Fei noticed that his expression was off.

Huo Beichen looked at her and asked, "Do you know a woman named Sheng Nanyin?"

Hua Fei was taken aback.

Why did he suddenly ask this?

Did he remember the questions she asked him that night?

Or perhaps he had a camera in the room that filmed what happened that night?

She was careless.

I never expected that he had foreseen so many things.

She gritted her teeth inwardly; the only way out now was to fight to the death.

“I don’t know her,” she shook her head, “but I’ve heard of her.”

Huo Beichen's eyes twitched violently.

“One of my teachers once told me,” she continued, “that a woman named Sheng Nanyin had an exceptional talent for medicine and was most skilled at making pills.”

"I heard that many of the pills she makes are based on her family's secret recipes, which are impossible to buy outside."

She countered Huo Beichen's question: "Do you know her? Can you introduce me to her? I'd really like to buy some pills from her."

Huo Beichen said "Oh", "Okay, I'll tell her next time I run into her."

He lowered his eyes, a look of disappointment in them.

Old fox.

cunning.

He firmly believed that Sheng Nanyin had been killed by him!

In his mind, Sheng Nanyin was already dead!

Yet she could still calmly agree.

Hua Fei deliberately continued, "It seems you two are quite familiar. What's your relationship?"

Huo Beichen gently shook his head, "It's nothing."

Hua Fei scoffed, "If you don't want to talk about it, then forget it. Anyway, I'm not your real wife, so you don't need to explain these things to me."

Huo Beichen gave her a meaningful look. "Not a real wife? What do you mean?"

“That’s how it is,” Hua Fei shrugged. “Didn’t you only get the marriage certificate with me to spite Sun Xiaowei?”

"Let me make this clear first: you'll have to give me a large sum of money in the divorce settlement, otherwise I won't consider myself a divorcee!"

After saying that, she got up to leave the restaurant.

Even after digging deeper today, nothing more was found. However, he grabbed her wrist, saying, "My marriage to you has nothing to do with Sun Xiaowei."

"Oh," she replied, inwardly laughing.

The more he tries to defend himself, the more it shows that he has something to hide.

"You just asked me what my relationship with Sheng Nanyin is," Huo Beichen continued, "I can tell you that she gave birth to a son for me, and she once really wanted to marry me."

Hua Fei raised an eyebrow: "Then why don't you marry her?"

Huo Beichen remained silent.

Hua Fei withdrew her hand and crossed her arms. "I understand. You had Sun Xiaowei as a better option back then, right?"

Huo Beichen's lips trembled slightly, and his silence was an affirmation of her answer.

Hua Fei wanted to ask more questions, but as soon as she was about to speak, she suddenly realized something was wrong.

She was about to leave, but he still held her back, deliberately bringing up Sheng Nanyin.

He has only one purpose.

Test her.

The more curious she seemed about Sheng Nanyin, the easier it would be for her to slip up.

She had a sudden inspiration.

Since that's the case, why doesn't she turn the tables and use a similar tactic to lure the snake out of its hole?

“Actually, I’ve heard about this before,” she said. “My teacher told me that Sheng Nanyin was troubled by love and was in a very bad state. She had never made pills before.”

"Where did your teacher interact with Sheng Nanyin?" Huo Beichen asked.

“In prison,” Hua Fei replied, “in a prison in country X.”

Huo Beichen was taken aback. "How come she's in prison?"

After a moment, he guessed again: "Is she a doctor in prison?"

“She’s serving her sentence inside.” Hua Fei looked into his eyes expressionlessly. She hadn’t expected him to be so convincing in his feigned ignorance.

"My teacher went to the prison to treat patients, but he couldn't find the cause of their illness."

“It was Sheng Nanyin who came to his rescue.”

Huo Beichen's pupils dilated. He stood up unconsciously, his gaze fixed on Hua Fei: "Where is your teacher?"

“Dead,” Hua Fei replied.

"Dead?" Huo Beichen's trembling pupils suddenly stopped. "How did he die?"

"I'm old, I'll die peacefully in my sleep," Hua Fei replied.

Huo Beichen sat down again without realizing it, unable to say a word.

That's enough.

She couldn't bear to watch his performance anymore; she felt nauseous.

She rushed into the back garden and took several deep breaths before she could catch her breath.

That morning, she kept a close eye on Huo Beichen's movements.

However, he did nothing but stay in the treatment room all morning, watching over Zeze.

"What are you doing standing guard here?" A-Yue came to her side.

She sat in the room diagonally opposite the treatment room, with the door slightly ajar, allowing her to closely monitor Huo Beichen's movements.

"Is he still inside?" Hua Fei asked.

She couldn't easily go in and out of the treatment room, but A-Yue could.

A-Yue nodded, "I made excuses to go in several times, but he and Ze-Ze only talked about random things."

Hua Fei frowned, unable to understand what he meant.
