Lin Zhibai was taken aback: "Dr. Hua is Sheng Nanyin? Isn't this relationship a bit complicated?"
"Who knows? Let's make sure she's safe first." Gu Fanyan strode forward.
"Wait a minute," Lin Zhibai called out to her.
"What's wrong?"
He stepped forward and took her hand tightly, saying, "It's safer this way."
Gu Fanyan remained silent, but a smile unconsciously crept onto her lips.
The two searched the woods but found nothing.
Just then, a message came from the assistant: Hua Fei had been found.
According to the location, we are not far from them.
The two rushed over immediately and found Hua Fei, but she was unconscious and lying on the ground.
Lin Zhibai's assistant didn't know what to do either, and dared not move her, so he just stood by her side.
"Dr. Hua! Hua Fei!" Gu Fanyan squatted down and called out softly with heartache.
"What happened?" Lin Zhibai asked.
“She was like this when we found her,” the assistant replied. “It looks like she rolled down from up there.”
They were at the bottom of a slope, which was covered with dense trees, but there was a path with scattered branches and leaves, which was indeed the trace of someone rolling down.
"Call an ambulance quickly!" Gu Fanyan urged.
"I've already called, and the ambulance is on its way," the assistant replied.
At this moment, Hua Fei slowly opened her eyes, "Miss Gu..." her voice was weak.
"Dr. Hua, how are you?" Gu Fanyan asked worriedly.
"My left hand is broken and my right leg is injured. Miss Gu, please don't let Huo Beichen and the others know..." After saying that, Hua Fei closed her eyes again.
She used the last of her strength just to ask Gu Fanyan to do this one thing.
Gu Fanyan held her wrist tenderly, "Don't worry, I'll take care of this for you."
Night falls.
Huafei has been settled in the best hospital in the city.
The injuries have been treated. Although there is no danger to his life, he was seriously injured.
"It takes a hundred days to recover from a broken bone, so let her rest well," the doctor instructed. "The anesthesia hasn't worn off yet, so let her sleep a little longer to recharge her energy."
Gu Fanyan nodded in agreement.
After leaving the doctor's office, she went to the ward and looked at Hua Fei, who was lying unconscious on the bed with her left hand in a cast and her right leg wrapped in gauze. She felt a pang of pity.
"What would you like to eat? I'll have someone buy it." Lin Zhibai came to her side and handed her a cup of hot coffee.
"I have no appetite." She shook her head gently.
"It's not your fault that she's like this," Lin Zhibai comforted her. "We still haven't figured out what exactly happened."
"No matter what, don't punish yourself."
Gu Fanyan took a sip of coffee and said, "Do you believe she is Sheng Nanyin?"
Lin Zhibai thought about the question carefully. "If she is Sheng Nanyin, I can only say that her facial surgery was too successful, almost to an unbelievable level."
“I’ve seen no fewer than three hundred renowned doctors in the past few years, but only Hua Fei has ever said, ‘Can my illness be cured?’” Gu Fanyan retorted.
Just because we haven't seen something doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
Lin Zhibai nodded. Indeed, only Hua Fei's treatment was making his father better day by day.
"Assuming she is Sheng Nanyin, why is she hiding her identity?" Lin Zhibai then posed the question.
"She concealed her identity, yet Huo Beichen still sent people to deal with her. If she hadn't concealed her identity, would she still be alive today?" Gu Fanyan retorted.
Why did Huo Beichen attack her?
"Her face has been changed, and her identity can be completely altered, so why would she risk coming back?"
Gu Fanyan thought for a moment, "She came back probably to take Zeze away, but that's not her only purpose."
Because she's been back for so long, she's had plenty of opportunities to take Zeze away.
Sigh, she racked her brains but still couldn't figure out the reasoning behind it.
Lin Zhibai reached out his large hand and rubbed her head. "Don't worry. When she wakes up, just ask her whatever you want to know."
"I'm going out to check on Huo Beichen's current condition."
Gu Fanyan's beautiful eyes lit up; she hadn't expected him to gossip with her.
“But Huo Beichen is good at pretending,” she said, curling her lip. “I used to think that he was truly in love with Sheng Nanyin.”
“It might not be like that now,” Lin Zhibai shook his head. “I think there might be some misunderstanding.”
"What misunderstanding could there be?" Gu Fanyan scoffed. "You men always side with other men. None of you are good people!"
Lin Zhibai was speechless; he had been caught in the crossfire without any real involvement.
Hua Fei woke up around 11 p.m.
Seeing that Gu Fanyan was still by her side, she felt really bad and said, "Miss Gu, I'm sorry to have troubled you."
Gu Fanyan smiled slightly, "You're right about your diagnosis. You have a broken left hand, an injured right leg, and other minor injuries. You'll need at least a hundred days of rest."
Hua Fei forced a smile, "I'll give myself acupuncture later, it won't take more than a hundred days."
Gu Fanyan helped her sit up and handed her a glass of water. "I'm relieved that you're awake. A nanny will come to take care of you tomorrow, and the hospital won't disclose your information. Just focus on recovering."
Hua Fei felt much better after drinking the water.
She only suffered a bone injury, didn't bleed much, and her vital energy wasn't damaged.
"Miss Gu, aren't you going to ask me what exactly happened?" After a while, she brought up this question herself.
It broke the slightly awkward atmosphere in the ward.
Gu Fanyan countered, "Are you willing to talk? If you are, I'll listen."
Hua Fei smiled bitterly, "Actually, it's nothing special, just a heartbreaking story. I am Sheng Nanyin."
The air in the ward was slightly stagnant.
Although I was somewhat prepared, I was still shocked to hear her admit it herself.
Gu Fanyan's gaze involuntarily fell on her face, "But your face..."
“A masterpiece by top surgeons,” Huafei replied. “All the surgeries were completed within two years.”
There were dozens of changes, both big and small.
“My face had only fully recovered three months ago, so I came back.”
Gu Fanyan felt a chill run down her spine; she could only imagine how unbearable that experience must have been.
For an average person undergoing minor surgery, it takes at least a week to recover.
"Why do this?" Gu Fanyan didn't understand. "Just so that no one will recognize you when you come back?"
“I’ve already been harmed once in a foreign land; my face is ruined,” Hua Fei replied calmly.
Gu Fanyan's heart was in turmoil. "Who is it? Who is so ruthless?"
Huafei did not respond.
But the answer is there.
It all depends on whether others believe it.
"Actually, I stopped pursuing this a long time ago, because my power is too small."
"But what belongs to me, I must take back. I've come back this time to reclaim what's mine."
Gu Fanyan let out a long breath and said, "How do you want to get it back? I'll help you."
