Zeze didn't say anything; he couldn't remember.
To be precise, he was completely unaware that he was having an attack; others told him only after the attack had occurred.
He thought about what Hua Fei had said and asked, "Why did that person scare me like that?"
Hua Fei shrugged: "Who knows, but he definitely has his reasons. He only achieved his goal by hurting you."
Zeze opened her eyes wide and nodded vigorously, "I understand. I was kidnapped by human traffickers before. They hurt me for money."
Hua Fei's eyes were filled with pity and heartache. "Poor child."
She couldn't help but pull him into her arms.
When Huo Beichen arrived outside the consultation room, he saw this heartwarming scene.
He glanced at Hua Fei, a complex emotion flickering in his eyes.
"Ahem!" He coughed lightly twice before going inside.
"Dad," Zeze greeted him, but her expression was calm and showed no surprise.
He jumped off the examination bed. "Dad, Dr. Hua, I'm going to my horse riding lesson."
After speaking politely, he left with an air of composure.
Only when he reached the door did he glance back at Hua Fei, revealing that he still retained a childlike quality.
Huo Beichen smiled and said, "My son seems to be closer to you."
“Whoever spends more time with you deserves your trust,” Hua Fei said bluntly. “President Huo is a very busy man. Besides company matters, he also has to take time to handle personal matters. He spends too little time with Zeze.”
"Are you accusing me?" Huo Beichen looked at her scrutinizingly. "From a doctor's perspective?"
“From a woman’s perspective,” Hua Fei replied, “Zeze’s mother probably has some kind of grudge against you, otherwise there’s no way to explain why your biological father is worse than a wild one.”
"A spot-on accusation!" He suddenly grabbed Hua Fei's hand, causing a silver needle she was holding to fall to the ground, bounce off his leather shoe, and drop to the floor.
Hua Fei sneered: "If you're wearing cloth shoes, this needle will prick you, and you'll be trapping yourself."
Huo Beichen leaned closer to her maliciously: "I think Dr. Hua is just digging his own grave by coming to treat my son."
As he spoke, his tone suddenly turned cold: "Tell me the truth, what is your purpose in pressing my son about that stormy night?"
"Ridiculous," Hua Fei scoffed, "I'm treating your son!"
"You're not a psychologist, do you need to know so much to treat an illness?"
"I'm not just acupuncturist, I'm a professional doctor, I'm licensed. Do you want to see me?"
Huo Beichen's eyes flickered slightly, and he released his hand: "Let me see your ID."
Hua Fei glanced at him dismissively, took a small booklet from the drawer, and tossed it to Huo Beichen.
He looked down and saw that it was indeed a doctor's identification.
He opened the documents and memorized all the information inside.
Then, he put the documents together and said, "How do I know if they're real or fake? I'll keep them for two days, and I'll return them to you in two days."
Hua Fei didn't think much of it and let him take it.
Huo Beichen put the documents into his pocket and said, "I can tell you about what happened that night."
"That night it was around 1 a.m. Zeze woke up in the middle of the night and wanted to drink water, but he didn't call anyone or turn on the light. He walked in the dark down the corridor."
"It just so happened that there was thunder and lightning at the time, and the shadow of a vase was projected onto the wall. He mistook it for a human figure and was frightened."
Hua Fei looked up: "Fainted from the shadow of a vase? How old was Zeze then?"
Huo Beichen shook his head: "I know what you're trying to say, but in fact, it's just the shadow of a vase."
"Come with me." He walked out of the treatment room.
Hua Fei followed him to the second floor, the place where Zeze had fainted.
The vase was right by the window diagonally opposite; it was a vase that wasn't much shorter than Huo Beichen.
Huo Beichen pointed to the window, "We've studied it many times and even simulated it. At that time, the lightning was behind and to the side of the window, and the light from the lightning shone in at an angle, which just projected the vase onto the wall."
Hua Fei examined it for a moment, then asked, "If that's the case, why keep this vase?"
“I want him to know that there was no one there at the time, and the shadow he saw was indeed a vase,” Huo Beichen said.
"Has any doctor confirmed your statement?" Hua Fei pressed.
"It's a diagnosis signed by two very authoritative psychologists," Huo Beichen replied.
Hua Fei let out a cold laugh.
Huo Beichen's eyes flashed with anger: "What are you laughing at?"
"Zeze has been ill for several years. What good are the signatures of those authoritative psychologists? Has his mental state improved at all?"
Hua Fei spoke slowly, his tone full of contempt: "You, as a father, don't believe your own son, yet you wholeheartedly believe what people who don't even know your son say."
Huo Beichen remained calm: "Then what do you suggest we do?"
Hua Fei said, "Go and call Zeze over."
"Brother Beichen, Dr. Hua, what are you doing here?" At this moment, Jiang Xiaowei walked over from the second-floor stairwell.
She wore a cheongsam today, with slippers on her feet, and walked silently.
"You've arrived." Huo Beichen nodded slightly to her, a smile curving his lips.
Jiang Xiaowei stepped forward, took his arm, and looked at Hua Fei: "What's the matter today? These days, Dr. Hua has been staying in the consultation room all day and hasn't left the room. Why did you come up to the second floor today?"
Huo Beichen deliberately concealed the truth: "I discussed Zeze's condition with Dr. Hua, and we're almost done. It's time to go downstairs..."
“Why didn’t Mr. Huo tell Miss Jiang the truth?” Hua Fei didn’t give him a chance to hide it. “Miss Jiang is considered an elder to Zeze, and she must be very concerned about Zeze’s condition.”
Jiang Xiaowei nodded: "Of course."
Hua Fei said, "Then please call Zeze over. I want to ask him if it was this vase that scared him to death that night."
"Dr. Hua has this skill?" Jiang Xiaowei said in surprise. "I'll go and call him right away."
She turned and left.
Hua Fei also said, "President Huo, please wait here. I'm going to the restroom."
Jiang Xiaowei entered the children's room, and her expression immediately changed. She quickly glanced around and found that Zeze was not there, so she immediately took out her phone.
"Find out where Zeze is and take him out immediately," she whispered urgently into the phone.
Zeze was playing alone in the sandpit in a corner of the garden when suddenly, Huafei emerged from behind the bushes, hugged Zeze tightly, and whispered, "Come with me."
She led Zeze behind some bushes to hide him.
A driver quickly arrived at the scene, looked around but couldn't find Zeze, and immediately turned around and searched elsewhere.
As Hua Fei watched his figure disappear into the distance, she sneered, "So this driver is one of Jiang Xiaowei's men."
Zeze asked, "Dr. Hua, what's wrong?"
Hua Fei said, "You must remember everything I'm about to say, okay?"
Zeze completely trusted her and nodded obediently.
So Hua Fei leaned close to his ear and whispered something in his ear.
